by Sambaran Mitra on Mar 19, 2007 04:29 PM

People out there who genuinely love bengal and want bengal to grow, should not call for buddhadeb's dismissal. Those who are gloating at bengal's plight, rejoice. My post is not addressed to you. Those who do want bengal's good, but still ask for buddhadeb's head.. please visit oshantomon.blogspot.com and tell me why you disagree with the points mentioned there.

Let the discussion begin.
And what the hell kabir suman is doing in India? Is he an indian or bangladeshi?

I am also very distress about what happened at Nandigram but please do not forget what our CM has done for Bengal single handedly during past few years. We who stayed outside Bengal how people look down upon Bengalis as the state does not have any industries other that sick ones. All other Metros were dveloped by leaps and bounds and we only followed " cholche na" politics. This is the first time Bengal is being projected as a developing state. Credit does not go to CPM or any other party, credit goes to CM. Blame mostly goes to local admiistration who failed to give proper feedback. Budhhdeb, being the head of the state must own the responsibility but like any other CEO he has to take action based on feed back.
Also he cannot control the unruly cadres. None of these political parties really bother about development of Bengal. They are simply encashing the situation to grab power. Even CPM is distancing itself from Budhhadeb as public sympathy is no more with him. If he has to resign it will be a sad day for bengal.

Madam
The problem is people like you who stay outsdie bengal has been impressed by the propaganda and the publicity of this Budhdha Brand. They have projected this to the entire nation. However, now the actual picture has come in front. We have never got a CM earlier who can lie to this extent. He can lie at any point of time on any subject. He is also more interested in doing "Secret Trade" with the industrialists rather than thinking of real development of the state.Industries are for common people and you cannot keep common people in dark saying "Trade Secret".This "Budhdha Brand" has made such a damage to our state, that it is difficult to say when this state would against stand up on its own feet.Killer budhdha has now entered in a blind lane where he can only escape by stepping donw.

Bengal crisis
by chandra sekhar on Mar 19, 2007 04:28 PM  | Hide replies

It is sad to see the Marxists failed to read the mood of people against indiscriminate measures of industrialisation. Not only Buddha misread the sentiments of the people, but failed to contain his cadre, who behaved like bandits. Just to blame naxals for violence is nothing short of failure to contain the lawlessness. How come the Buddha govt plan to take over agriculture land for industries when his colleagues elsewhere in states like Andhra Pradesh stall irrigation projects, highway works for want of more compensation. The doubletalk and contradictions within the CPI-M has come into open with this incident. Better the CPI-M end its double talk and stop taking over of agriculture lands for industries.

Ask your politicians to do the following:
1) Strengthen Co-Operative based industries;
2) Take responsibility of the products manufactured in the co-operative industries.
3) Re-structure entire tax system and get tax from richer and middle high class maximum.
4) Impose tax on agricultural products from the agriculturists who have got more than 100 acres land.
5) Withdraw exemption of tax for all types of investments including LIC.
6) Give finance for unemployed youth for making self employment under co-operative industries. These are the small ideas and can be extended further.

Buddhadev Bhattacharya - Good or Bad? A 'must read'.....
by S Ray on Mar 19, 2007 04:28 PM  | Hide replies

I think there is no doubt to comment with full confidence that Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharya, has been the one of the most popular CM after the first CM of Bengal, Mr. Biddhan Ray. The way he has steered Bengal to modernization, I think, no one appreciates better, than people like us, who had left Bengal for greener pastures of industrialization. Infact, Bengal have all the potential of a economic richness. The land reform act escalated the growth of agriculture, and till date, Bengal is ranked second in national agriculture. The state has always been an shopping ground of talent searching Indian and Global companies.

All was good and well in industrial front, till the communist mentality Left Front assumed power 25 years ago. Industry has not been able to strive well due, to lack of political motivation, and the blame goes to narrow minded communist people (who are personally capitalist when it comes to their personal wealth).

Buddhadev Bhattacharya, had been an odd man out of the communist thinking, which has not been socialist in anyway, though the older leader like Mr. Jyoti Basu may claim. I am not bothered on the comments on Mr. Prakash Karat, and his wife Mrs. Brinda Karat. They are basically novices on Bengal politics and communism. They only know what they have been taught. People like us have seen both the good and bad part of 'dada-giri' politics in Bengal.
Wherever, I move, people ask me the same question, 'Is every Bengali a communist, and if no how can you vote communist to power for last 25 year'? But alas!, they don't know the depth of the intellectual rigging (not the raw one which the media normally reflect to us for UP/Bihar). Intellectual rigging is beyond comprehensions of the media. Left Front has developed in Bengal. It can be taught as a management science, if one takes interest to make it a subject.
In the last decade, Buddhadev Bhattacharya, has always been a person who spoke above petty politics and promoted real growth issues for Bengal. He always spoke from his conscious, and even resigned once from the ministry, as Mr. Jyoti Basu tried to do something which is not for good.

