Rahman at his worst
by Hirendra Chatterjee on Sep 02, 2010 09:21 PM  | Hide replies

Rahman may be a good composer of music, but he has failed the CWG badly. He is neither a singer nor a lyricist, so why were these two jobs also entrusted to him? And he should have contributed the score free of cost. Charging 5 crore of tax payers' money for this junk is a crime. His Hindi is atrocious.

Charged 5 crores, took 6 months, and delivered junk of the music.

Just check how Shakira made it to World Cup Football. Waca-Waca was true facelifter of the World cup.

A.R.Rahman is a highly overrated music director. Don't understand why media hypes him so much. He is just and average music director giving average songs. Look how he has spoilt the mood of already spoilt CWG games by giving third grade music despite taking Rs 5 Crs from Govt for singing in CWG.

Shame on you overhyped, overrated A.R.Rahman

Rahman's music was cute for a while...no longer. The Oscar award that was given was a fluke...Gulzar who wrote the song, Sukhwinder who brilliantly sung it and Pokuttly who did a great job in mixing it deserved way more credit than Rahman. Have you heard his Common Wealth Song? Pritam is twice as good as our little man from Chennai.

Rehman is highly over rated music director, He eats up lyrics and his music lacks melody. Yet he is regarded best music director. Even Pritam is far better than him. Look at the songs he has composed in last 3-4 years most of them are hit. Yet he has not been given any award.

The whole music of Taal Movie was composed and most of the songs were sung by Sukhvinder Singh. But Sukhvinder got always sidelined and Rahman was always given the credit that belonged to other people.

Even in Jai Ho, written by Gulzar, music by Pussycat Dolls and sung by Sukhvinder, its Rahman who shamelessly received the Oscar. Sukhvinder was sidelined again.

That does not mean you discredit his talent and contribution.

Even Rahman was a street boy and someone might have given him the break, but did not suppress him. Otherwise he too would have been in third class of southern movies.

Its really surprising how such disastrous, loud, cacophony of electronic instruments and rare vocals at the highest scale with atrocious lyrics can be called music! Of course in India, you can claim anything if you have the right blessings, like Kalmadi a good administrator (I am sure he will have a memorial dedicated to him someday), our crown prince the best PM (never held any office so far), pro-people politicians, etc etc.

Now rahman wants to keep his best music for foreign films so that he can get a Oscar and give the second grade music to Indian Films. Rehman pls dont do this because only Indians have given u so much Fame and respect . The theme song of CWG is also not good .

Endhiran Tamil lyrics is mind blowing ...
by Get Educated on Sep 02, 2010 08:20 PM  | Hide replies

Actually the songs are great! There is a strange thing that happens with every Rahman music.

When you listen it for the first time, you feel its very average, but when you keep listening atleast 5 times, you start feeling the music is great. The music grows on you or you develop a taste for it.

It’s like drinking beer. First time you feel what a horrible drink, how come all the people in the world drink this. But after drinking it for 5 times atleast, you feel it’s the greatest drink.

Besides, Rahman is a versatile composer. He has sucessfully composed Bhangra, Sufi, Qawali, Hindustani, Tamil folk, Carnatic, Western, hip hop, melody, melancholy etc and well appreciated by that segment of the people.

So what if you don’t like the music? It is simply not meant for you, there is always a segment of people who are dying to hear his music. If it’s not for you this time, then you are not lucky!

Ya that's true i agree with this critic because I personally heard the songs in Hindi which were funny because of bad lyrics. No North Indians will like this movie that's for sure.

But for all North Indian's who didn't like the songs in Hindi listen to the songs in Tamil you will definitely like it for sure.

Shankar should have hired good lyricist
by Andy on Sep 02, 2010 07:18 PM  | Hide replies

He should have done one of the 2 things:

1.Either hire good lyricist like Gulzar, Javed Akhtar or Prasoon Joshi

2. He shouldn't have dubbed only this movie in Hindi

All Shankar's movie barring Kadhalan, Nayak had very bad lyrics in Hindi

Shankar should have learn't mistakes from the past
