Dhoni, Harbhajan casual
by Ravi Challam on Apr 16, 2009 09:54 PM  | Hide replies

What else you expect from school dropouts? Majority of our cricket celebrities are illiterate, arrogant and ignorant. So, our government is even more foolish to choose such unworthy persons for awards.

@LG:

Hello Mr. LG, respectability comes from within. Everybody understands that APJ was India's best ever President... and that was not because of any opinion poll or something else... it was because of his sheer personality. Its an irony that APJ was suceedeed by someone, who was in the news only because of non-political reasons (for treating the Rashtrapati Bhavan as her extended-family-home, building a bollywood-DVD library and many such incidents). Nobody has ever heard her speak (read mumble) anything meaningful. So, Mr.LG, why on earth in this 21st century, would someone ever respect the current President, who herself is not aware of her own responsibilities?

She is enjoying the run. Let her. Whether history would remember her, should be left to history.

Mr. Sanjay,

I can understand what you are trying to tell me.

But, you mean to say you should know the name of your current president only if you respect the person.

There are other ways to convey one's feeling or channel one's anger.

It is an election time. Why don't use this opportunities to set the things right.

What do you say?

ALL INDIAN AWARDS HAVE BEEN POLITICISED HENCE IT IS BETTER NOT TO FURTHER POLITICSE IT.

You are 100% right. Burka of NDTV and Sardeep of CNN-IBN got padmasree only becasue of their Anti-Modi campaign during Gujrat Election.

Well said! To add - even selection of President is with politics in mind. Other than Dr.APJ and Dr. Radhakrishnan most of the other presidents election were politically motivated.

Haribhajan&Dhoni are cheap
by LG on Apr 16, 2009 09:40 PM  | Hide replies

When people get things easily, they do not value them. Which is the case with Dhobi and Haribhajan. They are the least deserved candidates for prestigious national award like Padma Shri. But they got these awards because or faulty selection procedures.

Anyone skipping the Padma Shri function for improper reason is intact insulting the whole nation, not just the president of India.

I am really surprised to see people-especially fans of these idiots-even supporting their actions. I wish media, who has hyped these two characterless players, and Indian public must teach them lessons.

I never liked Dhoni even before this incident, as I already knew how cheap he is from the way he talks; Haribhajan has also lost my respect after his uncivil behavior.

Easily!!! You mean its easy to become the captain of Indian cricket team. Let me tell you this. Its easier to become the president of United States.

Its not easy to beat Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan in their back yard. Its not easy to win a world cup. Its not easy to beat England 5-0 and in a test series.

Its not easy to even play in Ranji team when you are in a corrupt state like Bihar/Jharkhand, let alone playing for India.

You are just one the losers who can not digest the success of a hard working and smart person like Dhoni.

Hate him or love him, you cannot ignore him.

by shekhar singh on Apr 16, 2009 09:39 PM

I have been watching this post for long and have read a lot about different opinion of people and many said that the award should be taken back from them as they have insulted the president and the govt.
i would like to inform all people through this post then where was the so called dignity and honour of the govt and president when the ex army officers and present army officer returned the gallantry award to the president en mass , why did the govt head not hand in shame that time and what did the president do for the army people beeing the supremem commander of the armed forces.
it is our sheer bad luck that we haev such presidents in india who themselves have no moral standimg whenever the congress has come to power.
So hon sorts minister before making a comment omt he sportsperson , pls take the stock of your govt deeds

It's a free country and everybody has a right to choose - so if Dhoni & Bhajji do not want to accept the award it's their choice, nobody absolutely nobody can make a compulsion on them to accept the same, unless of course there is a law which states otherwise!

If the president were one Mr Abdul Kalam .......
by Ravichandran Rajamannar on Apr 16, 2009 09:32 PM  | Hide replies

Eventhough President title is the highest in the country, person who occupies the position does add to the respect of this title. This position has been completely degraded by horse trading indulged by politicians without caring for the mettle / fettle of the person occupying this chair. This incident only goes on to prove this. Only way to redeem the honor of this title is to elect a honest, patriotic, active person without corrupt / criminal background. ceo@whinepedia.com

Other solution is to elect president directly by the people themselves instead of trusting our great "middlemen" who indulge in horsetrading
