Human beings believe that anything that is tamper-proof, infallible, always right is handed down to us from God directly or indirectly (Koran, Gita, Bible etc). Does EVM fall under this category? If it is something made by man then it cannot be tamper proof. That is common sense. If someone says it can be tampered then he/she should be given the fair opportunity. And it is not necessary that particular party wants to tamper with it. Can't there be people or groups who are interested in seeing a particular party gaining advantage in an election. That is pretty reasonable to expect in any country especially when lot of money is at stake.
Government should go back to Paper based till cent percent literacy is attained in India. EVM's can be tampered and is not the right choice when we have 40% illitracy can neither write or read in their mother tongue nor english to understand the machine operation.
EVM's can be tampered and is allowing the polling booth agents to influence the illiterate voters to vote specific parties or candidates.
Better, government go back to paper based ballot till we attain adequate literacy rate acquainted in using machines and do deliberate for compulsory voting to avoid buying votes.
Arresting Hari is attrocious and shows evil intention of Election Commision in acting as stooges as before....
Well developed and advanced countries are not using EVM's. For India, with adequate illiteracy and poverty, EVM's are not the right choice.

EVM's doesn't have just a single button on respective symbol to ease illiterates. In addition to that, it forces restrictive number of parties and candidates to contest.
Why don't all the major political parties accept to be listed randomly or bottom of the EVM machine ?.
The highly developed countries which intiated voting is not using EVM's, why would a developing country like India getting transformed from third world country from last 2 decades with democracy, system ,education , law and order being copied from developed countries to follow that?
For India, EVM's is too early and not suitable for illiterates in addition to the drawbacks of getting tampered.
Not just geting rid of EVMs, India needs to have compulsory voting and voting in a single day too...
If the issue is whether or not the EVMs can be manipulated, then why dont the Govt set up a tribunal to which the parties which says EVMs can be manipulated will demonstrate how they can be manipulated and Election Commission will prove how they cant.. is this not a proper way out?.. in any case only one will be right so let both the parties prove their point of view.. what is the problem???

You have no clue!!!!! Ask advanced nations why they have credit limit of cash on ATM and why they don't have EVMs yet.
State election body(NOT CENTRAL body ) can allow EVM to PRINT RECEIPT (with time) of Current party tally/count from the EVM when voter casts his ballot.
That way, people can take the Current tallky receipt and verify any ongoing ghapla. The voter should also have confirm Voted candidate button on EVM screen as well.
THERE SHOULD AUDIO IN LOCAL LANGUAGE TO TELL WHICH BUTTON TO PRESS TO VOTE THEIR CHOICE.
ALSO AN "EMERGENCY HELP BUTTON" TO CALL REPRESENTATIVE OF ALL PARTY.
State election body will disallow single point of failure.
