Kiran Parihar
Fan of Ramgopal Varma
by Kiran Parihar on Jul 09, 2005 11:27 AM

Hi,

I m an ardent fan of RGV. I rarely miss his movies. I saw Sarkar & no doubt it is a good movie (as per current standards). But does it come any close to Company or Satya is a question.(maybe I expected a lot). RGV claiming that this is his best movie, yeh baat kuch hajam nahin hui.

Amitabh Sarkar is devoid of style of Mallik in Company & flavor of Bikhu in Satya.

RGV any comments ??

Try to come out of SHAHRUKH Mania
by kamal on Jul 09, 2005 10:32 AM

Mr. Raja Sen.

Please come out and stop your bias towards shahrukh khan films. I think only shahrukhkhan films are good whasoever may be the situation of that film. SARKAR is such a nice movie and i didn,t find even one reason to criticise it and in contrast your review was just PATHETIC. Most of the indians will look into REDIFF immedietly after any film is released for its review. If the reviews are one sided like this then there is a chance that people may stop relying on other services offered by REDIFF thinking that they are also having the same problem. I request you to present an unbiased and honest reviews. Thanks

Kamal.

what waste of a story ...ramu wake up..
by vidhan chandra rana on Jul 09, 2005 04:12 AM

anyone having read 'the godfather' will testify, what a confused movie.the storyline is clinky ans teh horrible music in the background......and the story the less i mention the better. its not an adaptation but a total hara-kiri ,come on ramu ur my favourite director ,but that does not mean u serve me this stuff. if one has read mario puzo would realize the kind of intensity and emotions that it generates. well to me it was not godfather adaptation at all and i suggest ramu not to desecrecate the great novel by puzo by calling sarkar an adaptation its a total insult.
wakw up ramu u have th potential to make classics even the west would swear of,shiva, company and above all Satya are proof of your genious.
kay kay was the best ,with abhishek and amitabh ably supporting him. thats my take about sarkar.

It is not a remake of Godfather!!
by sanyasi on Jul 08, 2005 09:28 PM  | Hide replies

Hello Mr.Raja, Sarkar has never been publicised as a "remake" of Godfather. It has always been said by Ramu himself that it has been inspired by The Godfather and it is his tribute to that great film. Why the heck are you comparing each an every frame of Sarkar with Godfather?? Your problem is that you **wanted** Sarkar to be remake of Godfather, which obviously it is not.

Guys please DO NOT follow this crappy review and go and watch the movie. It is definitely Ramu's masterpiece and the best he has delivered since Company

Sarkar is neat but totally Godfather
by Sanjay on Jul 08, 2005 07:16 PM

Sarkar is a neat offering no doubt, but certainly not even close to being labelled great. And let's stop pretending that we are original.Amitab goes to the extend of mimicking Marlon Brando, Abhishek tries to do a total Michael Corleone and the film does everything to show that its a complete rip off with a love triangle and Mumbaiyya being the only original aspects.KK is phenomenal though.95 percent of our top guns in Bollywood are NOT ORGINAL.And its only unfortunate that we've been fed with so much of mediocre fare by bollywood that when a semi good offering comes by, it gets touted as the greatest thing in Indian cinema.I love Govinda cos he makes no pretense of being artful or tasteful (which he is absolutely not) while being the Entertainer No.1 unlike the Pooja Bhatt's of the land who do frame by frame xeroxes of English hits and go onto give interviews and talk about how they made their movie.I think a good part of us need better exposure into good cinema with entertainment as well as artistic value before we slice and chop down a reviewer.RGV is among the best in masala ridden Bollywood, but that's as far as he gets.Maybe a few tips from Maniratnam might help.
