Rahman has turned into a brand these days. People are happy just if the song is done by ARR; and are not bothered about anything else. But it's time for them to open up their eyes to reality. Just compare the songs he composed a few years ago with the crap he churns out these days. His credibility as a music director has taken a deep dive.
I have seen some people who can't digest if some people are getting lot of appreciations ... I feel Rahman has no enemies but lot of envies...
Many people are commenting that a Song is good only if it is being liked in the first hearing itself.. this is ridiculous.. If that is the case I never liked any Hindustani or Karnatic sangeet when I heard first .. is that mean those are bad? First, we have to hear the song.. it is new to our brain.. the brain has to store the music and lyrics.. It is not that we just hear the songs.. if you just notice, we sing along it internally.. only for that matter, people are saying listen to his songs 5 to 10 times..
I am not saying all his songs are good.. he is just a human being just like you and me .. we all do commit mistakes in our respective fields ..
Robot, is not as bad as you guys describe ..
You should appreciate the variety he is offering.. itz like a new dish your mom prepares thinking that the you will like it.. if you don't like it that doesn't mean mom is bad in cooking .. because she can come up with a good dish next time .. Don't forget, except Blue all his albums were good in the last couple of years..
Please don't be emotional .. As Indians, we should know how to treat our Icons ..
Media is fooling the poeple and the country by projecting the undeserved. ARR is one of them. There were/are many Music Directors in India who actually deserved Oscars including his father RK Shekhar.

Bhai I donno about his dad but Pritam, Vishal Shekhar, Shankar Ehsaan all gives a better music than AR and one thing I wanna highlight Oscars are not Music awards...If AR Rahman gets a GRAMMY than he is on Top..Oscars are for Movies not Music oriented

Without giving the award to Mastero Illayaraja the Oscar is not a prize trophy.
The award should B given to Dr.Shivaji & Musicians like MSV, KV Mahadevan, Ravindran, Salil Choudry, Keeravani, Lamikant Pyaryelal & few others to follow.
In addition to the above Singers like TMS, PSusheela, SPB, KJ Yesudoss, PBS & AM Raja, Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lataji, Ashaji, Vani Jayram, S.Janaki, Mukesh & few others.
To add few more names R there, which do not come into my mind.
Sorry.
These people should Deserve first than others including ARR.

Each and every composer listed above had their Uniqueness..for some one like AR Rahman, Sound is his key strength...so he would've propelled the likes of Kannadasan to Oscars had he got a chance to work with that that genius
Rahman is sometimes overrated. That is becos v expect a lot from him. The more v expect from him he screws it up even more. I think he has to just stick on to do some conventional music and not some drag which even he cant comprehend end of the day. And also he shud stop singing, he cant sing for nuts. Some songs he sang b4 are good, not the ones he is doing lately. He has lost it completely.

I guess the producer or the director asks him to do so, cos he's being paid for that. But I don't think non of his songs have ever flopped. :)
ARR is liked by only those who dont know indian music & melody. Lyrics of his songs are hard to understand, he has been giving pathetic music since long, yet getting lot of appeciation and awards thanks to New generation which is far away from real indian melody.His CWG theme song is another example.
