Regarded as on of the world's best defender and the most experienced player in the world not even picked up in the team.India clearly missing him at the home soil.....
It is very sad to see that the class of Indian players and the team is much below the standards of power hockey. Now we cannot expect India to be in the semi finals and it will be all one sided matches with India loosing. What happened to Indian Hockey ? I switched off my tv sets at half time yesterday as India was playing pathetic hockey.
Indian team is purely lacking strength and skills to reach opponent goal. Not just that, it is also unable to defend and giving away lot of goals and penailty corners. Obvious fact is the team lacking skills even with the inclusion of spain hero as coach... Team India, pls beleive in yourself... We are always with you.

THE TEAM NEEDS THE PLAYER LIKE DHANRAJ PILLAI IN THE FORWARD LINE.THE PASSES BETWEEN THE PLAYERS ARE VERY BAD.SOMETIMES U CAN SEE THAT THEY ARE VERY CASUAL IN THEIR PASSING AND THE OPPONENTS ARE FULLY USED OF IT.I THINK THE INDIAN HOCKEY FEDERATION HAS NOT GIVEN ENOUGH MATCHES TO PLAY BEFORE GOING FOR THE WORLD CUP.THEY SHOULD GO FOR TOUR TO ABROAD BEFORE ENTERING IN TO THE WORLD CUP.I DON'T THINK CAPTAIN DESERVES THAT POST.IT SHOULD BE GIVEN TO OTHER GUY.THE SENIOR EXPERIENCED PLAYERS ARE ALSO LET THE TEAM DOWN.THEY SHOULD CONCENTRATE ON PENALTY CORNERS CONVERSION AND PASSES.OTHERWISE IT WILL BE A DIFFICULT JOURNEY FOR THEM FURTHER.BUT THE SPAIN GOAL KEEPER AT HIS BEST DENIED INDIA'S GOAL.HOPE FOR THE BETTER SHOW.
First you people give us some wins. We donot like to see Indian team loosing. You people were not up t our expectations. Then how can we support Hockey???
We are getting good results from Cricket and that why we are supporting it.

Hope you never invented any game.. Hockey is 90 mins game (I may be wrong) But cricket is a 8 hr game...
First invent something, improve it, excel it...I have also not inveted or dected any game but I enjoy any sport irrespective of its rules, flaws, pros and corns..
Cricket was never meant for a Marathon style running..
Pls understand basics when you compare something..
In Cricket we have something to cheer so people are running behind that..In Hockey first the team shold give something to cheer and then Indians will surely welcome them..
I still remember when they returened victorious from Azlan shah tournament and there was a loud cheer..People started talking that Golden days are back..

I am making people see why Indians win in cricket and not in hockey.
Just to give U another example for cricket, Make those 11 players run for a cricket ball and make the opposition 11 players run for it as well....can be more elaborate some other day..

You know..there is a rotation policy in Hockey and Football ..so ideally no player continuously runs for 90 mins..also their positions are changed time to time..
Cricketer stand 8 hrs on a Hot sunny day (think Rajkot, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi summer time)

Lot of people are criticising cricket for the debacle in Hockey. Truely there should not be any relation. Why one sport should overshadow other?
Is that because of money only? Certainly not..
Cricket has also seen "Daily Wages" days during early 90's..
Many say that India has not won world cup since 83..
here is the stats: They won littel chanpionship under Sunil Gavaskar in 1985 ---Benson and Hedges Hero Cup Champions TRophy Asia Cup Champions trophy reached final in 2003 were semifinalists twice...
So there is noticable achievement.. And money did not come immediately..It was on the basis of results.. They also won few series against world (Quality teams)...Don't say Europion countries are not there in Cricket..(It is nothing to do about continent) USA never plays hockey China are not so good in Hockey..
What is the winning ratio of Indian hockey? After 1982...only noticable achievement is Azlan Shah...
And why there was no money till 1982 because world was playing game and not professional sport
Bring back game of Hockey and we will again see golden days..
How people will respond if there is nothing to cheer?
Pls don't abuse Cricket...Just change the approach..

Thats the difference in the sport.. Don't comapare the way Cricket and Hockey is played.
World salutes Tiger Woods (not for his misbehaving) but on field.. He just lifts the stick..hits the balls once, sits in the cart reaches next point..his luggage is carried by others..does that mean Golf is bad sport..its person choise and the people who watch it..

Mr. Think Tank.. I completely agree with you. Yesterday I started to see the match when 15 mins were left. Indians lost atleast 3 Penalty corners easily.. They (Hockey Players) need to give us something such that we can start cheering them again... Just for instance if Indian Cricket team loose atleast 5 series from now, then no body will be there to cheer them either

the way i see people blaming, sobbing for money is NOT just the missing.
Companies like Airtel who waste money on some Music awards can sponser the top 20 RANKED players of Indian Hockey.
But if those 20 players grew up being saperas with turbans i.e they only can dribble around their arseee and cannot run, are no good athletes stuffed with chikeen tikka, pork chooops, sambaar, XXX rum, stakes i.e undisciplined diet and no good body training. They cannot win.
Remember, the Auz took on Yoga at one time to increase their body flexibility apart from being trained in being good athletes.

Same problems in dealing with european teams have occured time and again. Our team is weak when compared to australia, Spain, Holland and Germany. It is only with repeated exposure and matches with them for 2-3 years that we can match them. Otherwise we will play them only in World cup/olympics (provided we qualify) and they will beat us. But the silver shining in this world cup is that hopefully sponsors and Tv channels will look at the potential and maybe PHL, hockey IPL will start and infuse some money into it. Money is needed into academies and organising tournaments.
