by hansda on Apr 17, 2009 07:47 AM

Due to the recent success against the best teams, it seems that success has gone into their heads.Their feet are not on the ground. There will come a time when they will fall flat on their noses.

"We will soon issue a new circular for public information and send a copy to the Home Ministry". Man it is known that Padmashri can be received by anyone if he has good political bias with a party. It was the politicians who belittled this great award till this time by giving them to their croonies. Then who will care for these absurd awards of India? Why blame the others?

must take such awards seriously
by Abhay Narkar on Apr 17, 2009 07:22 AM  | Hide replies

It is completely disrespectful to not attend such award. When a award is confered upon by state it is a matter of pride and when such awards has to be received from the President, must take it seriously. It is a shame that cricketers think they are above law and their game has given them so much fame and money that they dare to ignore a patriotic gesture. Such things mind you can not be tolerated in any country in the world.

On must have utmost respect to the office of President of India.

Few jokers below are making a mockery of the Sport Minister and his comments. How every unpopular or unacceptable the minister is, pls learn to respect the office bearer. Such casual and disrespectful attitute of many Indians is making India one of the most chaotic countries in the world.

ensure it doesn't happen again, they will issue a circular.... what a joke. They should be stripped of the award and asked to apologise to the nation. After all, the awards are given by the nation and it's people, through the government.

We are already suffering a blow to nationalism through a resurgence in regiolnalism. Even singing competitions are no longer about quality but about where a person comes from. These incidents further chip away at the core of Indian nationalism.

Awards & Sportspersons
by Leo Nazarius on Apr 17, 2009 06:40 AM

Why is the sports minister so upset? Was he unaware of the celebrity status of these cricketing greats? In retrospect, will he now admit that giving the award to these super rich cricketers was a mistake and instead it should have gone to the Olympic bronze medal winners?

Why give Awards to these money hungry jerks
by TanPanLan on Apr 17, 2009 06:17 AM  | Hide replies

These guys do not undesratnd the value of national pride, recognition & awards & the importance of societal decency. Both Dhoni & Bhajji hardly have any basic education & even if they did study something in from half baked Instituions of Jharkhand & Punjab...Then these guys get into cricket make success & see new money & get Nouva rich...then advert money starts raining.

Somewhere along here the poor Govt of India recognizes them ( also) & wants to bestow them National Honours called Pdma Shri Here comes the problem. To Bhajji & Dhoni- no money here in Pdma Shri award , they have to come to delhi at their own cost? no Taj hotel bookings waiting, no bollywood stars parties, no disco shows to be taken... come on your excellency President-& Mr Gill Sports Minister, you guys must be joking asking these guys to come to Rhastrapthi Bhavan for receiving a flimsy piece of paper & a rusting medal... Put 1 crore on plate & give these uneducated bafoons they will crawl on their knees & come...

Teach these jokers a lesson, ignore them, raid their houses on tax evasion always something loose is there to charge them. book them for drugs whatever- show them how law can catch up on them too.

Another thing is... why only cricket players getting most of the goodies??? it was a well deserved response... In the guise of awards, the congress wants to show that all stars belong to its sky, though the stars fall some day.... The congress is giving awards to film stars and cricket players, as if there is no other deserving person in this country.

If they both have been told that along with a medal they would get 1 crore rupees prize, they would have flown back from anywhere across world.
No surprise, work only for money.
