A Footballer runs 12 miles in 90 minutes and a Cricketer less than 3 miles in 5 days
by red chillies on Aug 17, 2008 11:03 PM  | Hide replies

Sports is about contributing towards HUMANITY and Game is an act for enjoyment and Passtime.

Modern Day Cricket is more like a Casino Like Gaming Act where old people play for making money and people flock together for entertainment.
Cricket no way suits CITIUS,ALTIUS,FORTIUS motto of olympics and hardly any Sporting Country wants to play it. Moreover it is managed and patronized by Colonial bodies and dirty non sporting people.

Shooting sd be banned. yes last time they used to shoot kabootar, chil, duck, squirrel n deer. how it can be sport? ban it too.
Ban boxing too it is inhumane to see one human hitting another n bringing them to ground, bleeding the opponent. there is no glory.
Swimming also why so many events just need freestyle and 1000m to test. phelps just learnt one thing and got 8 medals. whereas soccer 11 people fight just to get one gold. UNfair.
What is soccer doing there? Ronaldinho i like him though.
What is basket Kobe Bryant doing there? All r richman. Ban basket ball too?
IS hockey an individual event? So if 2moro hockey becomes commercially successful we sd ban it too?

Non progressive people r always against changes. When copernicus told erth rotates round the sun he was killed.

You sound right in parts buddy...still we need to digest all these.
A 100 m race lasts only for 10 secs & there will be a maximum of 3 rounds before the final. So a 100 m runner runs only for 40 secs max in the entire olympics to get gold. But there are so many other sports that last for hours/days...

Modern day Circket follows Citius,Altius,Fortius
by Mohit Patwa on Aug 17, 2008 10:52 PM  | Hide replies

Modern day cricket (T20 format) is very competitive and follows the Olympic motto of Citius,Altius,Fortius. Every player wants to score runs/bowl FASTER, wants to hit shots/sixes HIGHER and try hard to make their innings STRONGER.

And with the emergence of T20 format, cricket can be easily accomodated in the Olympics schedule for the next edition happening in the Mecca of cricket, i.e. London.

U r right Mohit. U don't have a loser mentality like Christie and those who r supporting him. The more they protest it will get more popular and then we will see cricket in Olympics too.

Oh really? Perhaps Mr.Christie is not aware of 'other' team sports that exist in the Olympics. Wonder why is he not in favour of removing Football from the Olympics?

Kyun Ki Bahu Bhi Kabhi Sans Banegi
cricket as a sport
by Kyun Ki Bahu Bhi Kabhi Sans Banegi on Aug 17, 2008 10:45 PM

cricket is a sport played by 13 idiots, officiated by 2 stupids called umpires (now there is one more watching on TV), watched by millions of arm-chair fools wasting billions of hours..

it should be banned and old hens like tendu, gangu, dravid, lakhu, kumble should be sent to old age homes..

Cricket should not be welcomed into Olympics: Christie
by anilkumar Pillai on Aug 17, 2008 10:35 PM  | Hide replies

Christie it takes a generation to mend such thoughts. I appreciate your understanding of the sport you are in and also the sport such as cricket which is blindly followed due to the billions thrown through advertisement for the cricket organisers to cherish. One often feels baised and in favour of cricket. With biased feelings it is often compared to other sports. Cricket should never be brought into Olympics as it polifers other sports. Hats off to you Christie. Your words can be heard and its loud. I appreciate it. Cricket organisers have grouped themselves to cause dismay with regular sport lovers. As for cricket, individual performance of one single day is magnified beyond human marvel of the day and thus leaves no space for any other sport which is equivalently as important.
