No more Stalins, Hitlers, Saddams, Dweyer
by Bob Seth on Mar 19, 2007 03:57 PM  | Hide replies

The media and the intellectuals have to step up pressure and see that buddha resigns, let anyone else replace him from the left front or let bengal go in for a fresh round of elections.Buddha resignation will send across the message that No CM of any state can get away by grabbing land and later killing the right full land owners in cold blood.history will never pardon india if we let a person with Stalins, Hitlers, Saddams, Dweyer mindset to continue. In fact he should be treid for murder arrested immediately and put behind bars for getting poor helpless women raped, young children orpahned, young men maimed. His atrocities sounds very similar to what Hitler did aginst the Jews.

BENGAL'S NEW AGE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION-CPM STYLE?
by arnab bhattacharya on Mar 19, 2007 03:54 PM  | Hide replies

The great leftists of our country having extolled the ideals of socialism in all its wrongful interpretation and usage, over half a century, have only manifested inefficiency, indiscipline, insubordination, corruption and hypocrisy. The spirit of business and free enterprise have been besmirched to be crime and those who followed termed 'class enemies'.
Suddenly it dawned on them, big business and industry would be a boon for development but having scorned and sneered private business for decades. It speaks of their intrinsic confusion and contradictions.
However, in the process , politically no quarter has been taken into confidence . Fertile , arable lands have suddenly been earmarked for private industries and SEZs for reasons not properly explained. Entire process of land acquisitions have not been justified and transparent.
A fear psychosis and antagonism prevails amongst the rural agrarian community of their holdings to be forcibly taken over .
The bottom line is , the ruling party is in a hurry to earn cheap credit and showcase a make belief truth of industrial progress, being totally delinked from the ground reality ,ignorant of the plight and sentiment of the common people.
Brute and arrogance is the face of those in power. An impartial judiciary, vibrant press
and agile citizens%u2019 consciousness may help to contain the repression and expose to the whole country of an industrial policy which is neither workable nor acceptable. The ruling party need to do some soul-searching;.

Budha should not resign
by Pallan Babu on Mar 19, 2007 03:52 PM  | Hide replies

What will happen to Bengal if Budha resigns? At this point do we have any other leader worth mentioning his name who can take over the reigns of Bengal? Everybody is conveniently forgeting why the police were forced to open fire? And what was the villagers protesting against? The protest was purely inspired by some anti-social and extre left elements who were hitherto condemned by the people and who all of a sudden rose to glory. No one now blames the TMC or the likes for fomenting trouble in Nandigram but on the contrary every body is trying to make a villian out of Budha. This is ridiculous. The real blame lies with the protesters and the police for not taking prompt action earlier. Hope Budha can turn the tide against his opponents sooner than later. Wish him all the success.

Would you think it is ridiculous if he would send in goons to rape your mother and kill your minor brother or sister. Please do not Profess without knowing the very basic truth. How do you consider so many intellectuals and other people of the state to be less concerned about the develpment of their own state.

The problem of the country is that less-informed people give too much opinion about things they least understand.

Very strange, Mr Basu. u r talking about those intellectuals, most of whom who never agreed about the TERROR what Jyoti Basu's (and also SS Ray's) regime had shown us. I am sure, u ve never heard about and had been to Sashan, Midnapore, Sunderban and lots of other places.
Buddhadev Bhattacharya, though being a CPM CM, had changed those days.
He has helped people like us to dream about coming back to Kolkata who were forced to leave the same city where they were born and brought up, to get a decent job and to work in a decent environment.
He had changed the public perception about Bengalees and Bengal amongst general public of India and he could have done it much better had that gimmic-queen of ours were not available.
Who will run this State in absence of him?? Mamata!!!! As a fellow bengalee, pray to God that u get well soon frm this nightmare.
incidentally, no one will support rape and how d u know whats true? just like us, u r also makin comments without being available there.

Asis Bagchi
West Bengal
by Asis Bagchi on Mar 19, 2007 03:51 PM  | Hide replies

West Bengal is a state of hooligans and goons funded by political backing. Not a single politician is honest! They all join parties in the beginning to do good for others and then end up doing good to themselves. People out there are lazy, without appreciation of what is good for them! State is overpopulated, protectionist, and thoroughly self-seeking. It is time to learn from other states and improve work culture dramatically if it has to survive.West Bengal is really and trully in need of a good quality reform programme in all the sectors of social development. The state is a rubbish tip and teeming with population pressure!! Does it have a future?

A K Bagchi

As the left party has the majority, there is no question of any other party to come in the Govt. However,we can always have replacement for Mr Budhdha Bhattacharya from inside the leftisit party itself.
