Obama has appointed Richard Holbrooke as a special envoy for Pak/afghan. He is pro-pakistani and considers india as part of the problem. Now the US will side with pakistan.

When was the time US did not side with pakistan.
I do not understand, it is our India we have to take care of its best interest.
Did china worry about Oh my god Mr. XYZ is not good for china, or did Singapore worry oh my god Mr. ABC does not like singapore noodle. They formulated their strategy, stuck to it and made great progress. Unlike us standing at American Door step and wondering what will be thrown our way.
This is bogus man.

Who is Be**ch*d Richard Holbrooke? We will make him sit on India's D1ck. Who the F**k he is to decide whether we are the problem or not the problem.
Sorry I am little frustrated with all this crying and whining.

Great Going Slumdog !!
by mitzi satur on Jan 23, 2009 07:21 AM  | Hide replies

After reading the latest about its 18 nominations for the Oscars, I hope Shah Rukh Khan stands by his 'no regrets' at not having done "Slumdog". It is truly a proud moment for India, but ironically, a Britisher has to take us to the Oscars ! Anyway, no compliants as A.R. Rehman is the man that stands out. Many congratulations and here's wishing this is the first of many of India's contributions at the Oscars.

How come it should be proud moment? A guttery India can be only proud moment for British since they created it and now for Yankees (which come from the same race) are glorifying it. It can only be a proud moment when someone doing anything constructive for it. It should be a black day for India if this movie gets more selling. What is going to happen consequently, Christians missionaries will collect more funds in the names of slums in India and more people get Christianized in India. If we can not get this simple plot than it shows how dumb we are. Otherwise what is so great about this movie that gets it for Golden Globe and Oscar. Half of the people might not have understood the songs and language. If the award if for English movies, how come AR Rahman songs are nominated. I am not saying his music is not good, rather he has given much better in other movies, but why for him Oscar or any foreign award now. Guys this whole things look fishy. Westerners are known to carry out their agenda so what is behind his. I hope what I am concluding is wrong.

FYI... Oscar awards are all controlled. This one was given oscar as it showed India in a poor taste.

Also, if you write a book on India's poverty and superstitions, I bet you will get a 'Booker' or a Pulitzer award.

Don't you see a sequence?

Don't relate yourself to dog. Get out of the inferiority complex. I'm an Indian and don't see anything wrong if Bombay's slum is shown in movie.
When you can enjoy all fictitious big bungalow and fake multi-millionaire story then face the truth. Don't live in dreams. It is a real world.

Actually in western world dog is treated like family. Sometimes owner is more close to the dog then his family member. No wonder you often hear a fortune is left for dog, cat upon the owners death.
In India calling some one dog is derogatory.
So don't take tension boss. Enjoy the movie. Public memory is short anyway.

And westerns are going to fix it by Christianizing them all. They may regretting that they couldn't do it 60 years ago and now see an opportunity with more money. By propagating and showing disgust of India they can collect more money and easily carry out their agenda with Italian govt in power. We have become so dumb that we are not realizing the simple thing. Two things going to happen out of this - first I already mentioned and second there will be more movies made even with poorer things in the race of Oscars. Now even India directors will try the same because they have tasted the blood. If we people think that by showing the slum of India will generate constructive responsive than Wake up Idiots! This movies is not good from any angle for India. Stop aping start leading. The sign of Hindi Cinema aping is "Bollywood," change it to "Chitrayan" or something better that shows our creativity. But why would you care? Let them show more garbage and we just massage our belly with saying "they are just showing the reality"

These are hardcore facts..

Out of the top 1000 richest people in this world, 50 are Indians!! (5% are rich)

Out of more than 1 billion people in our country approximately 220 million people are below the poverty line (more than 22% are poor)..

Those are pathetic numbers and hardcore reality!!!

Slumdog Millionare potrays the darker picture of Indian slums.
by Aryan Mitra on Jan 23, 2009 05:48 AM  | Hide replies

It is a proud occasion that Slumdog got 10 Oscar nominations. But I think the credit solely goes the director and cinematographer of this film who chalked out the blueprint of this film. The performance of bollywood actors Anil Kapoor,Irfan who are not playing the central character are just like any other bollywood movie.

The most important part is since this movie has a worldwide viewership and it includes people who has little knowledge about India who tend to inculcate a filthy(unhygenic) feeling about the country. They belive the whole country is like a slum far from being a superpower.

Although the cinematography and direction in slumdog are beyond par but I believe Lagaan being a commercial bollywood movie carried a much better theme than this. But it couldn't score anything in Oscars.

I completely agree with you. Slumdog depicts the naked poverty of India and Lagaan was no doubt far better than this in raising the image of true Indian. Swaroop wrote this story in good sense as a Indian but Danny Boyle succeded in getting the credit by showing India as a third world dirty underbelly..!! As a nationalist, I repect the work he has done but I condemn the way he has shown it..Jai Hind..!!!

What is the brighter picture of Indian slums?
Slum is slum it is terrible, that's it.
It is the reality, if it bothers you do something about it. Rehabilitate them, at least ask the people you vote to do something about it. Just crying and whining and trying to hide reality won't help.

It is not a documentary about India. It is a fiction based on a slum dweller. Why do you get so insecure about it? You are worried that you cannot answer your western friends' queries about slum. You do not have the confidence that India will eradicate poverty sooner. You have so many things to be proud of as an Indian and why worry about this false image. We have to face the poverty problem and deal with it to solve it. Be proud at this moment for global recognition of Indian talent like A.R.Rahman.

Great ..!!! I completely agree with you..!! Why we are always comparing ourselves to Western world..We are living in different country altogether which has many faces and really difficult to understand..!! We should have our own standards...Ultimately Indian quality should be superior then export quality..

First we have to start thinking that we are superior than anybody else and once we do that the creativity will follow. Currently we think we have no brain and the westerners are supreme. Well that is the whole problem. On the other hand, western world use our brain to creativity and sell it to all saying that its their original. The movies once again tagged the whole country with Slumdog. The movie can not be talked in good taste. And people who are trying to justify it are looking at India just like a Slum country. I hope someday we will start living with dignity and respect. Simultaneously start fixing our system, people, quality of life and challenge the show the world our muscles. But that just seem a dream right now.
