nothing with getting a Globe or Oscar, but the sparkle in our eyes (particularly the "uncle" "aunty" uppity class of India, when the western world patronizingly dishes out an award is simply shameful. it is obvious how India and several countries around India still behave and believe like savants.
what makes this even worse is the new found smugness amongst us that denies we need or look up to anything in the west, while unabashedly and more than ever ape the west in mannerisms, ethics and daily practice of living.
Just making shallow remarks about patriotism and respect for your own will not get us anywhere. It is time for the billion individuals to adopt an ethical outlook, work hard and truly value your own thing first and then respect the outside world. Unfortunately, the current situation seems to contain the mirror image of all the above traits.
It's a historical news, the good point is movie is 100% indian (except Director ;) and made in India.
As far as criticism is concerned, it shows one side of India, not the entire India. Western people know the value of India and they are projecting us everywhere. Apart from that movie is slightly better than average but Titanic was also not awesome.
If someone is really hurt about the dark side of India which was shown in the movie, then start planning and execution of some basic amenities for slum people, the way it's director did sometime back.
Anyway nice work and deserves some awards too,
Rest, grow up my friends, instead of fighting over small topics like Indian habits :)

and of the 10 nominations besides AR Rehman, no indian .... esp no one from on screen ..and the same in bafta , golden globes etc ...of course the people who are getting rewarded are getting it because of their tremendous effort in demeaning india
slumdog is a bakwaas movie ! shows indians in very poor light and words.
Instead see c2cc which is a very entertaining international movie and promotes good relations between india and china.
I had seen lot of criticism of c2cc by paid and shameless media but still I saw the movie and it was entertaining til the core. It has to be seriously investigated who was behind to malign such a entertaining movie.

Dear SUCCESS, does those slums in mumbai created just for movie ? what u think ? We are developing country, but still the infrastructure is worst in india, how many states without Power cut ? how many states give enough water to public ? how many states got good road ? what's the litteracy rate of india ? India the the country with largest number of people below poverty line ( Even the poverty line is just around Rs 500/ month), And as far as people like you support CC2C, we never going to develop, please give up ur false prestige and talk like a sensible human. For that first you need to service your brain. Grow up dude, then we'll talk about prestige.

I feel that India is a Developing Nation. We get funds internationally. It show's how still India is under developed. Such movies if filmed, should not promoted internationally. People around the world will start treating Indian people like "People from a beggar country".
It shows the fact of India but also i feel ashamed when i come to know that all people around the world saw such poor people in India

cc2c is not that movie which people have been considering.. it is watchable and entertaining..
If while checking out a stud in a stud form I choose to peer carefully at its anal orifice with a magnifying glass and ignore everything else. What would you expect me to see ?
A stereotypical portrayal of INDIA through Western Eyes and a Stereotypical showering of plaudits for such a portrayal once again !
Nothing more !
If this film forces us to clean up Mumbai's slums. I would call it path breaking !
We need a Mondrian-Nagar instead of Dharavi.
Let us all get together with a broom and a gun.
Check out Artist Pete-Mondrian on Google for more details.

Only, this particular stud has an orifice as large as Lincoln's tunnel !!
And the stud itself is so emaciated that it is notable more for it's 'remarkable' orifice than for anything else !!
British have cleverly picked up the divisive factors of Indians and adopted divide and rule policy. Thus they are responsible for partition of India and creation of homeless mass which led to formation of slums. They have taken the advantage of Indian benevolence to crookedly overpower her to squeeze out her last drop of wealth and now showcasing her poverty to every nook and corner of the world. Only British can do it because they have it in their gene/blood.

Do you think that Indians were not responsible at all? What a funny statement dude. You need to read History again.

Any non english movie comes under the category of foreign film thats taken under their regional language. generally its presumed that a film with english language as base and few actors who are native english speakers are considered as an english movie, concept or theme could be international. This is what I suppose so, correct me if am wrong
