IPL definitely would have taught a lesson and at the same time helped youngsters financially. However, in the long run a mix of talent, professionalism, leadership ability, and courage are required for growth. Selecting Dravid is not a key issue here (althoough he has shown pretty much all the characters in his career), the issue is dropping ODI players like Rohit and Ohja. If we consider technical performance only like batting or bowling skills, then the career is short lived. This message is very important and I hope youngsters learn this from the outcome of this selection process.

Dravid

It is very easy to say but without Dravid ,Ganguly and Sachin could not be a big heroes. Dravid has won so many matches for India if not single handedly and gave his valuable experience to the young guns who today shining in the team. Imagine how difficult it is to achieve more than ten thousand runs in both forms of the game. He is also the fittest player in the world as he has not missed more matches since his debut. Hats of to Dravid. Wish him the best of luck. As Dravid is back India will surely win the Cup.

Go away stupid moron. We are the second best team in the world for the last one year. Today India at large is the only team that can give a tough challenge to any team of the world whereas other feel giving up atleast with one or two team.

one step forward & two steps backward!!!!
by Sunish Appukuttan on Aug 18, 2009 12:51 AM

It was age, agility, reflexes, form bla..bla.. at that time, when they wanted Him to be removed!! Now it's all upside down!! That time so many names, C.Pujara, V.Kohli, R.Sharma, I cant laugh they were finding similarities between Tendulkar and R.Sharma. One can play any shot any time, other can play a beautiful cover drive and all cross-bat shots. Any way let us hope all is done for good only. But anybody has thought of Virat Kohli, who just now was in the form of his lifetime, in the Emerging Players Tour, if not what is the criteria for this selection process?? Good enough to lose a night's sleep. right? Well, am not going to lose any sleep... bcoz that is Indian Cricket!! Hats Off!! If u want to do anything, there are millions of reasons to support that.
ok.. ba bye... before signing off, good luck to Mr.Dravid.

SELECTORS ARE NOW WITH SENSE, NON SENSE VENGSARKAR SHAME ON YOU
by shobha on Aug 18, 2009 12:31 AM  | Hide replies

Sensible and can't get better than this. Ofcourse few will be happy and few will be unhappy. Youngsters will get chance again. Person like Dravid, allow him to play, he has done yeoman service to Indain Cricket. Like allowed Sachin, then let him also get dignified exit.
GOOD JOB SRIKANTH AND OTHER SELECTORS. HOPE WE SHOULD BRING THE CHAMPIONS TROPHY OR ATLEAST GOOD SHOW.
OTHERS: DO NOT BLABBER UN NECESSARILY, DRAVID BAT WILL REPLY TO YOU SOON

We do not want fake team who do not have technique and throw bat like golf swngers. Vengsarkar no doubt he is biased regionally. He was not a good selector. Has he played like Sachin and Dravid, can he compare himself to these two legends. Then how can he select Dravid.

munaf should have been picked
by antonio valencia on Aug 18, 2009 12:12 AM

munaf should have been picked ahead of parveen kumar as he performed far better than parveen and ishant in IPL with 16 wickets from 11 matches at an average of 15 runs whereas parveen's bowling average in IPL was 30 runs. ishant, nehra and parveen kumar will flop in tri-series and Champions trophy but RP will perform. only one gujarati has been picked for tri-series and CT.

India lacking someone who can hold the wicket
by manoj bhatia on Aug 18, 2009 12:06 AM  | Hide replies

India as a cricket nation has certainly changed over the past few years. Now they have got batsmen, spinners, bowlers, all rounders but they don't have someone who can hold the wicket for an entire day like Laxman and Dravid did in that famous test match against Australia. None of the players from the regular team can hold wickets and we are missing on that one down batsman. Walls are like Shastri, Dravid, Laxman, Mahanama, Bevan who would stay there as long as possible. Who amonst these youngsters. That is why India is a good ODI team but without seniors there is no test team for India, especially the middle order.

New Test Team

Sehwag
Gambhir
Raina
Yuvraj
Dhoni
Yusuf
Karthik
Harbhajan
Mishra
Zaheer
Munaf
You think this test team can score 500 against Australia or South Africa. Leaving Sehwag who can score 200, may be a quickfire 50 but not 200 playing approx. 300 balls. This is where Dravid and Laxman come in.

100 steps backward.....
by Vijayan on Aug 17, 2009 11:51 PM  | Hide replies

.....infact Dravid is unfit for any form of cricket, he should stop oiling Srinivasan and Srikant and beg a place back in the side.....particularly when Dhoni does not like his presence he shud not have been included, he will destroy the chemistry of the side. In fact Dravid n Laxman should be phased out from Tests as well... lot of youngsters are being deprived for these oldies!
