Is Dravid the right choice

I would like to answer your question with a counter- question . Why the heck you have to identify the "Prince", the "Dada" so on and so forth as

"Bengali left hander" ? Is it to differentiate him from any other left hander from any other state ?

Have you ever seen Hayden of Australian team , Brian Lara of West Indies or Sanath Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka, identified by which state, county or darn locality they come from.

You are disgustingly "MEAN AND PROVENCIAL".

In my point of view, Ganguly should be the better choice. He has the captainship quality. The statistics is also say the same thing. But when we consider Dravid, in every match as a captain, only he played well by creating the pressure on his head and wasting the balls, thus send the team to the lossing position. He is unable to control the team.

Yes, he should have been the test team captain long time back. It is a tough series ahead. If he get the right team and support of players ( which was missing from Harbhajan and Shewang during SL Series) . he will perform great. Recently his performance seems to be on down side as taking away captaincy seems to affect him. There was no other option presently available except Kaif considering beyond 2007

No I don't think Dravid is the right choice. I know he is currently the best batsmen in India(or shall I say world) and most dependent in Indian cricket history but still I think he is not captaincy material instead of him oppurtunity should have been given to Virendra Sehwag

Rahul Dravid as a Captan of the Indian Team
by harish Kumar S on Oct 14, 2005 10:03 AM

I feel Drivid is 200 times better than Gonguly to be as a capten. we can expect a good result from him. His co-peration with other team members is very appriciatable. Also his performance as a wicket keeper, Batsman is very extra ordinary he has all the qulities to be a capten i wish him all the best for his tour to sirlanka Best of luck INDIA JAI HIND JAI BARATH MATA

Dravid as captain

The right decision at last. A lot of heartburn and embarrasment all round could have been avoided had Dravid continued to lead after the Srilanka tour. A mature person at the helm of Indian cricket is the need of the hour.

And I would avoid making comparisons of records as captain as it is unfair to both. You don't compare a person when he is just beginning captaincy with a person who has captained for a couple of years! If at all, compare the record of the first season, a couple of seasons, the qaulity of players available to each and the quality of oppositions!

Rahul the Captain
by K,R. Sreenath on Oct 14, 2005 09:54 AM

Rahul is a good player. But to make him captain when you do not have the regular one is not a great thing. It is additional responsibility. I am not saying that being a captain will affect your game, but the tension which builds up is that people expect that now Rahul is leading, we will have to see some change. This is the pressure he will have to put up with. Ofcourse given a chance and the time to settle down, he will be a good captain.
