Great Wall of India

When it comes to cricket nation comes ahead of anything else. Individuals are not important for the game, we should win. This is not an Under -18 team but a team which represents the aspirations and pride of the whole nation. Rohit Sharma and other youngsters have not proved themselves to displace graets like Dravid and Sachin. Dravid, Sachin and Ganguly have tons of runs to back them. So it is clear. Cheeka is right. Youngsters cannot take their places for granted. This is a warning for Dhoni also. He cannot live on past laurels.
ALl the bst for the team. Win the Champions trophy for us. Ignore the comments in media. Perform well.

Which Bast**d has written this biased article. Dravid Unsung Hero
by BALASUBRAMANIAN VISWANATHAN on Aug 18, 2009 09:13 AM

Dravid was dropped from the team due to politics only. His record still is far better than any of the young brigade. Other than Gambhir how many younsters have scored hundreds in one day or test. A quick 30 or 40 is good for T20. But not for one day. Wihtout the seniors this team looks in capable of batting out 50 overs Dravid for me is the unsung hero of Indian Cricket.

Still a while to go..........
by Harpreet on Aug 18, 2009 09:12 AM  | Hide replies

I think there is still sometime to go for the
world cup so let us not do everything in cricket keeping that in mind otherwise what will happen is that same set of players will face a terrible type of burn out. We experimented with that joker Chapplle and what happened is history..... injuries, fatigue, staleness and disintrest, to name a few. A contineous over-hype and attention on this will only make the team peak prematurely. In my opinion let the team be on the basis of requirement and on that front no one can question the utility of Dravid in this team. Infact he was needed badly during the 20-20 world cup too. Also, for the youngsters like Rohit etc they need to improve their skills. They have been dropped not because they have become victims of one bad series or outing but because of defect in their techinques which was so evident when they played. In fact opposition captains could easily plan their dissimisals and in between if they scored a few cheeky runs it was a booty for us. For the youngsters the dropping from the team, in one word, should be Groom and not Broom.

Agree fully. Badrinath, Virat
Kohli , Pujara etc etc . The list is long. My point is let them all keep playing and be picked on form. The world cup is far away. At that time , say around 6 months before the team should be picked from the in form players for the cup.

Dravid has always been a great player and its visible with the results that india has had after he started his career with the indian cricket team. It was a big mistake on the selectors part keeping him out for so long a time. Now they have realized that. India did do well in the last 2 years but mostly on indian soil. They faltered badly on foreign land. Dravid is true cricketing legend and his inclusion will bolster the side and set them back on their winning ways.

Dravid is no longer a force to reckon with. The reasons for which he was dropped as he was unable to cope up with shorter version of cricket because of its faster and fitter approach. He is 36. Srikanth decision to include Dravid is complete bias. He pushes Indian cricket to backward and looking for making a team for 2011 world cup. I am sure he will be a complete flop and selectors will rue for his inclusion after Champions Trophy and triangular series in Sri Lanka.

Re: Absolutely
by Rohit Vyas on Aug 18, 2009 09:11 AM
Dravid’s inclusion in the team has come up as a bit of surprise but not shocking. There has been talks of moving forward and developing a team for the future and thus a few senior players were discarded to make way for young talent. No body the Indian team have been able to cement their place in the middle order the likes of Utahhapa, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli to name a few. Dravid’s inclusion will not only add strength to the middle order but will also allow youngsters to learn with seniors like Sachin and Dravid around in the dressing room. Welcome back Rahul and also this will also give the other youngsters a chance to fine tune their own game , work own techniques and make a comeback as Dravid is not going to be around for many years and surely not the world cup in 2011.

Thats true Dravid did not support GANGULY during Chappel era he was just dancing on Chapels tunes and that led to poor rappo and dark phase in indiaaan cricket. What did chapel do! destroy pathan, ganguly greatest Indian and nobody can deny that. Today dhoni is reaping fruits from DADAS EFFOTRTS. There could not have been a team INDIA IF THERE WAD NO GANGULY

Do u risk in including Rohit, Kohli and other uncapped players for such an important tournamant like theChampions Trophy? Just think of what rohit has achieved? In 41 matches he has scored just 695 runs at an low average of 24. He has got enough chances to prove himself. How did he use those chances? Do u aware of what happened in world T20 and in WestIndies? How many more chances do u wish to give him? If so, will he prove himself in atleast some 150 matches or 4 years? Already he has played around 41 matches. and just 4 fifties with no single century and just 24 as average.
Do u want to include Rohit in the team just simply because he is a youngster and with so called talent? Talent-- I dont see any.

i agree that youngsters need to be persisted with, but they need to be consistent, which unfortunately they are not. That is the problem. It is therefore better to bring back the old horses from whom, at least, u know what to expect.

not a good choice
by punk on Aug 18, 2009 08:45 AM  | Hide replies

i think kiran more was best selector compare to srikanth who biased toward old player and south (i am from karnataka still don't like dravid inclusion in the team ). When kiran more was selector he gave most of chance to young player and was able to win 17 one matches continuously in India and abroad. After that vegi spoiled the team with old players.

He had worst one day record for last 2 years, dropping so many important catches, boring to watch, no ability to play and score run against quality player and last putting extra pressure on other team mate. Did anyone notice he start scoring run against weak bowler? His presence in team is advantage to other team and discourage to other player in the team.

Kiran More had conflict of interest because he had an academy in partnership with Chappell, according to rules, he should not have continued to be selector because of the conflict of interest. He was a liability in the team when he was a wicketkeeper in the playing X1.

i agree with indian, Kiran more was no great selector. in fact Vengi did a preety decent job except a few mistakes like dropping Dada and now Srikanth is also doing good to bring back the wall. i am not a huge supporter of dravid, but still he is one of the very best and still has a lot in him. Cheers india and gud luk Dravid.
