Law of averages

Just look back into the history whatever goes up has to come down.Rahman has touched and stayed at Pinnacle of glory for 18years.He is still ruling the Music world. But one thing everyone understands that he may not permanently enjoy this even if he had been Tansen in his past birth.I totally agree that Robot lacks the Punch of Rahman. There is no melody numbers in the Album, so called melody also has failed to stir the soul.

AR Rehmans Golden period
by amit mishra on Sep 03, 2010 06:46 AM  | Hide replies

It was between 1992 to 2000 where AR Rehman gave beautiful hits. Even at the first time, his songs are good. Now a days his songs are not good compared to his previous songs before 2000.
Really the movie's like Kannathil Muthamittal, Ayudha Ezhuthu, Baba, Paarthalae Paravasam, Guru, Kaadhal Virus, Sivaji, Raavanan, even Endhiran not his usual best.
In the last 10 years his best song was Andha neram Ahdhi Neram from Vinnai Thaandi Varuvayae. His place was take by Harris Jeyaraj and Yuvan who both too giving same type of music. We need some different musics.
Look at Ilayaraja who had scored more 750 movies in 35 years and his songs are still good. Maybe his songs in last 10 years as not good as previous ones. But in one of the year he had done around 50 movies that year itself. This AR Rehman has not even completed 50 movies in 18 years.
Ilayaraja is the best, was the best and will be always best.
No comparison

Roja was his peak. After that its all mediocre stolen western music fused with Indian folk music.

His Bollywood music were not made by him, but by various music composers behind the scene. For example Taal music was composed by Sukhwinder Singh who sang most of the songs.

Amit, assessment spot on. IR is an all time best and cannot be compared to anyone. His songs in the 80's are evergreen and the magic will never fade away.
I agree with your comments on ARR music for most of the movies you listed except Kannathil Muthamittal. KM had some fine melodies such as 'Vellai Pookkal', 'Deivam thandha poove'

ARR Overrated
by Syam Krishna on Sep 03, 2010 03:58 AM  | Hide replies

All three compositions : CWG, Robot and Puli (Telugu Movie) of ARR lack soul. Quality of ARR is going downhill.

All those who feel that we need to hear his compositions for 5 or 6 times, tell me if you felt the same with his earlier movies like Dil Se or Roja. If you think one should listen to music for 4-5 times before you start liking it, why dint you watch RGV ki Aag 5 times? Who knows, you might have LOVED it.
