Not just cricket, but even boxing, football, hockey should be excluded.

Iyer Sir...Vannakkam.

Please say what should be included then.

Marbles, Seven Stones, Hide n Seek, Ludo, Snakes and Ladders ?

Olympics sport motto is FASTER, HIGHER & STRONGER. Its all about who is fast, who can leap high and who is the strongest. Not about dice games or lemon spoon race

england medal tally

Great Britain, right now has 11 golds, 6 Silvers, 8 Bronze: a total of 25 and bound to increase. And they are the originators of Cricket. It might be disappearing sport in england, but still played.
By the way, how can this tiny island of size of Haryana ruled the globe and does so well even when people have declared that its glory has long ended!

Cricket in olympics

RE:Absolutely right..
by suresh kumar on Aug 17, 2008 08:53 PM
Cricket, should be included in olympics, our players should be put to test, now playing only against ten nations , of which few are good enough for the game.

This will alsp bring a sense of responsibility and control to the game.

Teh worst or the best, it may fade out like hockey becuase of its inclusion in olympics, people may dislike it, and it may pave way for other sports to come up.

It will also put cricketers on par with other sports persons, they will be and should be asked to follow up all processes that rae required for olympics ( like competing in league events, avoid drugs / dope etc. )

Hi Suresh Kumar,
Your comments are very sensible. Cricket in India gained great prominence only after the World cup win by 'Kapil's team'. People need some big wins and sporting heros to get attracted to a sport. Another reason for cricket's success (where Hockey failed) is that BCCI is a private run organisation.

Hi SShah,
Dont post rubbish. If cricket has to be included it will certainly not in the 5days Test match format. T20 has been a huge success and crowd puller. See the Beiging Olympic stadiums. Most of the time they are empty.

Mr. Francis, why you are talking like beggar..."if cricket is included, India can get" Dont you foolish people have fighting tendency to get medal rather you need reservation of cricket...

Otherwise call Sadhu Yadav, Lallo Yadav. Mulayam Singh..Mayavati...so that they will collect some gold medals at the gun point from olympic medal winners...

What are you doing now with your 'fighting tendency'? You guys talk such nonsence once in 4 years only. Getting an Olympic medal is not easy it is a life long commitment. It requires family support (starting from good genes), infrastructure, Sponsors etc etc. If you have children just think if you can prepare one of them for Olympics in whatever sport of your choice. If you cannot then don't post such rubbish comments.

Team Games
by Francis Josephkumar on Aug 17, 2008 08:41 PM  | Hide replies

Soft ball (or base ball), Basket Ball, Volley ball (indoor & beach) and hockey are some of the team games competed in Olympics. Tennis was included only recently. If cricket is included, India can get some Olympic medals.

JOKE: India can get medals in Olympics if it is included in Cricket

HYPOTHESES:

Eat Yam! Did you read the yahoo article "Usain Bolt's gold down to yam power, says father"?Seriously, diet is only a small part of being a good athlete. Athletes need a very strong work ethic, and backing from their family, schools and even the government to a certain extent. We just don't have any of this in India. It takes a huge mentality shift and we can just hope it happens in our lifetime.

Cricket and Olimpic

All players will compete at national levels and few from a nation will go. The game will be different. Bowling machine will throw 10 balls at random to each player and the maximum score scored by each player will be noted, no fielders is required as the speed of the ball going to the fence will be taken into consideration the fastest by any player will be a perfect 4 or a perfect 6 others will score less for a shot hitting the fence at a slower pace.(ex. lara hits a boundary at the max speed of 120 km/hr so give him 4 soone hitting at 119 km/hr gets less fractional run as points!! WILD idea indeed) @Copyright 2008 Olimpic Idea all rights reserved by me