He was the only simple living minister in whole India, whose daughter travelled in local buses for her college. I know this, as my sister and his daughter we best of friends. It was only after 9/11, due to security reasons this was stopped. His wife, used to pen her husband designation as Govt. Service, in the school and college forms. I can assure you guys out there that he is the one, whom we should be proud out. Bengal has not seen such unprecedented growth till time time he took over office. And who proposed his name, Mr.Jyoti Basu. It is said in Bengal, that Mr. Jyoyi Basu's contribution to Bengal was 'Chandan' (his industrialist son) and 'Nandan' (the intellectual multiplex of art and culture), till the time he proposed Buddhadev Bhattacharya name. He knew the harm he has done to Bengal and he knew the only person who can take Bengal back to her glory days is Buddhadev Bhattacharya.

Acquisition of land for industry and creation of SEZ, is a very sensitive issue, and the whole problem of it starts from the fact of giving unlimited powers to government to take over any land, from any individual, after giving compensation (which are peanuts). Guys, we should fight for the elimination of this right. Government is 'of the people, by the people and for the people', so how can government take away individuals right to wealth, be is a Rs.1000 crore or Rs.25,000.00. There should be proper tax regulation and various taxes to tax wealth for higher income group. The lower income group, has every right to build it's own asset however small it may be.
Industrialization and SEZ, can take a back seat for some months now till, we the people of India can define our democracy better. As it is we are doing it late, hence, let us be more judicious in this. A few months delay won't make us a poorer nation.
I think, we should attack the policy, file multiple PIL and make the court pass a verdict to the benefit of the nation, instead of slinging good politicians, and in that way, promote other roughs who are waiting to grab power as good people move out.
What Buddhadev Bhattacharya did in Singur, was just taking help of the law. He has not done something illegal. Rather to the irony he has moved on the legal path, on a rule, that has been used by erstwhile British government in pre-independence era. Guys, protest the rule. The rule has to move away to a better place logical rule.
As for Nadigram is concerned, police and bureaucrats too be blamed. It must be noted that bureaucrats still run the government on the ground. Hence, the onus lies on the IPS officers and the IAS. They act twisting the order sometimes. Can anyone, guarantee me that the order of firing was issued directly from the CMO office, or even the CMO was informed by the SDO and his superiors on the crowd violence.

LET US WAIT FOR THE CBI ENQUIRY

Let us join hands to change the land acquisition rules under the Indian Constitution.

Budhdha unmasked
by abby Das on Mar 19, 2007 04:26 PM

by abby Das on Mar 19, 2007 04:25 PM
Sir,let me give you one by one where Budhdha Bhattacharya sold his spine and lied.
1.He said 96% of the farmers of Singur have given their land willingly. However, when HIgh Court asked for the exact numbers, the Govt could only produce documents for 330 acres which is just 30% of the total 997 acres.
2.Once he said,"We are 235 and they are just 30".What he actually did not say or did not want the people to understand that out of total voters only 50.4% voted for Left Front(Including all leftisit parties) while the opposition got 49.6% votes. They are majority by just 0.8%.(Not even 1%)
3.Once this man said "Do it now" as if he is trying to break the shakkle. When the OC of Katoa PS killed Mr Tuhin Samanto he ddid not bother to answer the press even.He never took the initiative of arresting the criminal OC.
4.A few days before the nandigram issue our HONEST Cm said in a TV channel that "There is no question of sending police in Nandigram".However, within a week he have send police to nandigram
5.He said "Police had to fire for self defence".Well,so he must have read in advance that police would be attacked and gave modern amunations in the hands of police? He also said that Police went there to repair roads and bring back peace in the area.No where in the country poice goes to repair road with riffles and other modern amunations.
6.He said"Tear off the notice which started the trouble at Nandigram".Well, doesn't he know that a Govt notice when issued, merely tearing off doesn't make it inactive. One more notice against this notice has to be issued making the earlier one inactive. If he is not aware of this, then he should just resign for not knowing this procedure only.He is not fit to be a CM.
7.Mr Nirupom Sen lied about the Maruti Factory at Gurgaon in a TV channel. The next day Maruti published their website in a newspaper and proved he lied.Mr Biman Bose lied against Ms Medha Patekar and later he had to appologise once again publicly in a TV channel.Weher was Budhda then? Why did he did not take any actions against this liers?Maybe he supports saying lies.

People who have been brainwashed by this dangourous party has staretd to wake up.Bengal is waking up once again.Very soon CBI would give the list whom they have arrested to the high court. It is not very late when he has to leave throne and may also be behind the bars.

