Abu Azmi is stoking the fires of Hindi regionalism. After staying in MH for so long, he still does not bother to learn Marathi - the state's official language. Shame on him.

and great job... MNS. keep it up! Such divisive regional antinational forces who want to impose Hindi hegemony should be opposed.

Article 343(1)states "The Official Language of the Union shall be Hindi in Devanagari script." And that English could be also used for official purposes. However, attempts would be made increase the scope of Hindi in official matters on a gradual basis.
Any way your objection to Hindi is because it came from URDU? URDU is also a native Indian language.

We dont want any Indian language to get unfair advantage.

Tomorrow Hindi people will get unfair advantages in Indian politics.

Already Hindi people occupy most of the Lok sabha just because they cant control their population.

Hindi and English are the languages that the Central Govt can communicate with. It is not the official language of the Union. There is no concept of National language defined for India, only official languages.

Hindi is just one of the 22 official languages of the Indian Union as per the 8th Schedule of the Constitution and the section on formation of linguistic states. States are free to choose their official languages. MH has chosen Marathi as the official language.

First of all Hindi people should control their population, they should control their migration to other developed states and should develop themselves as they are dragging the growth of whole India.

They are a big burden to other Indian states and are simply swallowing majority of tax money collected from other indian states.

One third of the entire city of Varanasi is lived in by Marathis. The shop signs, the advertisements, even the language of common-talk is Marathi there. In fact, the area has come to be called Mini-Maharashtra. As per your logic, this is an attempt of imperialist nature by Marathis to gain "control" of Varanasi?

Dude, grow a brain. Raj Thackeray is interested in power and power alone. About 5 years ago, RT had a smaller non political "sangh" where-in he encouraged poor people from ANY background (Marathi, UP-ites, whatever) to become entrepreneurs. This same man, now, in the quest for power is involved in divisive politics of language. I had great respect for him back then, but now, I feel disappointed - he's just as bad as his uncle.

Sure, Abu Azmi is no better. He is just as bad and doing the same thing.

As a thinking and educated population, Indians must make the choice to reject divisive politcs. Till we dont, we will continue to have people like RT and Abu Azmi running the show.

Misconception of Hndi being the national language
by howudoudo on Nov 02, 2009 11:02 AM  | Hide replies

There is no concept of national language defined in the India's Constitution. India's Constitution defines 22 official languages with Hindi being just one of them.

Start saying Jai Bharat instead of Jai Hind. Hindi bhashis misunderstand that saying Jai Hind means saying Jai Hindi giving rise to their misconception that their mother tongue Hindi is the national language.

HINDI-Nothing official about it !
by hardhitter hardhitter on Nov 02, 2009 09:53 AM  | Hide replies

Hindi is our national language? Its one of the odd 30 languages scheduled in our constitution. Nothing official about it.More than half the country dont speak Hindi. The Hindi mongers argue that since its spoken by maximum number of people in India ,so it should be officially declared as National language. In that logic, our national bird should be crow and our national animal should be stray dogs eh?

Nobody is imposing Hindi on any body.Abu Azmi asked for Hindi translation of the documents.Whats wrong with that.In Loksabha, you can ask for the documents in any Indian Language. The MP's are free to speak in their regional Language. So why an issue is being made out of Azmi's request.Maharashtra is not a country. It is part of India.National Interest comes first.A false sense of regional pride is being propogated by the likes of MNS .He is playing into the game Plan of China.China has officialy declared that they plan to stoke regional fires in India.MNS and the likes fit perfectly in China's scheme of destabilising India.

Very nicely put forward the logic. Even Hindi-bhashi try to speak in English whenever possible. Basically there is no such language as Hindi. Derivation of the word Hindi itself has a history like Urdu, it is a word floated by Yawans just similar to Bollywood where there is no Bolly or Wood. Actually the languages are Bhojpuri, Hariyanvi, Marwari, etc.

Shame on this MLA

How a person who does not even know that India does not have a national language became a MLA.
Marathi people should first ask that MLA to go through our constitution to know about language policy of our country.
He should also be reminded that Hindi too is a foreign language for south indians.

Mr. Vijay T,
That means you dont understand the language on your passport. The intellectual maturity of yours is so low that you have categorised Hindi as Foreign Language. This is sense of feeling develops in the society who learn to live only in racial cohesiveness & lacks the ability to merge with other communities.

I am not sure why you didnt question the intellectual maturity of that MLA who declared English as foreign language. If it comes to the ability to merge with other communities - then no language should be considered foreign. That MLA should have by now learnt some Marathi from where he is getting elected.
If you think English is foreign because it was just a left over from british - then pls understand - so do is the concept of India - just don't fool urself by assuming everything foreign is bad and should be discarded.
