We watch movies for entertainment, not to go and cry seeing that my india is such a bad and poor country. We can take pride on many things in india, but poeple like u are always pessimistic and not happy with whtever progress india is doing and complain abt each and everything. Why don't u try to change the world around u? there are 200 odd software companies y do u talk abt only fraud in satyam. there is so much growth in indian economy by the taxes paid by software companies and its employees, but people like u only talk abt satyam. If some one makes movie that u r a bad guy will u accept or u will accept if some one talks bad abt ur home even if its true, same way a person who loves his country will not accept slumdog is a good movie, i agree with Mr.L.Shankar, i love my country however bad it is, i will contribute and strive for the developement of my country in every possible kind, i don't want someone to show bad image of my country. Iam positive that we will india has very good future.
Every country has its own good and bad points. SO many people are goin job less in US,companies are getting bankrupted, the attitude of americans , bcoz of american spending habits who world is in recession will any one dare to talk bad abt this?

Mr Indian - how or why is the concept of loving one's country related to making a film, which is a form of art? Do you think that stupid films like Devdas, Paheli or Race truly reflect India? How many times have you seen Indian women dancing in the middle of a road or in a filed wearing designer dress as we see in the mainstream Hindi films? Do you mean to say that only films which are unrealistic should be made??

Iam not saying that i will watch unrealistic movie, i don't want some westrener make fun of india.
slumdog is not a movie directed by an indian, only subject is on india.i dont know why we are giving the movie a big lime light talking about golden globe and now oscars.we must make masterpiece on our own ,its funny that foreiners are making film on india and bagging golden globe and oscars shame on indian movie industry.

Mr.Nitin, does that mean that we should discount the greatness of movies like Gandhi which was directed by Sir Richard Attenborough? if you are really that upset, then be unbiased and do so by criticizing our Indian directors who lack guts to make a movie based on the book which was written by an Indian!!
All these Johars, chopras and bunch of clowns are more interested in masala formula based movies with routine stale plots...
Movies are not just for entertainment, they also give an opportunity to display ones creativity too, which, sadly most of our directors can't do..
accept it and if you can appreciate ones creativity..and don't segregate art based on nationality and race.

Yes mr. ashok gupta pleez don't talk like that.I can't control my laughing.PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ.
This movie has excellent story, great direction, camera, sound. These are topped with fantastic acting by some almost unknown actors.
But while I've started watching the movie, a very depressing thought was creeping in. One question reveberated several times. Is it for all those technical/acting excellence, that this movie doing great in west ? or is it the real naked poverty of India which is boosing the ego of all white viewers ?
This thought hasnt left me yet.
Honestly, its difficult to digest such truth, when told by an outsider.
Lets see, how it catches up with when it releases in India.
Hope politicians do not make an issue for their own interest. I would be happy if any political party takes an oath to eradicate poverty instead of pelting stones at theaters in protest of selling poverty of India etc etc.

Well said Mr. Nath. Out of all these blogs.Urs is a real indian talking. Everyone else is just trying to show off their writing skills.watever is shown is true to its core.
India was discovered WHY? Because it was bird of Gold.India had wealth but it could not defend itself.Invaders like mughals ,britishers looted India. They took all her wealth. Now they are showing poor and dirty India. Indians have a capability .Its a high time for Indians and work for country.Dont wait for nuclear explosions like Hiroshima and nagashaki to build our nation.
"Not a single concept in this film shows good things about India it only shows slum, Prostittion, corruption, Indian People cheating, Call centre negligence, etc.... Every concept is misleading people of world about Indians."
(1) i dun think the concept is misleading...u also kno d truth abt india...it's high time we stopped running away from reality
(2) FYI - Slumdog M. is based on a novel that is written by an Indian, not a firang...
Face the fact about india n do something to improve india
They have shown truth but that is Half. They did not mention about the other half part. The global community has seen only the half truth. They have not seen out Chandrayaan rocket launching.
The West loves this film and especially since an INDIAN author wrote this book called "Q&A" and the Indians hate the west for loving this film especially because a foreigner made the "Q&A" book into a movie which shows the true underbelly of India's biggest city called Mumbai. The battle continues.........