Buddhadeb should resign
by gita narrayani on Mar 19, 2007 04:26 PM

Regardless of the mandate of the people and the skewed development of West Bengal that he has ushered in, I strongly feel that the Chief Minister should resign. What is this so-called development?? Malls, multiplexes and shopping centres in overcrowded Kolkata and a "showpiece" Sector V in Salt Lake (which otherwise is falling prey to the usual encroachments, hawkers and squalor)and Haldia, what else? Large parts of the rural areas are still without electricity, medical services and the basic amenities for a civilised life and here we have another housing project on the Byepass by Gujarat Ambuja!! The gaunt and drawn faces of the villagers told a tale of deprivation, neglect and poverty. IT IS A SHAME THAT THE SO-CALLED PEOPLE'S GOVERNMENT THE LEFT FRONT, WHICH GAVE LAND TO THE LANDLESS IS NOW CLAIMING IT BACK. By what right, I would like to ask and who gave this government and its armed wing the police, the right to shoot down people who are only protecting what is their own property??
Buddhadeb Bhattacharya should resign, IF and this is a very big IF, he has any self-respect and genuinely feels he is responsible for the deaths at Nandigram. He has said he is responsible, now he should put his money where his mouth is and give up his post.

Should Bengal CM Resign?
by A Banerjee on Mar 19, 2007 04:25 PM

At first I strongly say no, not at all. The opposition so name headed by our great fireband madam Mamata Banerjee doing dirty politics over the future of Bengal. At least the CM has dared to move along with so much opposition from his other left front ally and the other party. Now I think the people has to decide what they want, industrialisation or just gossip without no work and lots of unemployment in the state. One thing also I wonder whether this is the first time in independent India, that some extent agriculture land is being acquired for Industry? It is very pity to see the opposition leader of other state do not want the growth of the state. I shall say it is a planned sabotage of Congress to see that Left front led by CPM is failing in his state.

Absolutely ridiculous. Who the hell do you think you are. The Pope from the Vatican or what. How dare you make comments against Bengalis in particular.

If your house or land was taken away for the so called industrialisation of the state then we would seen your reaction. You will be crying on the streets.

Very True. It is very unfortunate that this lady Mamta banerjee is trying to toe the line of Jyoti Basu and try to come to power.
Buddha is a great person, considering the difficulties he is facing. Killing and all is bad, but moving from agriculture to industry is always tough, but is inevitable and has to happen.

Well allen , may i know city or state of residence. You had said so much about our state that it seems that you know better than us.Can u explian me about this things:

A)Out of SEZ OR TATAS which company had promised or assured of giving jobs to one who are giving land.
B)What do u mean by that farmers will get huge amount that they can't earn in 10 years alos.Even if they earn this amount in 20 years still they will be beniffited because they have their land in tac.

C)As per the suicide by farmers are concerns only farmers from maharastra & andhra pradesh are number one & if u search with all u mighty eyes hardly u will find bengal name in that list.
D) As you seems to be educated person tell me if TATA is opening a factory for car for one lac than the entire system should be automatic their is no scope of man power than how do u expect that through that project bengal common peoeple will be benefitted.A factory needs only at 500 acres of land what will he do he will build colony for the staff who will work in that factory as major recuritement will be from mumbai & chennai.
D)We agree that Mamta Banerjee had done nothing in her life but be smart & openherated & accept that atleast she had guts to face thiscommunist gondas at her best.
I agree to all your point just
give me the answer of mine question i will really support you.

Bengalis are very much INDIANS dear , the first revolution started in INDIA against British Empire was from bengal only.To say that states like maharastra,gujrat.t.n, etc farmers giving framing lands to govt the major reason is they are beniffitted from that amount because cultivation is not very successfull bussiness in that part of india but as per north india & east india is concerned tthe cultivation is major source of livelihood for rural areas as the climate & land always support it.We from west bengal are not against industrilization but you know this ego full buddha deb bhattacharya is not ready to compromise on this singur issue that he is not ready to give opp road land (of same area but notcultivation) to TATAS as those land are not cultivation & the expense of establishing factory on that will be 25% more than the current .So what will you now say? Instead of pocking nose from outside first learn what is actual than say anything. If god is their & i know he is their than it will be beginning for end of an era of which people from bengal are waiting for long long time.bye buddha hope not to se you again .good person like woolmer meet the tragic end but god knows why people like jyoti, buddha, biman , ashok ghosh, stay till 90'S.

Dear All,

Don't think that I don't understand the problem. Industrilisation and growth will always cause good for many and bad for some. By alloting 100 acres of land will not make India beg for food. The farmers are influenced by local 'picky-pokey' politicians to create problems so that they wins electios. Basically, farmers are being used in this issue.

When US was witnessing growth in 60's and 70's, the same issue was dealt with clear vision that farming land is neccessary when it is neccessary for large scale manfacuring development.

WE Indians are the WORLD Champions in digging our own failures. Nothing more to say.

May God bless all. (If someone is there somewhere like that)
