English is also recognised as one of our official languages.

Like Hindi.

Since all Indians have a right to stay and work in any part of the country we should be allowed to conduct business in any of our recognised languages ...
and whether Raj likes it or not, that's the way it will be.

How English is a naatural Link. You want only English speaking anti Indians to remain at the whelm of our affairs who are not even one crore in India and want to keep the remaining 114 crores Indians dependent upon them. The natural link is Sanskrit. Moreover a man who knows Hindi or Marathi or bengali can very well understand other languages in no time. All our national languages have natural link to each other except Urdu which needs to to banished if India wants to survive as India

Jivendra! Whether you like it or not, English (not Hindi) is the language the whole industry depends.
By the way Hindi is spoken by only about 40% of the population, so where is the point in making it the national language and forcing it on 60% of non-Hindi population ??

It is surprising that Azmi, who is a staunch suppporter of Urdu and wants Urdu as second language even in Tamil Nadu,Bengal,Orissa etc also,is appearing to be fighting for the cause of Hindi. These are not even crockodile tears for Hindi.Azmi efforts are to rouse feelings against Hindi more and more and thus create enemity or enimousity between Indians of Uttar Pradesh etc and Maharastra and thus divide Indians more and more so that they are not united for Bharat Mata

if azmi is a true nationalist,he should demand for Sanskrit as a Official Language instead of Urdu which is second Official language in Uttar Pradesh,Behar,Bengal,Kerala,Tamil Nadu,Himachal, and many other provinces of India including Maharastra

hindi gundhi,
The cat is out of bag.You are a Pakistani or Jehadi and have idiotic agenda.By the way Pakistan hates Hindi, specially the Hindi which was being used after Independence till 1985,I mean the Sanskritised Hindi. But now the central govt and all the Hindi media under some pressure of money from Middle east etc has started using staunch Urdu words which no layman of Hindi belt, except the Muslims, understands

I agree.Azmi is deadly against Hindi. He does not want even a single word in Hindi in Aligarh Muslim University. All the sign boards are in Urdu and English, but,in Maharastra ,this man wants things in Hindi. Is he not fooling the Indians and grinding his axe.

Hindi is not at all a National Language
by Cool Mahesh on Nov 01, 2009 07:21 PM  | Hide replies

This is the biggest lies that the people from Hindi speaking belt project. Indian constitution does not have anything as a National Language. Hindi is one of the 22 official languages of the Indian Union. Hindi & English are two languages in which the Indian Government works & communicates.
Every state is free to have its own official state language/s (which may not include Hindi) as per the constitution.

There is no national language in India...
by Peter Parker on Nov 01, 2009 07:15 PM  | Hide replies

Mr azmi is mistaken. Hindi is an official language of the Union Government and not of the Indian Union. Marathi is "the" official language of the State of Maharashtra and the Government of Maharashtra. In no case should the Government of Maharashtra pander to the north indian ego. Send him back to UP.
If the UP/Bihar/Pakjabi people expect that the people of Maharashtra will accept Hindi over their own native language, then they are seriously mistaken. All official activities in Maharashtra will be in Marathi. If you do not like it move back to UP, where you belong.

Speak in what ever language you like but ensure it is an Indian language otherwise you will be forced to speak to each other in Chinese.

True that. It is appaling that when you go to a central government website there is only hindi and english. Its like other languages do not exist. A central government should be inclusive. After all 60 MM maharashtrians, 60 MM Andhraites, 50 MM Tamilians are not exactly hindi speaking let alone being hindi literate.
You would expect that the Union Government emulate the US government and have documents in all languages spoken in the land.
As i said the Pakjabi's of delhi think of india as their own empire. Their ego is going to be busted up pretty soon.

"After all 60 MM maharashtrians, 60 MM Andhraites, 50 MM Tamilians are not exactly hindi speaking let alone being hindi literate" ... but they should be if we want to be called Indians as Hindi is our National Language.

Clear the Misconception of Hndi being the national language
by howudoudo on Nov 01, 2009 05:11 PM  | Hide replies

There is no concept of national language defined in the India's Constitution. India's Constitution defines 22 official languages with Hindi being just one of them.

Start saying Jai Bharat instead of Jai Hind. Hindi bhashis misunderstand that saying Jai Hind means saying Jai Hindi giving rise to their misconception that their mother tongue Hindi is the national language.

Every Tamil, Kannadiga, Malayali and Telegu (not to forget Marathi Gujerati, Bihari, Assamese or Panjai) can not deny this:

In the Middle East where I am currently ...

every Arab asks "you Hindi?" ... meaning: 'are you Indian?'

So it is

Hindi = Indian.

Arabs call us Hindi 'cos arabs have known India as Hindustan and the people of Hindustan as Hindi. So when arabs say Hindi they refer to us as per our geographic recognition and not the language Hindi. The word India was given by the British which made us to be recognised as Indians. So if you go by the arab recognition all our languages are also Hindi (meaning all languages belonging to Hindustan).
