Forward step for u is take player of calibre of Joginder sharma, Goni,Raina,Rohit ,RP,Praveen,Ishant etc in name of younsgter & keep great players out of team because they are talented & experienced.
What a stupid logic?
Even laxman should be in ODI in place of Raina on merit. But dhobi will never go by merit as he always like chamchas .

If Dravid then why not Ganguly
by Medulla Oblangta on Aug 17, 2009 08:58 PM  | Hide replies

If selectors had plans for Dravid then why Ganguly was pushed for forced retirement. His one day abilities and track record is better than that of Dravid.

There was plenty of debate and stats here on Ganguly's performance in ODIs late in his career, and sorry to say it wasn't up there.

Ahh.. Dravid had been better for last few years, if you compare the stats in ODIs. Nodoubt Ganguly was the star in late 90's and early 2000

Good move
by Vikas Verma on Aug 17, 2009 08:57 PM  | Hide replies

The author seems to think too much. This move is not taken with 2011 world cup in mind. Dravid finds a place since a couple of players are injured. Inclusion of Dravid is an opportunity to learn batting as well as mental skills. It is the youngster who need to prove their strengths and not Dravid. Hope inclusion of Dravid help build a team for 2011 world cup.

I wonder sometimes if a player's inclusion or exclusion has an impact on the next world cup. A bad performer in the previous world cup is the captain of Indian team today.

whtever still it is very less than 80. its nt abt SR, its abt ability to adopt the situation. I think if we exclude the earlier days of dravid career, his adoptibility skill is gr8 n thats the reson he is gr8 n thts y he is in the team again. his 10k runs in both the format r proof of this.

Dravid always had ability to score fast but he was given role of sheet anchoring in ODI by management as lots of other striker like sachin, sehwag, laxman , yuvraj etc were there in team.
In later part of ODI career he made many 50/100 run a ball inning.

If dhoni is captain, he will never allow dravid to play in 11. He doesn't like any seniors -sachin, sehwag, dravid, laxman etc.

The blogs are getting ugly. I dont understand why people are bringing Ganguly into discussion. Some of the statements like "Dravid is match-fixer, selfish" will only sound funny. Why do people's dislike to a player turn into hatred? All of us want India to win. Let us see if this change works.

People who say Dravid is selfish are fools
by Agnello on Aug 17, 2009 08:01 PM  | Hide replies

People who say dravid is a selfish I have only one question "Is there any other player who played in all positions????". Thendulkar will cry if he has not asked to open. 1)Dravid is the only guy who played for team.
2)Whenever he comes to crease ppl always asked him to play safe as early wickets are down.
3)Because of Dravid India is winning now in ovaersease.

Tell me a single player who played in a toughest pitch like Perth, Lords. Its only Dravid.

So dont talk for the sake of talking. Dont take issues like south , north. Be sportive and support india.

I'm completely with you my friend. He may come second only to Robin singh in terms of commitment and contribution to the team. Dravid is a great guy who helped the team win matches abroad. We should not really attack him just because he plays slowly early on. In many situations our great openers (Sachin in the company of other lesser known mortals) are back in the hut in the first few overs itself leaving the score 10/2. What else one has to do except consolidating? And we will all be shouting at Dravid if gets out for an aggressive shot in such a situation. Everybody will have an opinion and suggestion to make.

I'm happy to see Rahul back in the ODIs.

i respect Dravid a lot, but to compare him with sachin is nonsense. Sachin the greatest player ever in the whole world. and who so ever MORON does not accept it is a psychopath.behnchodo he single handedly won as many matches as others dint play in their entire career. Aussies started scaring from india only after tendulkar made a mockery of their bowling. Dravid is best but tendulkar is better than the best.

Rahuldravid Backstabber
Re: People who say Dravid is selfish are fools
by Rahuldravid Backstabber on Aug 18, 2009 09:02 AM
Dravid's only fault has been in siding completely with Greg Chappal and Kiran More. When the selectors announced that "the door has been firmly shut for Ganguly" (its another thing the guy came back and his scores in the last few series are stuffs of legend), Dravid never said a word! He is a party to the crime, a true back-stabber.

Indian batting has become very weak. Therefore, Dravid is in. Otherwise we will be all out for 190 runs in 40 overs.

Shutup and watch... Dravid will show how much he can play ODI. If he thought he can not play ODI he would have retired from it long ago...
