Great Job
by leena on Aug 30, 2004 01:15 PM

Good effort and great performances from our stars. Really a good job with whatever minimum resources we have. Hoping to see India high in the medal list in 2008, Beijing.

Regards,

leena

What India should do now
by Dr.G Kumaramanickavel on Aug 30, 2004 01:10 PM

Give the Sports Authority of India to major comapnies like Reliance and/or Tata group and ask them to manage. As it is with the government we lack professionalism. I trust that handing it over to private groups would help us to get medals and not shame!

Highlight the other heroes
by Deutsch on Aug 30, 2004 01:05 PM

The panwala of our country knows about Sachin and other cricketers .....

I would beg to the media and the politicians to highlight this character who brought the only Silver medal for our country ... Le the common people know about this great performance...

The game cricket is nothing in front of this international competitive arena

you should feel ashamed to write this article.

dear sir,
you know cuba?.it ranks eleventh in medal chart.in 2000 olympics, cubans were in nineth position.for coming down in the medal chart,i think, that whole tiny country is going to feel a lot.china sent only the junior players because seniors are trained to perform miracles in 2008 beijing olympics.it expected only 20 gold medals from its junior players in athens but the final tally is more than 30 golds.in 2008,china will get the first place,no doubt.we always overestimate ourselves and your article stands testimony to that.we are unable to win even a single gold and even then you go on praising the standard of our sports.please don't do it again.give equal importance to all regions including north east .punjabis are shiny and well built but that alone will not bring glory to indian sports.see ethiopia and jamaica.how they did?they are more poorer than us.cuba suffers from US a lot.still castro's men prove to be best even in sports.
more over BAN INDIAN CRICKET OR ATLEAST SUPPRESS IT.that will do a lot to indian sports.

we should forget medals.. except in one category.. population explosion..
by kamal on Aug 30, 2004 01:02 PM

there is nothing in this world which can change how the indians think. there is no one in india who cal predict how india thinks. i am an Indian ( trying not to be.. as best as i can to become american ) and i know one thing for certain.. indians are not happy with what they have. they are not happy at being their best, they are not happy at letting a country progress, we indians are really a bunch of silly stupid kids.. nothing else. we cannot let any other indian shine, we cannot help any other indian in difficult situations; with this spirit how do we expect indians to shine in Olympics..
