EVM paper receipt
by alagu achari on Aug 30, 2010 08:02 PM

EVM machine and a paper receipt out of that will be fine. Both should tally. The paper receipt should be kept for verification.

Anyway, never tell others how to hack EVMs.

God handed EVM to us?
by Thing on Aug 30, 2010 07:57 PM  | Hide replies

Human beings believe that anything that is tamper-proof, infallible, always right is handed down to us from God directly or indirectly (Koran, Gita, Bible etc). Does EVM fall under this category? If it is something made by man then it cannot be tamper proof. That is common sense. If someone says it can be tampered then he/she should be given the fair opportunity. And it is not necessary that particular party wants to tamper with it. Can't there be people or groups who are interested in seeing a particular party gaining advantage in an election. That is pretty reasonable to expect in any country especially when lot of money is at stake.

Stop Using EVM's
by Praveen Goud on Aug 30, 2010 07:54 PM  | Hide replies

Government should go back to Paper based till cent percent literacy is attained in India. EVM's can be tampered and is not the right choice when we have 40% illitracy can neither write or read in their mother tongue nor english to understand the machine operation.

EVM's can be tampered and is allowing the polling booth agents to influence the illiterate voters to vote specific parties or candidates.

Better, government go back to paper based ballot till we attain adequate literacy rate acquainted in using machines and do deliberate for compulsory voting to avoid buying votes.

Arresting Hari is attrocious and shows evil intention of Election Commision in acting as stooges as before....

Well developed and advanced countries are not using EVM's. For India, with adequate illiteracy and poverty, EVM's are not the right choice.

Election is is party based and symbol oriented.

Most illiterate person can also recognise and distinguish symbols propoerly.

We are spammed with symbols everyday through electronic media. To say that people can not recognise symbols is just being naive.

A fine gentleman could not win a post that he cherished all his life and did everything to gain that post.

He could not actualise his dream.

And he started hinting at EVM !

Suddenly, people have started parroting his lines..."EVM is bad !"

Have a life !

Do you have anything, anything in this world that is absolutely perfect ?

EVM's doesn't have just a single button on respective symbol to ease illiterates. In addition to that, it forces restrictive number of parties and candidates to contest.

Why don't all the major political parties accept to be listed randomly or bottom of the EVM machine ?.

The highly developed countries which intiated voting is not using EVM's, why would a developing country like India getting transformed from third world country from last 2 decades with democracy, system ,education , law and order being copied from developed countries to follow that?

For India, EVM's is too early and not suitable for illiterates in addition to the drawbacks of getting tampered.

Not just geting rid of EVMs, India needs to have compulsory voting and voting in a single day too...

Your broadband connection is far better than many Developed countries.

You may be implementing 4G sooner than many developing countries.

Voting in India in a single day ! And without technology !

Some leaders manage to numb your senses for sure !

Cant this be done?
by JIm on Aug 30, 2010 07:43 PM  | Hide replies

If the issue is whether or not the EVMs can be manipulated, then why dont the Govt set up a tribunal to which the parties which says EVMs can be manipulated will demonstrate how they can be manipulated and Election Commission will prove how they cant.. is this not a proper way out?.. in any case only one will be right so let both the parties prove their point of view.. what is the problem???

As I said before, we so grossly lack self-esteem that we tend to run down everything Indian.

EVM is a great development. Do not belittle Indian scientists who developed and implemented the system.

If one is hell bent, best swiss bank can be broken into.

Or, most sophisticated cryptography can be broken into.

That does not mean they are not workable.

People parrot some politician's derisive comments. And with repeated comments one just tries to run down a generally good system.

In Kashmir too, we have slogan shouting and stone pelting crowd at the beheast of some petty politician.

And here we too have some on the net !

Next, the gentleman should break into banks to prove that bank lockers are breakable.

Tamper ATM's to prove that ATM could be tampered.

Break into BARC to prove that the security is bad !

Alter missiles's programme code to prove that missiles are breakable !

And we have started hero-worshipping the gentleman !

Who other 2 guys collaborated with him? what's their motive ?

Discredit Indian Election system ?

Think again !

You have no clue!!!!! Ask advanced nations why they have credit limit of cash on ATM and why they don't have EVMs yet.

State election body(NOT CENTRAL body ) can allow EVM to PRINT RECEIPT (with time) of Current party tally/count from the EVM when voter casts his ballot.

That way, people can take the Current tallky receipt and verify any ongoing ghapla. The voter should also have confirm Voted candidate button on EVM screen as well.

THERE SHOULD AUDIO IN LOCAL LANGUAGE TO TELL WHICH BUTTON TO PRESS TO VOTE THEIR CHOICE.

ALSO AN "EMERGENCY HELP BUTTON" TO CALL REPRESENTATIVE OF ALL PARTY.

State election body will disallow single point of failure.

DETAILS ARE BELOW...

And stop inferiority complex before other nations.

Recognise your own achievements and have some self-esteem.
