Ganguly's Form as a Captain
by M N MHATRE on Sep 23, 2005 04:47 PM

Dear Sir,
It is very disheartening but we must accept that Ganguly is still out of form & he must think about taking a break for a while. He has scored a ton in the first Test, but the way he played & time he took to score last 10 runs,it was clear that the Bengal Tiger has lost his glory. We cannot afford a non-playing Captain at this juncture. With World Cup ahead, we will have to gain a lot of ground from a loser team status. The new captain will have to be given sufficient time to establish his Leadership & hence this is high time for a change.

Way to go Chappell

Finally there is a coach who has guts to say what is right and what is not. It is time for Ganguly to step down. He was a great cricketer, but I think time has come. Atleast we now have a coach, who says what he thinks is right or wrong. Other than the 261 ball century against Zim, when was the last time he had a good score. I say make Rahul captain and bring back Kaif. Also with coach's new attitude it will send a new message to Team India "Better be fit and play well to stay in Team". Your previous records and your Dada status will not keep you in Team.

The answer from Ganguly to Harsha's question was "YES I WAS ASKED TO STEP DOWN" on being asked by Harsha if Ganguly was asked to step down from captaincy...Why would Harsha point that question to Ganguly? B'cos Harsha might have got some info from the dressing room..then who is the CULPRIT.And Can we conclude that the followings can be derive from the above quote from Ganguly "YES I WAS ASKED TO STEP DOWN"..which the so call Top TV news channel claming.a) Ganguly asked Chappel abt his performance and where does he stand? b) Gagnguly left the practice session half our before due an argument with Chappel.c) That Gunguly didn't speak to Kaif for two days.e) Dravid didn't like the idea to change the captain before the test series.f) Team manager, Dravid, Ganguly and Chappel set together to sort out the issue ( which was shown in an animated form in the AAJ TaaK News Channel). How could we predict the above from the same quote.I am sure this can't be predicted from the above quote. Then who is the main CULPRIT.Are there other guys in the tean who are leaking the dress room information to media. Why are we shifting all focus to only Ganguly? still he is India's best Captain

This is ridiculous

Mate,

Whatever happened to confidentiality of emails here. I am pretty sure the coach must have sent this email to certain people inside the board exclusively and not cc'd it to rediff. Now whoever gave out this story is an obvious non-beleiver in Indian cricket and the irony is that the person is inside the cricket board.

Imagine writing a confidential/private email to your boss and having notices put up on every notice board. Media, you need to act more responsibly than that rather than trying to make a quick buck or two.

Recent controversy between Ganguly and Chappel
by dwarakanath reddy on Sep 23, 2005 04:17 PM

As long as a player is giving 100 percent effort to his team, he deserves a place in the team. But in my view Ganguly has become a burden for the Indian team for the last one year or so.He should notice that he is playing at the cost of another talented young players and Captaincy or even as a team member is not his own property.if He wants to continue as a member of the team he should play better by maintaining utmost descipline. If he is a real patriot and not a selfish guy he should quit his captaincy and make indian team a better fielding team as well as better winning team."Ganguly Please Quit The Team For the Sake Of the prestige of (y)our motherland".also "please Stop spoiling the team discipline further".please.......

Mr.Chappels's remarks and liberties as a COACH?
by S.P.Singh Chopra on Sep 23, 2005 04:10 PM

Sir has Mr.Chappel been appointed as a Coach for the Team or is he the Selector of the Team minus Players only? His actions are making everyone believe that Indian Cricket Board is working under the Coach Mr.Chappel.

Did the Cricket Board did not have the GUTS to tell Mr.Ganguly to step aside so they had to hire a coach to do the service.

Very Unfortunate and a shaby scene?

Ganguly unfit to lead
by Guruprasad N. on Sep 23, 2005 04:09 PM

I think finally, we have a coach who means buisness.

Look at the stats.
For Ganguly
2004-05 ODI Bat avg is just above 19
2004-05 Test Bat avg is above 30.
In test the stats have some lies.
Against Aus - bat avg about 19
Against Pak - bat avg above 9

Where does score then against Bangadesh - Bat avg 79.5
Only good thing he has an avg of about 48 against SA which is good.

I am surprised, he has been retained in the team this long. Captaincy comes next. But we do know, Dalmiya might be planning to create a non-playing captain for Ganguly as he did create a position for himself in BCCI! I think people of this country should stop watching cricket, if the board does not listen to the coach and goes with the useless player as captain.

Regards,
Guru

How good is this for indian cricket
by Dr Rikin Gogri on Sep 23, 2005 04:07 PM

well, this new e mail stirr has caused the worst ever damage to indian cricket. The result would be groupism within the team.Ganguly for sure is not 100% the ideal choice in the team as well as being the captain is concerned, but he should be given a break and play domestic matches to get back into run making ways and ability to face the big bowling attacks rather than be happy scoring an irritating century against minnows..

gunguly us fooling the country
by wilson on Sep 23, 2005 04:06 PM

Its very foolish to have ganguly in team, just cant beleive how the selectors put ganguly back as captian.

i feel he is burden in the team, he is not fit to be in the team, he si there only because money and influence play play a big role in indian cricket. Some foolish people talk about his record as captian,

then steve must never be removed from the australian squard, has he played one responsible ar a matchwining inings in two years?
