Cricket shouldn''t be there in Olympics

Its about giving equal importance to other sports like Hockey, Atheletics, Hockey, Football, Swimming, Handball, Volleyball etc.. Cricket was NEVER there in OLYMPICS So what did India achieve in Olympic sports in 62 years since Independence ? Just 9 Gold Medals (1 of them being an individual medal now). This is proof that people in INDIA will still continue to play cricket and send their kids to cricket because cricketers are only rich & they get paid crores of money even thru Ads. If we want other sports also to flourish we must encourage our kids to participate and come to Olympic standard like SAINA NEHWAL (just 18 year old) and qualifying for Olympics & Reaching Quarter Finals. The 3 boxers from Haryana who are all in Quarter Finals now. One of them defeated 2004 Athens Olympics Silver Medallist in qualifying tournament to enter Beijing Olympics, other guy Akhil defeated World Champioin Russian boxer to enter quarter finals and so on. Abhinav Bindra the greatest 10 m Shooter in World now got Gold medal in Olympics. Cricket is not in Olympics now. But still we have mana Inafact no harm in having T20 cricket & being World Champions once in T20, we should ALSO try hard to push for its inclusion in 2016 or 2020 Olympics APART from continuing to produce champions like Abhinav Bindra & others So why not have T20 cricket ? Face it, cricket can never aspire to be a medal sport. If Akhil, Jitender and Vijender are in the Qr finals, the entire credit should go to them and their coaches and not to any sports body or government. Whatever was achieved by our sportspersons is only because of their own efforts and inspite of government indifference. In such a scenario, why should anybody send their kid to any other sport? This will alsp bring a sense of responsibility and control to the game. Teh worst or the best, it may fade out like hockey becuase of its inclusion in olympics, people may dislike it, and it may pave way for other sports to come up. It will also put cricketers on par with other sports persons, they will be and should be asked to follow up all processes that rae required for olympics ( like competing in league events, avoid drugs / dope etc. )    Forward   |   Report abuse

It is money making game for individual players and the cricket boards as well and the no of matches increasing year after year and eventually 365 days in an year will have some international match. In a country where 80% of population depends on Rs. 20 per day then how can you expect them to eat all so called healthy food. I agree you need meat not necessarily beef. Meat have digestible protein while whole grain and veggie have protein who is very difficult for the body to digest. We should also blame the system in our country. People like SURESH KALMADI is heading Sports Authority of India for more than 20-25 yrs without any accountability. On what basis this ba...tu..s...rd is still holding chariman's position? No one have any answer to it. We need so policy which should help the sports person. Rather than giving a medalist the job of Ticket Collector in Railways govt. should say every gold will fetch 1 crore, silver 50 Lacks and Bronze 25 lacks. This kind of offer gives a sense of feeling of financial stability opposed to working like a TTE in railways or a clerk in Govt. without any recognition. My personal feeling is Suresh Kalmadi should be kicked out of his post on the basis of accountability. We have not achieved anything under his leadership and change the policy toward sports person, they need respect. They should be given importance in good education institutions by giving them grants on they basis of their performance which will help them shaping their career too.
