Shivaji existed victorious even before these text books were there. Text books just made an attempt to document it

IS IT BEING INSTALLED FREE OR BEING DONATED BY AMERICA ? WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY WHERE SO MANY FARMERS ARE COMMITTING SUICIDE BECAUSE OF BEING POOR. WHERE THE PEOPLE CANNOT EAT BREAD BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO MONEY. HERE THE POLITICIANS ARE SQUANDERING PEOPLE'S MONEY ON THE WASTEFUL PROJECTS. IT IS DEFINATELY SURE THAT THERE WILL BE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MARK UP IN THE GLOBAL TENDER TO FILL THE POLITICIANS COFFERS. YEH HAI INDIA MERI JAAN!!! WHERE EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

No need to always cry about policy failures in some areas to bring down others. In any case the tourism and related ads will be a constant source of income to pay for other things

BJP voters
by kshitij tumbde on Jun 03, 2008 07:44 AM

This is an election gimmick to influence fence sitting voters who may tilt in favor of BJP. One should not forget that on one hand Congress is giving marathis a statue on the other they are giving reservations.

Whats wrong in errecting the Statue
by Pugazhendhi Rangasamy on Jun 03, 2008 07:23 AM  | Hide replies

I see people suggesting about putting the money used to erect the statue to solve other problems. I do not agree with them. At least this way the money is spent to erect statue for a great leader for the future generations to remember or else that money would go to the politicians pocket.

I understand Maharashtrians deeply in love with Shivaji as he was the one who gave them the Marathi pride. The only thing I do not agree is when they arrested some one for posting his stupidity on a website. You can love someone but cannot expect everyone to do so. So arresting some one for saying some thing about some one who lived 400 years ago will happen only in India. That was his freedom of speech. Have you ever heard anywhere in the world arresting a person for saying something about a person who lived so long ago. This was all done for political purpose. I think people should oppose that happening in the name of Shivaji and not the construction of his statue.

correct. that's how it should be.

but when you see one section of community is given free hand to do rioting as in the case of (say) danish cartoon, or taslima, naturally there will be reactions on MF Hussian.

When Hindutva becomes strong, Congress becomes soft-Hindutva follower
by Tathagata Mukherjee on Jun 03, 2008 07:09 AM  | Hide replies

CONGRESS WILL NEVER DARE CRITICIZE SAVARKAR, OR SHIVAJI MAHARAJ IN MAHARASHTRA.

BUT IN REST OF INDIA, THEY WILL WHIP UP MUSLIM PASSION AGAINST THESE ICONIC PEOPLE.

That;s the fun when Hindutva becomes strong !!
