Dravid has not been tried long enough for stats
by Vikrant Dhoke on Oct 14, 2005 09:49 AM

A total number of 17 matches in breaks cannot give a good measure of performance as a captain and Dravid has not been a disasterous caption too.

After all, a captains sucess also depends on team members on those teams. Great captains and poor teams dont achieve anything.

The point is, lets not depend too much on statistics. If selectors think he can do the job of captain, let us put faith in him and let him work.

He is the only remaining WALL in indian cricket, the only respectable player remaining who has performed consistantly and given us number of match winners as a PLAYER with more visible contribution to matches than that of saurav a CAPTAIN.

Dravid is right choice
by Mahesh Anantarapu on Oct 14, 2005 09:46 AM

Dear Viewers

I would like to share my ideas with you through this.

ofcourse Ganguly is good captain of India, but in his captaincy Dravid brought cheers to him.

Dravid is having all possibilities of making a good captain than Ganguly if he be given fair amount of matches to captain.

Ganguly achieved this after captaining for India in more than 100 matches in ODI's.

we should not go by records at all times but we should go with the present form.

if that is the case why Tendulkar has given up his captaincy.

here Ganguly is suffering with both his form and captaincy.

I am sure that David will be better captain than Ganguly if the BCCI persist with him.

Thanks and Regards

Mahesh, New Delhi

Rahul As One Day Captain
by Aloke Kumar Mukherjee on Oct 14, 2005 09:37 AM

Frankly speaking, Rahul is not a one day stuff/cricketer.He is too civilised to be an aggressive captain. You can not manufacture a captain and or imbibe cataincy qualities into him.His one day weakness will be fully capitalised by Australia,New Zeland and South Africa. There is no point in trying to make a civilised score in one day matches and these are ought to be won and hence I am sorry for Rahul. He is fantastic test cricketer.

Dravid as Captain
by Madhukar on Oct 14, 2005 09:34 AM

Certainly Dravid is the man to lead the side at this juncture. He has been the true team player eversince he became part of the Indian side. Just look at his track record - how he has changed his game and specialisation every time the team has called for a change in tactics. Can the same be said about Ganguly? Never. He has always played to prove a point rather than to suit the team's aims.

All the best Dravid. Lead on!!!!!!!!!!!

Rahul as India's captain
by debraj on Oct 14, 2005 09:32 AM

Rahul Dravid has been India's most consistent cricketer over the last 4 years and as such earns the right to lead the team. In fact given the current Indian team's form he is the only cricketer apart from maybe Virendra Sehwag whose name selectors can put down on their sheet without any discussion. Apart from being a classicist who has sharpened his skills to improvise Rahul also posseses an agile cricket mind. He is also similar to Greg in his approach to the game and the two could forge a great partnership that could take India to hitherto unreached heights. The task is cut out for them but i feel this is our best shout....

the right choice

Its not fair to campare Dravid's captaincy with Sourav's as the former has never got a chance to prove at least for two series like this before. I hope and he will definately be successful.

RAHUL AS CAPTAIN
by Ravindra Patil on Oct 14, 2005 09:22 AM

Rahul is not a choice as a captain,b'caus concidering 2007 world cup they should have selected a young guy as a captain so that he would have got more time to settle down as a captain. Some one like Kaif would have been a good choice.
