More over no ethics from IT profs. They keep jump companies and also no contribution during their stay as well. Keep consuming money, electricity, AC and good food. But only toilet worth output all along thier stay in any company.

And if you talk about there salary from last 1 year some who are completing 2 years no increment in salary they are worst affected what you will say now.

Hi Guys,
Now you Techies feel the pinch. Just imagine, how HR guys, when spend so much of time in getting you now "Beggies" on the board, you just don't bother to join the company, having multiple offers !

Now, you Techies, sorry "Beggies" are paying for their KARMA !

Some more techies are in the pipeline from IBM, Sapient, TCS.

Atleast, from now on learn to be ethical. Respect others profession too ! At the end of the day, HR struggle for their livelihood too !

So, you say that the bond holds good even if the company spindles around happily making frauds?

If your answer will be yes, the first to fired is the one that will validate the bond.

Re: Software typists
by Sangram Sahu on May 15, 2009 10:50 PM
Yes...good windows shown for these typists by Tech Mahindra. These typist always used to think that they control the whole earth though this keyboard interface. Satyam taught them a lesson to realise that they contribute much less than what they used to get. As a typist if you get paid more than what your pocket can hold, then you must be prepared to expect your salariy from an exchequer of no balance. Isn't it ? You dont know how many girls' life these typists have spoiled by showing their salary slips. Also, right punishments to the parents of these girls who until yesterday boast of themselves for getting their daughters married to these white collar typists. When typists live like king in the streets of hardworking teachers, lawyers, bankers and the like, they must watch and comprehend how long these typists can play their finger on the keyboards like this and give their daughters a queen's life. Its a good step by Tech Mahindra and a good signal for the young generation who want to eara a living in near future like these white collar typists.

Satyam Layoff
by Guest on May 15, 2009 09:55 PM  | Hide replies

LAYOFF is not the solution, find a better option, laying off 12k ppl means more unemployment, instead of layoff better option will be to cut salaries of ppl who are on bench rather than layoff. Layoff always done at junior ppl why don't ppl think of big fat senior ppl who does nothing and earn huge amount. cut their big salaries

Why should those billing client pay for those on the bench? Afterall they are making money for the company and they should get a payraise where as those on bench the longest like 6 mos or more can be laid off. They have made free salary for 6 mos anyways.

I am sure you are one of those 'billed employees' who waste more time than a non-billed one. Come on man, no employee want to remain on bench more than a few weeks and want to contribute towards the company's goals. It is the hiring strategy of the co. which creats benches!

40000 out of which only 19000 billable????
by Bhasmasur Rakshas on May 15, 2009 08:27 PM  | Hide replies

That is 21000 employees who are non-billable.....

Assuming 10% of the staff is involved in adminstrative work and is either a part of a cost centre or an investment centre........

That leaves out 36000...out of these 36000, only 19000 are billable.....

Does it mean that 17000 software engineers in Satyam are on the bench??

That is shocking!! that is pure apathy on the part of senior management that was busy duping shareholders and dressing up accounting data.....nice state of affairs.....God take care of Tech Mahindra which has chosen to get into this mess only cos they bought Satyam at a throwaway price..

Can Tech Mahindra turn this mess around??
A) Reduce the becnh strength to manageable proportions.....
B) Identify the non-performers in billbale projects and the talented ones on the becnh and make that swap.....
C) Put formal training programs in place and recruit selectively from good engineering colleges...
D) Try and poach talented middle management from Infy, Wipro, CTS.........
E) Focus on key accounts and build those accounts diligently....eliminate the junk loss making accounts especially those who have a bulk of non-performers...(eg. some pet projects of senior management that have few takers)

by vinayhjoshi on May 15, 2009 10:39 PM
I am not surprised with this news. I was more surprised by Kiran's statement that there won't be layoffs. All IT companies are struggling with Bench strength. Ask the freshers who were expected to join them in Jun 2008. Tech Mahindra is no exception. Layoffs were always on cards as most of us blindly follow US model. There are lots of things organizations can do to avoid layoffs. Layoffs are painful and can dent company image in the long term. As far as Tech Mahindra is concerned, people still have bitter memories of their last layoffs in 2000-2001. The company was just 2100 at that time. Although they need to rationalize their work force, they can try few other options like cutting salaries, linking more % of the salary with company performance. When things are not good, most of the companies don't invest in revenue generating activities. They try to cut costs ruthlessly and look at even consumption of toilet tissues ( just kidding). If someone from Tech Mahindra is reading this, please ask your top management to look at other options b4 layoffs. I understand the pressure of the stock market but this is extraordinary situation and u need to address it differently.

No use Vinay..This all depends on bloody politics in india..once they can bring down the average living cost by reducing prices and controlling trading on commodities companies, can start reducing salaries to the level that we can be satsfied. They are the CEO's, and must have already think of this option..Without decrease in prices of basic needs there is no use with salray cuts.. No company can get gud work from resource without paying enough money for their hardwork.

Nearly 10 years back i used to work for sathyam. On those days sathyam used to cheat international clients by showing exeptionally talented resources. But 1 talented resource's work will be divided to 4 semiskilled/ fresh engineers who were paid peanuts. after the sathyam scam when i enquired abd this with my friends (sathyamites) i was shocked to know that details in the article were true. But my view is that the non billing bench resources were not trained properly, pathetically selected and its due to poor management decisions.
