another one bites the dust
by gittanjali on Apr 19, 2010 05:41 PM  | Hide replies

The situation is this that we all know a honest politician does not exist(majority of them),its a myth.

The hard part in this situation is that Tharoor looked the part who will bring that change in India Inc...but unfortunately he fell with a loud thud unware of our political tight rope-walk.

Hence there are a some who genuinely feel the loss inspite of his faux pa

Dont rule out person who has become the youngest Ph.D from Tufts

I don't agree that Tharoor left unsung and unwept. The currents may not be visible outside, but it is there (an example is the 'cyber reactions' - don't think it won't have any effect - times are changing) - and it is not yet time for ruling out an exceptional person who has become the youngest Ph.D from Tufts at the age of 22.

You see most of IASs in India are smarter than rest of us. So should we allow them to be corrupt and not take any action against anyone of them if found guilt? Smartness is no qualification, its a mean to achieve greater things. He may have been blessed with immense talent and intellect but if hes going to misuse that, then he better do that outside parliament.

I feel our role models should be Shibu Soren and Koda because our Netas support them. And our Netas are allways right.

I feel, due to his naivety Tharoor forgot to firewall himself from the IPL Kochi team. He was foolish to associate with them.

No money changed hands, he did not get money, he just knew a person who could do a job for the franchisee and introduced her to the other shareholders. That is not a crime by any stretch. They gave her the shares as they could not pay her as the franchisee was a startup and would be making losses in the first couple of years.

I dont get what people like you are saying. I detest politicians and their corruption. In one way, the out come of Shashi taroor story does suggest that the 'sweat equity' could've probably gone to Sunanda Pushkar because of Shashi Taroor's political stature. But I dont think any court of law can ever charge him or the franchise over that. The other thing is, like this writer many people dont know the work he has done for local people or the connection he has made (because of his genuineness and personal integrity) with the general public of kerala (not just the twitter savvy).

and moreover what are Sunanda Pushkar's credentials ? Was she running an event management company ? Was she an established a sports marketer ? Has she watsoever any experience in India for marketing sports franchises ? The answer to all these questions is no and you want to believe that she got 5% equity because she was deserving ?

You believe this story ? Which start-up in this entire world go on distributing 5% of equity for marketing services ? They had 1550 crores to buy a team, yet no money to pay for marketing services ? Stop being a fool and accept the hard fact that Tharoor cheated.

This 70 crores is the part which that they used to squeeze through the bid. They did not want another unwanted partner thrust upon them by Lalit Modi.

let all the corrupt politicians go!
by gittanjali on Apr 19, 2010 05:00 PM  | Hide replies

Tharoor with his acadmeic background and westernised attitude did not gel well with the dhoti-clad politicians, he was indeed a misfit.

He is ignorant of the ways of indian politics and people's perception towards politicians.

Irrespective of him being guilty or not, the greed and sleaze, I am of the opinion that he burst into India Ince like fresh air and zeal to bring about required changes.

Alas his open life has now cost him his political career in India.

If people like Koda, Maya,Laloo, Jaylalitha and many more can survive the political scene inspite of their track record in corruption why not Mr. Tharoor

But he did gel well with the dhoti clad ordinary citizens of Kerala. He won with a huge margin from Trivandrum, in spite of heartburn his candidature brought to many within his own party.

You stupid kalyani shankar. Your article is very biased. To my knowledge the only mistake and the biggest ever he has done in his life is getting into indian politics. A Bureaucrat at his level shouldn't have jumped into this dirty indian politics. Now that has tarnished his image completely.
