Sachin should retire
by Manuel Vaz on Mar 23, 2006 05:06 PM

It is high time Sachin retires from international cricket. Of late, many flaws have seeped into his batting techniques which makes him vulnerable even against weak bowlers. If he refuses to retire, then he should be shown the door just like Sourav.

Comments on Indian Cricket Team's selection process
by Gautam Banerjee on Mar 23, 2006 05:01 PM

Its high time for selection committee to make its new strategy for team selection. Divide your team into two groups. First team should make a performance chart according to every players last 5/10 match performance. Rate them in points wise for all sections of batting, bowling, fielding, health & conduct etc. Leave this sheet to the second selection committee members but hide the players name from their respective scoring line. Without knowing Players name and only on their score the SC will finally decide. There won't be any bias for taking Tendulkar/ Shebhag & not taking Laxman/ Ganguly like players.

RE:
by Vishwanathan on Mar 23, 2006 04:54 PM

The author has again proved the fact that public memory is indeed very short. The public wants to see the best of the team always. I agree that the team did not perform well in this series but does that mean that they should be treated the way the Bombay crowd did?. Where was this crowd when India thrashed Pakistan in their soil. Fine..but why doesnt the author understand that the depleted English team had nothing to lose. Even if they had lost the series, they would have gained sympathies from all the cricket pundits. But just imagine the amount of pressure the Indian side had...A new captain, an out of form spinner(Bhajji), inexperienced pace attack and an inexperienced batting order except for the captain, Sehwag and Sachin and on top of that it was a home series. The pace bowlers Pathan, Sreesanth and Patel would have played around 30 matches all put together. I would say that it was a brave move to go in with 5 bowlers because that is the way modern day cricket is shaping up. U just cant be on the defensive side always. Experimenting on a home pitch was the best thing to do and failures are sure to come when you try something new.

Deplorable Role of our media
by satish on Mar 23, 2006 04:48 PM

Our Media is worst possible in whole world and to add to it they heir ex cricketer whose credential and level of cricket they played is big question. Ex Player's like Yashpal Sharma, Madan Lal, Ashok Malohtra, Kirti Azad, maninder Singh, Shrikants credential no match to that of Sachin, Dravid, even ganguly, Infact all those mentioned ex cricketer always played politics more than cricket. What right they have to comment on ability and technique of Sachin, Ganguly and Dravid.
For any team to win or loose is responsibility of complete team and not of individual.
So called young brigade in our team what is their performance how many catches dropped by our best fielder, what was bowling performance of Bhajji and Pathan.
Media should learn to respect our Heroes.
They should also look at what is our performance in commonwealth games.

Today our cricket team is among top three in world let us respecting that.
Media should stop programme like match ka mujrim match ka kaptan

Boo that Sehwag instead!
by R K Iyer on Mar 23, 2006 04:44 PM

Why boo Sachin? He has been doing a magnificient job for India all these years. Instead, boo that wastrel Virendra Sehwag, who always gets out cheaply when India needs him the most!
