Yes, a person who is capable of indulging in a sexual act cannot be considered juvenile any longer. The old law is outdated and should be amended forthwith. The UPA is sleeping still.

jail inmates

The other prisoners at Tihar jail had given these rapists a sound punishment. When Sarabjeet Singh was wounded and he died. Some jailed inmates attacked a Pakistani prisoner in India. I think Indian convicts are more efficient than the govt of India.

our laws and court procedures are centuries old fit for a colonial administration. time the laws are changed. the Sonia government instead of bringing laws passed unanimously to protect the corrupt politicians should have amended the juvenile laws. we cannot expect anything better from Sonia cacus. Inspite of having women leaders for decades India does not have laws which give justice to women. All our women politicians and many men are responsible.Hope Sonia will wake up and show the same interest in bringing a suitable law as she did in promoting Food Security Bill.

Our justice system is also bad and outdated. The total time for trial including appeals up to the supreme court and delivery of final judgement should six months, not a minute beyond that. Why should the judges enjoy so many holidays, summer holidays, etc?

Indeed it is so. For politicians, securing their positions and power is more important than rapes, murders, scams, foreign intrusions, etc.

Juvenile is 12 years. 18 years is minor.
by JayaKumar R on Sep 01, 2013 04:11 AM

18 years is minor age for wedding, legal property transactions, signing school records etc. i.e for non-criminal purposes. But for crimes age 12 is 'kid' and anything more is NOT juvenile. The judges should understand a rapist is not a amul baby and not a under 12 juvenile. Under criminal law 12 years should not be considered juvenile.

CLousy Laws
by Chandran KR on Sep 01, 2013 01:21 AM

Laws are for protecting the society and those who follow laws and not for the ones who break law.
