Gautam, I dont think you have seen the beauty of marine drive from Malabar hill or have seen an aerial view of it. You also have not read the article which states that the statue will be only ONE km into the sea... Please wake up!!

Ouch, you are right just one km. I cant understand how Maharashtrians will allow the statue to stand in gutter water, most of that place is gutter water. Wonder when someone will rake that issue!!

Sure they should tax you 100% and use all money on poor. Wake up, a nation needs more than charity to go ahead. Like valor. Like patriotism. Like inspiration. Like symbols and icons. And an industry like tourism around these to generate revenue for welfare porjects. If govt uses this money instead of the statue on welfare projects, then the babus will eat up 85% of it despite their hefty pay packets in the name of the poor. You cannot penalize other sectors for failure in some other sector's policies. Jai Hind!

You betray your lack of logic, analysis and conclusion when you post so think before you write. there is a stronger probability of you being a son of babu as you so strongly advocate the charity schemes which fill babu's coffers while I oppose them!!

Save the Forts.......
by Surendra Shete on Jun 03, 2008 11:03 AM  | Hide replies

I dont understand why does government want to build the monument in the middle of the sea. Rather they should take care of the famous forts built by Shivaji during his time. We have so many forts so many beautiful forts in Maharashtra which are not looked after by anyone. CM saaheb do something for these forts at the earliest.

Thanks.

If the enemy does not understand you language you can communicate using theirs. And thats what Shivaji did with great expertise. Muslim invaders got what they deserved. Shivaji then laid a secular empire and ruled wisely unlike Chambal dacoits. Chambal dacoits are outlaws who fight the Indian law of the people while Shivaji fought tyranny of invaders and intolerant politics (his father served the Muslims till they were reasonable) So learn to distinguish

Shivaji - The first Hindu king during moguls
by True Indian on Jun 03, 2008 10:48 AM  | Hide replies

Hi all,
I would req. all not to comment about Shivaji as its very close to all Marathi people. beleive me, what we have been tought about Shivaji, is just ten percent of his life. Specially bcose the center is ruled by congress for so long and they dont want this part of history to be known to others sp. north indian.
1) It was shivaji, who during moguls was the first king who successfuly formed his own kingdom and was always a challenge to aurangeb.
2) Shivaji's son, Sambhaji was so powerful, that after Shivaji's death, and after knowing that his mom was the one who poisoned shivaji, pushed her in a crack of wall and kill her.
3) About Sambhaji, he was in love with Aurangjeb daughter. Aurangjeb, after shivajis death arrested Sambaji, and tortured him and asked him to change his religion to Islam. When Sambhaji did not budged, his body skin, eyes were removed. Including his penis was sharpened. Finally the cell inspector, in pity killed sambhaji.
3) It was due to shivaji, that marathas(after shivaji, were peshwas) kingdom was so widely spread form UP to half of southern India. He laid the foundation stone for this. Reason for this success is never tought in any history book till today. and remember whereever marathas conquered, they never destroyed local culture.
4) Maratha fought the battle of Panipat in north India against East India co for freedom of India. Since then, they started shrinking and were pushed till MP (Gwalior). This part is never tought in history books.
J
