Mistake - Remove Sallu from the list. Sallu has given 12 flops and only 1 hit in last 3 years. For SRK and Aamir, I agree.
Let movies flop.. what is there? .. let the black money come out and go to technicians...I prefer 90% of the movies should flop. Anyway nobody is going to become poor because of movies flopping..
Earlier ManiR made a Rajnikant starer - Thalapathi. a modern day version of friendship between Karna and Dhuryodhana (Mahabharatha). He made the unforgivable mistake of making Dhuryodhana (King Mamootty) die and Karna walking away with arjun (played by arvind swamy)!!. For his commercial success (he thought his movie will fail if Rajnikant dies) he 'murdered' the basic concept of political virtue that the Leader of the army must die before the aggressor gets anywhere near the King.
I decided then that Mani as a film maker is an intellectual fraud. Yet to see any further movie of his.
I don't know how he has raped 'Ramayana' this time!!

Great observation!!!! I saw dat movie (dalapathi dubbed in hindi) and expressed similar thoughts but my frnds didnt take it too seriously. In my opinion best adaption of any epic is "KalYUG" directed by shyam benegal and which tells us the story of mahabharata in todays perspective.
I dont think Ravaan is as bad as Raja has pointed out in his review. It may not be Mani's best work, but it is definitely worth watching once. It is much better than some of the crap that we have seen recently. All the actors have done a lot of hard work and it shows. I think Aishwarya was the best among the lead actors followed by Abhishek and Vikram.

Everyone has their opinion. Just because you did not like Ravan does not mean everyone should hate it as well. I respect your opinion and I expect the same from you. Dont have to write insulting remark.

But SRK's worldwide popularity and boxoffice track record says something else. Compairing superstar with flop star doesn't make any sense.

then we go to neverland where hollywood airlifts its movies. say hindi movies not indian
The movie was very disappointing as they was nothing that was exceptional except cinematography. We as an audience understand that the movie is made to suit the commercial needs and also to appeal to the palate of a larger crowd, but its time the film makers take the onus of creating fiction and myth of the present and the past.
Raavan is the blend of the present and the past. We suppose the issues are of the naxalites vs police, which is not made out to be very clear in the movie. The most disappointing in the movie is Aishwarya Rai's role or the lack of it. She is our modern Sita, whom Valmiki's Sita would be ashamed of. She is so lame and dumb but somehow spirited. she is a typical woman that the right wing politicians would want Indian women to admire and idolize. she dances when her husband is shooting for fun and does not apparently has a life worth of anything. She just a bit perturbed to hear about the rape of Beera's sister..but not appalled or does not react against it in any form...
she does not have a mind of our own ...she undermines the women of today...her character undermines the very spirit of Ashwarya Rai who has been so successful in her life. It is indeed surprising that she accepts her role as a modern but coy woman who accepts any nonsense from her husband even if he is faking it!!! she does not mind being used by her husband to get back to his enemy! Why?? Can somebody of her position not demand and make the much needed changes to create a new Si

A.Rai is neither a feminist nor a liberal. She just got lucky in the gene pool and her good looks fetch her films and money. That's all we have in Indian films - good looking women. Do not be surprised if she joins one of those right wing parties and espouses the virtues of a traditional Indian woman.
