Ganguly should step Down
by Tomson on Sep 23, 2005 05:38 PM

It is high time that Ganguly stepped down and concentrated more on his batting. While Ganguly had all the chances, Greig has not even begun his real innings. He is targetting the Crown at the next world cup. He must be given all the opprtunites to explore every thing to rach that goal.

Ganguly>>>>>>
by Anil on Sep 23, 2005 05:37 PM

At last there is someone who can call a spade a spade. This is the reason why Australia is numero uno in world cricket. Ganguly should have been out from Indian cricket horizon way back ...but alas ....someone is here to show him exit door (though after much damage has been done to Indian cricket)..

Sooner the better....Thanks Mr Chapel....u r steering the boat and know where its going

ganguly - chappel rift
by k.k.kanva on Sep 23, 2005 05:29 PM

It is surprising to note that chappell has sent a six page mail to the board seeking removal of ganguly. He has got no business to ask ganguly to not only step down from captaincy but also get dropped from the team for the first test.Such a move would have put an end to his career.

Matches with zimbabwe and bangladesh are meant to be used for out of form players to get back their form and confidence.Ganguly has been out of form for a long time now, whereas kaif has been intremendrous form all thru the series. In such a case is'nt it foolish for the coach to ask ganguly to step down?

Yuvaraj and kaif are at present considered only as one day specialists.Once Sachin is back there is no place for either of them in the test team.Let them continue as such till the world cup 2007 after witch they can get into the test squad in place of Sachin & Saurav.

I don't understand why Chappell has to tinker with the test team to plan for the world cup?afterall world cup is in a one day format. All the experimentation he wishes to do can be done in the one day team.He should stop interefering in the captaincy issue and concentrate on his coaching. He is following the divide and rule policy which will

Coach Chaos

I think 2.5 million dollar job is too big an amount , therefore the coach is trying to save his skin+ pay packet.
I think India can afford to lose without such a costly coach so why keep him, we can lose anyway.

Ganguly Does not Deserve to be in the Team India
by PC Joshi on Sep 23, 2005 05:19 PM

Everybody would agree that scoring century against a team which cannot even draw or win against Bangladesh does not prove any thing. Taking so many balls to score a century and taking many more balls in nineties shows the intent of a batsman.Cricket is a team game and one must bear in mind that one is representing country. Ganguly himself new that Kaif deserved a place in the team. Moreover to play against such a weak team one does not reqiuire a Captain at all????

It was Ganguly who opened his mouth first (as he was able to score a sleepy hundred) in front of the media and brought the dressing room discussion out.

Chapple is a strong coach whi take no nonsense. He did the right thing by atleast speaking through email.

Ganguly unfit to lead

So we have to witness and withstand the devious plans of an ex captain of a team which plays hard - notwithstanding bowling underarm in a test match deciding last ball, - but always fair and above board.

Chappell has been able to instill a different fervour in the Indian ranks!

By his actions he has destroyed the Team India Spirit.

It's a pity but the selection of the big name rather than the tall man Moody seems to be a mistake. While Tim has been working silently with a less talented bunch, raising the morale of that team to turn to the winning ways again, Greg seems more intent on being the big boss. But would end up very much like Ferguson is faring these days in a different team game.

In Cricket the Captain holds a big mantle and the Coach cannot have the last word in the field. One rues the fact that the team which was full of camaraderie and candour -unlike any association in India comprising of people from different states finds its players going their separate ways. Good things do not go on forever.

Ganguly, Sachin, Dravid, Kumble and VVS must now rejuvenate the spirit and with the young ones the team can still win big laurels.Only Chappell G must now fly away.

Ganguly unfit to lead: Chappell
by Abraham on Sep 23, 2005 05:02 PM

Chappell is right !!! Irrespective of what ganguly has

achieved in the past, his recent performance is required to assess his place in the team. And who else

but the coach is in the best position to decide that.

If the coach does not have the freedom to express this, then it\\\'s a failure of the system. It\\\'s bad for indian cricket if ganguly behaves the way he is currently. I dont think chappell has such mean attitiudes neither does ganguly has the right to comment on chappell\\\'s character. Ganguly is NOT the gaurdian of indian cricket especially in this fashion.

Decision time
by Sumit Dubey on Sep 23, 2005 04:55 PM

Its time to take a decision for the selectors and the management. Now its clear that only one guy can stay - the captain or the coach.

If its the coach who goes, the world would have enough to laugh upon.
