sachin is the greatest
by mohan on Mar 23, 2006 11:16 PM

i donot think one loss will make our team a bad one and we need not over react with this loss, our team has been performing very well in the recent past. all these journalists or cricket pandits whatever u call them who write columns about sachin are over reacting.every humanbeing has a lean patch in his career(what ever it may be)and the same is happening with sachin. we have to leave him alone and i am like everybody very much confident that he will return to international cricket with a bang.

I agree with Arvind
by ravi on Mar 23, 2006 10:39 PM

Yes, I very much agree with Arvind on his article. Sachin deserved the boos he got at Wankhede. His performance was PATHETIC for a batsman of his calibre. Whatever happened to the Sachin whose very sight would terrorise the best bowlers the world over! The way he got out in the first innings, proves he needs a break from the game. The selectors and the cricket administration are wary of touching him. I really admire the Mumbai crowd for telling the man what they think of his performance/dismissal. Just scoring a hundres in 15-20 innings and then going on a poor run spree does not help his team in any way. The opponents can now rest assured that once Sachin scores a hundred in a test, they can easily get his wicket in the following innings or tests without much ado!

ALso, dropping Laxman was, in my opinion a real blunder. Laxman in place of Tendulkar would have been more useful here.

Pathan needs to get his outswinger (to the left hander) back along with his speed. Sehwag should relise that he needs to be more consistent. Another Tendulkar in the making!

Harbhajan should be given a break too! But, do we have a good alternative? No more quality spinners in the land of spin?

Downright negative
by Chatur on Mar 23, 2006 10:24 PM

Arvind is negative all the time.. Will write only when India loses.. Where were you when India won the ODI series in Pakistan? And against SL? Do you get pleasure in writing only the negative? Get lost!

Consistency in criticism
by Sarvesh on Mar 23, 2006 10:16 PM

A heartbeaking article like this is not new to any die hard fan of CRICKET like me, especially if he is an Indian. As long as we are consistent in our performance and we are giving more than 100%, I dont mind team India losing (even though it aches to be on the losing side).

When the same Team India performs well in Pakistan or against SL and SA at home, we will be of all praise and hailing our stars but on the other hand we criticize them as soon as we lose. I never treated Sachin or Lara or Bradman as a demigod and as a matter of fact we should not. He is perfectly human and he is not a run machine who can be programmed to score heavily all the time he is IN.

I think its the lack of perspective and the lack of practical cricket experience that makes articles like this just a piece of *%^& to fill the place. I feel deeply disgraced and humiliated whenever I read columns like this as i'm an Indian and it matters to me. Please be consistent in your criticism, thats all I ask for. I'm sure that I will be reading another article by the same author, but not surprisingly, in a different tone. Think twice about the negative impact on our team by articles like this.

-Sarvesh.

wrong column
by tejas on Mar 23, 2006 07:48 PM

One can write only if he/she has experience playing cricket. If you dont know \\\"C\\\" for cricket and write, You would write like on the basis of recent results.

The combination does not work this time but How do you explain SA win chasing 434 for ODI against your so called best application side AUS.

Every team looses once ang while that does not change history ! Why dont you go out and play a ball from your dear M Hoggard of A flintoff!!!!!

The column shows writers inexperience as cricket viewer or player!!! do not pay attention!!!

He will himself write good about the same player within months when they will play good !!! These media/writers are changes their colors with situation!!!

Sachin booers were right

Right on the mark! Thank goodness for cricket, otherwise India wouldn't have any kind of sport worth watching, since they suck at soccer, rugby, hockey and cannot play basketball or any other type of physical sport. And even in cricket, 'the gentleman's sport', requirng very little physical exertion, they are undependable, inconsistent and undisciplined - like a bunch of losers.
