Aishwarya rai is as good as plastic, but with exceptional round and deep belly button. Love it.
In this entire world of epics, how come 'Ramayan' alone inspires the great director Maniratnam? He was previously inspired by 'Mahabaratha' ( Even he has copied the scenes in Mahabaratha such as Kunthi Devi sends her son born out of illegal relationship in a box which he could have avoided exact copy ) in his previous tamil movie - Thalapathi. He might want to depict the ten head Raavan for 10 different personalities. This might be his one line idea behind the inspiration of this film. Akira Kurasawa film's also works on various plot and registers the human emotions. But they are well knit with social problems and they were well discussed. These pseudo directors are half educated in this.
There is the books from Epics which say that Without black a while cannot be spotted. So somewhere the Concept taken for ravana is outstanding. Secondly about the movie. 1. All Charecters where well played and really had a good original sense. 2. Lot of hard work has been put on the scenes which can be really seen in the movie 3. The Only part where i felt the improvement was the screen play or Editing(either Very fast ending or slow wereever not required). As a conceptulizer the moviemaker should have really thought on that sense. Otherwise the movie is really excellent
This review is bad as seen in other websites and media. The movie is fantastic and it keeps the audience hooked to the screen completely. Yes, it's a slow movie, so what ? Except for Mani Ratnam trying to enact all scenes of epic ramayan, I dont find anything odd with this movie. Brilliant cinematography, soothing music and good performance by artistes.

story and tight screenplay is the soul of any movie.. all other aspects like music, photography, performances are only aides.. i think screenplay fails big time..

I think people need to remove themselves from the preconceived notions and reviews and just go for the movie without any expectations, as one should with most bollywood films. I did, and for someone who hadn't even heard of this much awaited Mani Ratnam film till the day I actually came across it (much after its release) and decided to indulge in a bollywood film after a very long time, the 2 star ratings made no difference to me. And needless to say, I enjoyed every moment of this visual treat. That the mis-casting, bad performances and lack of narrative was such a surprise to everyone is surprising to me. What did people expect from Abhishek- a sudden talent to fall from the heavens? He does try though. And Aishwarya's eyes, skin and Sabya attire set against the breathtaking backdrop somehow overshadow her lack of acting skill, and even her sometimes over dramatic/bordering-on-annoying performance. As for Vikram the famous south Indian hero- I had never even heard of him so for me he was just another mediocre/comical Hindi movie actor. That people can't shut off to the lack of intellectual stimulation in the screenplay and bad adaptation of the epic is also surprising to me, although an immaculate narrative would have made a perfect film. But somehow the imperfections don't matter and completely get lost within the visual journey of the story, which, for me, is what the film is about. Watch the movie on mute, if you have to, but watch it- preferably on a large screen.

People go with some expectations and they cant digest if it is not usual one... I havent watched the movie... but I see most of the people are commenting that their expectations are not fullfilled

Sethu,
u are right.. ppl go with expectation man.. cos the director sets the expectation by songs, videos, promos etc to market his film. There is aura created.
It is but natural to expect, so what u show and show before release.. if it doesnt stand.. there is disappointment..

Well ist upto you to get fooled by advertisments... being the film of Reliance company... they would create lot of hype even if it is directed by Karan Johar
Raja sen just uses all his english vocabulary wealth and blabbering.... he doenst talk about the film at all... he just start to comapre mani with varma (mani produced many hits even before varma starts to direct)... and then sen cant able to digest the way rama is portrayed.... and he cant able to digest when seetha is question (what a pitty people accepts it when it is in epic ramayana). Raja sen I didnt watch the movie... but for sure you are juts giving ur personal opinions rather than talking about movie...
I watched the movie- Tell u its visually stunning and absolutely Mindblowing. A must watch movie with gud performances by abhishek and aishwaria. Though its slow in some parts-the superb picturisation elevates the standard of the movie. Raja sen- Stop reviewing the movies and sit at home watching some masala bollywood movie of akshaysalman or ranbir.
