CRICKET ... CRISTIE .. OPINION ,.. NEED YOUR RESPONSE FRIENDS
by Killer Soni on Aug 18, 2008 01:30 AM  | Hide replies

Chrsitie seems to be afraid of cricket's increasing popularity and after effects .. and money power .. cricket has started to challenge football with its lucrative child T20 .. if football is in olympics and its not affecting individual how can cricket be harmful .... is cricket bigger to football in terms of popularity .. I think Christie thinking the same .. Also, when cricket will go to olympics, it will come to same level of sports in INDIA .. not like as stand alone game with super power ... cricket will also be evaluated in terms of medal .. One more thing I want to add here ,that christie fears that INDIA is biggest giant of cricket in terms of money and fans .. if it is included in olympics cricket will be more popular and he fears of INDIAN FUTURE POWER in Olympic cricket decisions and who knows that would be a start only .. INDIA may start influencing olympic decisions as BCCI do in ICC... and INDIA may come on to POWERFUL stage of world .. r we moving to that ??? Can cricket in olympics make that much influence ..

Cricket is a boring sport only followed by 8 countries in the world.

Olympics is a global event which has over 200 teams.

Cricket should not be in the olympics as it lacks global appeal.

Watching a 100metre final you only need eyes to know what is happening. Watching football every person in the world knows what is happening.

If cricket was in the olympics who is going to tell the rules to the rest of the world.? LBW, overs, run-rate.? I mean have people got time to learn all this??

Cricket just lacks global appeal...

rizwan u r absolutely correct...well mr killer dont compare T20 cricket craze in line with football....it shows u dont know anything about football...come to a second division club match(leave FA CUP,UEFA cup, prima liga, serie A or EPL) like barnsley FC or burnly FC u will get to know that to globalize cricket and to take it to the olympics and to challenge football u need at least another 75 years to do so...

honestly cricket is not a game that really requires your stamina or real character cum strength....its a lazy game...some would say standing in field for 5 days is stamina but thats patience and not stamina....even the players get bored of watching the same batsman playing again and again especially test where u score 19 runs out of 60 balls.....the main thing is that in this fast moving world u dont have time to watch a game more than 2 hrs maximum...its just like an entertainment just like a movie..where u enjoy for 2 and a half hours maximum and then get back to ur original life...sadly cricket is like one of the extinct games...

Have you "played" in any sport, in your lifetime? Other than watching NFL, I mean.
You seem to have a lot of bluff, I mean, insight into the boring game of cricket. You have watched others play and of course, you have the right to say you were bored, but as a child have you ever bowled a single ball, thrown a ball into the stumps or hit the ball for a boundary?
Better yet, did you ever play soccer or basket ball? Do educate us on how they are different as team sport, compared to cricket.

by navdeep sandhu on Aug 18, 2008 12:46 AM  | Hide replies

I fully support the idea of inclusion of cricket in olympics.
it will be benefecial for other sports.
right now only 11- 12 countries play cricket.
out these bunch of countries india is very rarely champion.
if whole world started playing cricket india will be like 100 position.
then indian can start thinking to play something else.
cricket have destroyed other sports in india.

yes that is right. olympic medal will become the yardstick for cricket too. currently these few cricketers have caused havoc on all sports. But i oppose Christie statement that cricket sd not be included. If he wd have said to also remove soccer, hockey, basketball then it makes sense. So his statement is part of a hatched conspiracy and lot of slaves here r supporting as Christie is their Lord.

@tamil u comes almost correct with some correction. SA was never a champion in cricket so kindly correct it. Now Australia is really bothered about it bcoz u r not aware that it is not BCCI rather Adam Gilchrist(Aus) told first to include T20 in Olympics. Got it dear. Now don't be always a second hand person even if Aus have not raised it we sd raise it first.

Talking about what China n Korea will do in past is talking like loser. Nothing is permanent. UK was world power once then came US now China is emerging so why u think like a loser. Read the book THE POWER OF NOW by Ekchart Tolle. It is all about now.

This is not fair even in cricket sachin need to prove yet by getting a world cup under his tenure. Kapil has atleast got World Cup. So give him credir for that. Kapil joined ICL to protest BCCI autocracy bcoz BCCI is not national team. It is a profit making club and look how they r banning all cricketers across world who links with ICL.

This is non-sense explanation - that people are reluctant to bring in cricket due to unfamiliarity. If that is the case, how come games like judo and taekwondo are included (not only in current beijing games but earlier as well)? The only big reason which kept cricket out of olympics is that it was a big time sucking game which is impractical for the fast-track schedule that olympics is. T20 can however be considered but only for next olympics as it is pretty new.

They don't want the rise of Asian countries. Already they know they can't stop China now it is propaganda here to stop the rising of poor countries like Slanka, Pakistan, India and others.
He sd have same said for football and basketball too as they r even richer sports than cricket. Also against hockey. It shows he is puppet and mouthpiece of a collective conspiracy. He sd be stripped of medal for raising and criticising a sport being a sportperson and using the podium of olympics as a political and biased forum.
