He should be able to demand and his demand should also be met. If demanding agenda in Hindi in an Indian stae can endanger life then we are not human beings but beasts. We only talk big words about tolerance of Indians etc. but we seem to have no tolerance for our own countrymen. Are you sure we are moving in right direction?

Recently a DMK minister's request to speak in Tamil in parliment got turned down. What kind of respect is this ? Two different standards for country men ? Hypocrisy at its best!

True. Hindi cannot be imposed on 60% non-Hindi speakers just because 40% Hindi people are hungry for power.

Irrelevant question? In which ever direction he prays, he prays in Arabic, neither in Hindi nor in marathi
MY dear friend hindi has not originated from urdu but from sanskrit and it in devanagari script if u dont know the subject dont bluff any thing urdu was used to communicate between mogul soldiers and it is sweet to hear compared to marathi

we are not against of hindi,, but in region place they should speak local language only. 2. From outside people should give to vote but should not allow to be a candidate, they should give in his or her states only. then this type of crises will not happen e.g. bengali person should be candidate in UP AND PUNJABI PERSON SHOULD NOT BE CANDIDATE IN TAMIL NADU ( then problem will resolve)

Why? What is the problem if people from one state settle down and enrich local culture. US is a country of immigrants. People from all over the world settled their and it was called God's own land. This narrow mindedness of common public creates selfcentred politicians of the hue of Bal and Raj thakerey. What happened to all those sayings, united we stand, divided we fall? I hope Rediff blog is read only by Indians else others will have a hearty laugh on the fools who are digging their own grave by dividing the country. Pakistan, Talebaan etc will enjoy and use these to fuel more divisive issues. Please grow up and out of regional bonds. Accept outsiders with full warmth and progress together. No one can snatch any one elses destiny. You cannot have a strong maharashtra in a week India. Conversely, if India progresses, so will each and every state of it. Please unite NOW.

FULLY AGREE. BRITISH HAS DIVIDED THE COUNTRY IN TWO PIECES. POLITICIANS ARE DIVISDING COUNTRIES AND 24 AND ODD PIECES. Goel ,Pkl. afternoon, 2.50pm, Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, I do not know very much about Janab Abu Azmi except that he is tycoon and has made it to Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha from two constituencies, that proves that he has wide support amongst working classes from UP &Bihar around industrial belt of Brihan Mumbai. if he politely points out that the Vidhan Sabha could add Hindi Agenda Papers to Marathi & English already made available to the incoming Vidhan Sabha members , it is quite legitimate demand, as the member says he is trying to improve his Marathi , that he haltingly follows and comprehends. MNS and Raj Thackeray are cussed and dowright wrong in opposing this request , while, they are willing to suffer English ,but no North-Indian's Tongue.Raj should move northwards to realize how narrow-minded localist he is turning out to be , if he does not mend his ways sooner. The issue here is:-
Why should Sir Raj Thackrey go to North India which is less developed than his Maharashtra.
Why should Marathi people speak Hindi which is as weird asking you speak oriya.
Why should he be allowed to live in India when he does not know that there is no such thing called National Language in Indian Constitution.
If he can not speak the local language how can he work for the localo issues. How will he connect to local people when they only can speak their local language.
Sir Raj Thackrey is right when he fights against the Hindi imperialism.

hey you dirty.....north india is not only bihar and UP...just grow up....North India conatains...Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Rajsthan states too....and these states are doing much better.....and mind you Maharashtra is not a very developed state.....6000 farmers in Maharashtra have committed suicide in last 2 years.... please go and do something for them before spitting poison here and there...grow up...be an Indian first....Jai Hind

Article 343(1) says Hindi is India's national Language. When was Raj knighted? Marathi people should learn and speak Hindi as their patriotic duty, it being the national language. All marathi manoos seem to focus on the word local language and not state language therefore I hasten to add that URDU and HINDI are the local languages of the constituencies from where Mr. Abu was elected. Also there are many other localities in which various languages are spoken as local language and no one understands marathi there. Are you imposing Marathi on them. What about konkan belt where konkani is the local language.

Bravo, I like the word "Hindi imperialism". The Maratha soldiers attacted Surat number of times. They looted and plundered the Hindu Banias (traders) of Surat. Will be interesting to know in what language they spoke with the Hindu Banias.

The Marathas attacked Surat, which was a British East India Company's stronghold at that time and which was leased to them by the Moghuls. And the Marathas were fighting a war against the Moghuls. They just collected the wealth that had been accumulated by the Britishers and which rightly belonged to Indians. They did not kill or harm any old men, women or children unlike other looters. You have to gather wealth if you are fighting a war against a mighty enemy and the Marathas led by Shivaji did that in a most mature manner unlike other looters who kill the entire population of cities that they loot and destroy the arts and culture of those cities.

hey grow up man....i don't know which hindi you are talking about....i thi nk you are talking about the hindi that bollywood speaks...which i agree is 80% urdu.....actual Hindi is eveolved from sanskrit....go and learn some pure hindi before commenting on it.....with half knowledge you should not give your comments...

What These pepoles wants is whatever be happening whoever is doing every thing should happen in Marathi Only right... and for this they are playing a dirty politics. I'm not only challenging Raj Thakrey but those who follows this discrimination that If they have Guts stop all the bussiness which is happening in either Hindi or English, start all the commericail activity and bussiness activity in Marathi In Maharahstra, If they Belongs to Martatha those who known for their Bravery, throw out all the indutries which do not agree with Rajs thakrays view either Ambani, Tata, Birla, etc.
Abu Bhai wants Urdu to be Second Language (Jaban) of Maharashtra state. Our Mahanayak Amitabh Bachchan Supports him. he is real leader of North-origin People.
Keep on fighting so that others will Divide and Rule.Basic nature of Indians.no one to blame for it.This is the only way for developing the Country now
