Oh Bhaya...nobody forces you to work at Infy. If you don't like the pay offer scoot somewhere else or open your own pan beedi shop.

It is not his duty to invest in agriculture. That is the job of someone called 'government'.

Why should anyone invest in agriculture. India is no longer an agrarian economy. Look at India's population and the per capita cultivable acres. The land does not increase as much as the population. So the new generation needs to seek opportunities in industry or service sector instead of heading back to 18th century workstyle. You are not going to compete with China and Korea by working up your ox on a 2-acre lot.

Socialism is history. Indira Gandhi died in 1984. This is the 21st century. Fill your head with 21st century ideas.

Hello are you from NY. Did you not read the news that NM and his wife has donated 100% of their property after their death.
Do you think all the agricultural sector in india is poor? I have travelled across various villages and they are doing good on their Tax free income. Yes the labourers struggle as usual everywhere. Narayan Murthi cant be comparted for any nonsence of Satyam and please withdraw your statments.

Fools Paradise...
by Sunil Kumar on May 15, 2009 07:20 PM  | Hide replies

I think it is a fools paradise out there combined with our politicians.

I could not understand the logic of the companies punishing only a few for no fault of theirs (though some may be underperformers) to face the axe. I think a better approach would be to retain the strength and share the burden with the whole staff, cutting the salaries by some percentage, say 30% to 40%. This would not only help maintain the bench strength for future projects but also be fulfilling the social responsibility of equal treatment and equal opportunities. This would reduce the chaos in the industries and market to some extent.

The GOVT SHOULD WAKE UP and order the companies that they cannot shed the employees at will like this, what they can really do is cut the salaries proportionately and retain the strength.

I think the whole employee community would be willingly accept this proposal if implemented

Boss, this is a publicly traded company where investors are looking for a profit. due economic downturn it will be very difficult to find jobs for all these folks on bench....I don't think anyone would part with salary to pay for someone else sitting idle.....

if you reduce salary for Employees then your best employees will leave you for better paying jobs. You cannot reduce salary below a certain limit, unfortunately layoffs will be there

More to come....
by Gopinath on May 15, 2009 07:11 PM  | Hide replies

Election Thamasha is over now. There will be more layoffs. Indian IT industry cannot stand on its own leg because we do not deliver any new products.

Just 5% of Indian IT involved in R&D, the remaining are C&P(copy & paste) job. How could you sustain a 5-6 digit salary for C&P job? It is not fair....

Until USA recovers, it will be very tough time for the IT industry in India. I estimate India would layoff around 200,000 IT jobs within this year. It will take at least 3 years for USA to recover from its wound.

Every industry needs a correction after boom time and we are going through this now. The hype of irreversible growth is over. Let us face the reality now.

looks like we need to run a movement saying "LOOSERS QUIT IT INDUSTRY PLZ"
