Take it or leave it..,
by kunal mishra on Apr 17, 2009 05:51 AM

Our presidents should've a second rung of sportspersons too..., who are deserving.., have a take it or leave it policy.
If they don't feel obliged or honored by the award..,therez always a place for 2nd person.

yeah, do not compare her to the queen, but President of India is the first citizen and must be given a similar respect in India as Queen of England should get in her own country.

Dudes your point is dumb. Awards are not asked or demanded. They are a recognition for your achievement. When a national award is bestowed upon someone to appreciate excellence in any field, the person concerned needs to get his ass up on the stage and collect the award. The president of the country represents the highest post after the prime minister. If the award is being presented by the president, then not showing up because you have commercial commitments shows disrespect to the president as well as the national award. Tomorrow they may decide to skip the national anthem. Will you justify it by saying that they never committed to sing the anthem????

it would have made some people (read sachin bashers) so happy ;)
They would have got one week to talk about something, in their otherwise void life

Problems are at both ends. definitely Dhoni-Bhajji are guily, but look the points how all govts are using these awards as their source of obliging their groups and treating it as tool of favor. Do we really feel that these awards do justice to talents. There are great ppl getting it but either they are very very great or they belong to some chamcha community.....If this was protest from Bhajji-Dhoni...I think we all were praising them....so leave it...chalta hai...india hai ;-)

I also very much agreed with you, that the India Govt. should be blamed for tarnishing the image of these awards. It is more politically motivated or who has good 'channel'. Also the president herself is not having a respectful image as it was for Kalam. Though I do not think, it is a sign of 'protest' from Dhoni and Bhajji - it is more of ignoring.

People are bashing these two for their money oriented behavior, but are these govt. officials are any better? At least players are spending what they are earning, but the govt. people, specially the ministers are looting people's money. What about that?

Award an great honour
by prashant deolekar on Apr 17, 2009 12:44 AM  | Hide replies

I Respect the Awards & not any person, If they r to be received by the President of India it is such an great honour. Every sportsman, artist, scientist, professional is excited about these awards.
Dont't make foolish comments about the President. If Bhajji or Dhoni would have any problems the would have informed the Govt. earlier. But these guys are oversmart now. Kick both of these players for such a act.
