And Justice for All
by neelam roy on Apr 19, 2010 11:10 PM  | Hide replies

It remains to be seen when and how the real culprit, Lalit Modi is brought to book in the whole sordid matter. It suited people at the helm to attack Tharoor to show how quick they are at taking action qwhile they are giving a respite to Mr moneybags Modi. Real justice will be achievedonly when he is punished for the offences too. It is sad to see an intellectual like Tharoor bearing the brunt of it all. Let's hope that we ahve more such intelligent people in future to mae the country proud, unlike the maximum number of politicians that abound.

You pin L'Modi and skin him. That does not mean that the handsome minister is clean. In fact there is more responsibility for a minister to behave more responsibly than he did. L'Modi is not a govt. servant.

Congi enquiry into all IPL teams - looks like Congi has some info enough to finger oppostion(political / financial)

What a waste
by kush chatterjee on Apr 19, 2010 11:03 PM  | Hide replies

What a waste of an article space!!

If these are the reasons of Shashi Tharoor's failure, then no wonder the quality of our polity is so pathetic.

How can a guy like Tharoor with impeccable record (both in terms of integrity & calibre) till now, be asked to pack up on the basis of tweets of a self confessed criminal?
And this guy is representing BCCI at ICC meeting at present when there are reports that he has used IPL to make deals to pay off debtors from his erstwhile failed business ventures!!!

Amazed that people are picking upon Tharoor and defending Modi cause the latter has powerful backers!! With such people like Kalyani Shankar in the media, the country deserves to be fooled by criminals like Modi.

Who says that his integrity and calibre is impeccable? They why didnt he become UN Sec Genl? He got booted out because of his alleged role in shielding powers be in 'Food for Oil" Scam.

Congi Party gave him a very long noose. And he hung himself. Someone of his intellect should have known how to behave as a political leader. He didnt and he became a liability for the party. The party felt "thus far and no further".

He is smart; so are all crooks.

Don't know how to reply to your illogical post. One side you are saying Tharoor is smart. On the other you are saying he did not have intellect enough to un-entangle himself from the long noose the cong party provided him. First please put your thoughts logically.
And he did not become UN Sec Gen not cause of any scam. It was only cause the Korea garnared better support base. Don't think you will recall, even at the time when his candidature was being discussed, it was a well known fact that Tharoor is not going to win.

There are hundreds of proofs which are pointing to Shahshi Tharoor's involvement in the IPL Scandal...

Be objective. There is no proof apart from crimianl modi's allegation.
Going by past records, I will definitely side with Modi.

Wat about tharoors defense of Kofi Anan
by rohan khanna on Apr 19, 2010 10:54 PM  | Hide replies

oh yeah, Kalyani forgot to mention one very very important thing. 1 mistake which Indian govt made when it supported Tharoor's candidature for UN secretary general post. Tharoor vehemently defended Kofi anan and his son in the oil for food scam. Eventually Kofi's son was indicted by the inquiry committe. So Tharoor has a history of being corrupt and supporting corrupt people and its not surprizing to find him caught in another corruption story.

The further irony is that, according to highly reliable sources in the cricketing management fraternity, the 4.9 percent free sweat equity Sunanda Pushkar is being pilloried for does not even belong to her. A mere .5 percent is reserved for Pushkar. Disturbingly, the rest belongs — off paper and on trust — to two iconic cricketing giants, one of who is still playing for the Mumbai IPL team. This free equity is the quid pro quo they demanded for helping put the Kochi team and its promoters together — not a rank corruption perhaps in the larger scheme of things, but certainly an impropriety.

India's Mission Tharoor's Vision
by Raveen Ayathan on Apr 19, 2010 10:45 PM  | Hide replies

We support you Dr. Shashi Tharoor, a maverick minister with diplomatic and strategic intelligency. He lost his ministership bcos, he was straight forward and not corrupt. Sincerity and hardwork will pay one day or the other.

"Don't let them pull you down for you will take our hopes and dreams for a better and brighter India with you. You bring to India everything we had ever hoped would change, and we stand by you".

Roar Like a Lion, Run like a Cheetah, Walk like an Elephant. Dr S.T is the face of young India, He is a new age politician. We need leader like you to drive this county to a great future. Shashi Tharoor is the only highly qualified fellow in the present cabinet ministry. Felt bad when other fellowmen of INC didn't support Dr.Tharoor.

K.Sudhakaran, an MP from Kannur was strongly supporting Dr. Tharoor. Really appreciate that brave heart fellow. All CPM and BJP guys just waste for the nations. They live on our tax liabilities.

"Never, never, never, never give up.” We are always with you .. India need leaders like you and not cowards & mask wearers!!

Again I Support you Dr.Tharoor, keep up your good work, I'm (We are) with you..

well said

this episode shows the sad plight of Indian polity. A highly educated and cultured Sashi Tharaoor is being hounded out based on asumptions, whereas a convicted criminal like Lalit Modi is being supported and backed.

Lalit Modi was imprisoned in the US for peddling in drugs, kidnapping and attempted murder.

Oh I see, so the congress is a clean party now!
by Guru on Apr 19, 2010 10:23 PM  | Hide replies

What a wonderful sight to watch! The congress has finally weeded out it's one and only corrupt minister from the ministry. Now the party is so clean that it can now claim that any minister in it would come out unscathed from any 'agni pariksha'. Every congressman must be so glad now to see this only minister who has siphoned, looted and amassed tons of crores of public money, inefficient to the core is finally thrown out and now they all can now heave a sigh of relief and hope for 'moksha'
