Jai ho...
by Palakkadan on Jan 23, 2009 11:33 AM  | Hide replies

Infact, Jai ho did not reflect AR Rahman's calibre. Some songs he did in Tamil and Hindi films valules much more than this..... but Oscar and Golden globe awards do not take these cinemas and its music even for consideration. And some malayalam and bengali films are ... I rate... better than those films which are nominated for oscar films. These are hidden arts which are for viewers who know the values.... not for getting awards...
I do not rate the oscar the best award. And if ARRahman gets oscar, it doesn't mean the other musicians from India are inferior. They are hidden masteroes...

Good brother oscar is not measurement of indian cinema standard...
oscars only for english films..
indian filmfare any time given any awards to kate winslet..and brad pitt ..even decaprio..
any time they worry about indian awards..like this only...
but surely one thing you remember...ARR got almost alllllllllllllll awards ...
oscar will include in his pocket soon..

Do anyone of u know today in Netaji birth anniversy
by Satya Pandey on Jan 23, 2009 11:32 AM  | Hide replies

Here all ppl are busy prasing Rehman but does any one of u remember today is Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose birth anniversery I know hardly any of u remember it. It is the plight of the India that we do not remember our real heroes who fought for the country but rather remember false heroes who did nothing for us even if Rehman wins oscars will it solve the problems faced by India, will it eradicate the slums of India. Always remember a country which forgets its past can never progress. So instead of wasting your time praising Rehman go and work for the nation. Even rediff is not interested in remembering Netaji if it has been SRK or Big B they must have published an airticle on them and on their journey but they will hardly remember Netaji Subash Chandra Bose

We are only allowed to remember Gandhi Nehru birthday and only what they did for our country. I suspect after 50 years if any one will know if there were other people who worked for Indias independence and economic developement, all credit are only meant for Gandhis only.

If Western Director is depicting the poverty of India, why can't our directors showcase the something good about India.

But our directors like Karan Johar or Aditya Johar doing? They make movies which are Western shot in Western locations and the team is only India. The movies which they make are disconnected from India. For example, the movie - Race. Is there anything Indian about that movie? Its shot in South Africa, all the people there speak Hindi. Is there anything Indian in the movie apart from Indian actors and Hindi?

SLUM
by samuel paul on Jan 23, 2009 11:29 AM  | Hide replies

Can anyone explain to me why there is a slum in India? And why do people literally bark about a film that is showcasing the true picture of India. And Indians it seems have the 1st place in depositing money (black money) in Swiss banks.Where did this come from?
Truth is always bitter becoz Slumdog millionaire is a masterpiece made by a (Human Being) britisher it cannot be digested by some (Human Beings)Indians who crave only for themselves.

Slumdog

There are many views on Slumdog Millionaire in Indian Media. One of the view which is expressed by many people is - The movie depicts Indian poverty and Western people enjoys seeing poverty and thus movie got Oscar nominations and also became a blockbuster.

But the fact is when people from outside country expresses their candid views about our country, we do take outrages? Why?

Is it not true that majority of policians are corrupt?
Is it not true that the life of poor people near suburbs or in slums near railway tracks is similar to the one shown in the movie?
Is it not true that some of the poor parents send their kids for begging (with a photo of God)?

And why do we think that Western people only want to depict the poverty of India. Why do we think that they only knew about the poverty in India? They knew that we are going to land on Moon. They knew that our cricket board is richest in world. They knew that our IT capability is no less than others. They knew that we are necleur power. They knew that we are top in terms of Agricultural Procuts export.

They also knew that we are impotent in terms of handling Terrorism. They also knew that our politicians divide our society in terms of Caste and Religion.

Just wait to fight over another Western Director who makes another film on above issues. We can again say that they only point about the negative aspects of India.

Also there is dialogue in the movie. It goes something like this. India is the centre of the world. And I am in the centre of India.

Doesn't that show what the Director thinks about India? Or what Westerns think about India?

If rahman is nominated even for OSCAR..its better for other original mastreos to quit from oscar if they are nominated..
Rahman lacks creativity rather he perfoms gimmicks and the support croud determines the quality of enthusiasm...

Indian movie can get 20 oscars if we can make movies on our slums in Mumbai, brothels in Kolkotta, genocide in Gujarat, railway toilets, caste discrimination etc. Americans will think that will be more natural and very Indian.

Again Mr. Nag is not getting the point. He is too much involved in his dreamy wealthy lifestyle that he forgets that it is a movie about victory against all odds.Have u actually seen the movie?I don't think so.The british director has shown a kid from our indian slums winning 2 crores and not a british kid winning. And that too without cheating.Or is it that u have a problem with a slum kid winning...Mayb.........Hmmmm.

To everyone who liked this Slum dog. Its a pathetic movie.
by Indian Indian on Jan 23, 2009 11:14 AM  | Hide replies

We watch movies for entertainment, not to go and cry seeing that my india is such a bad and poor country.
We can take pride on many things in india, but poeple like u are always pessimistic and not happy with whtever progress india is doing and complain abt each and everything. Why don't u try to change the world around u?
there are 200 odd software companies y do u talk abt only fraud in satyam. there is so much growth in indian economy by the taxes paid by software companies and its employees, but people like u only talk abt satyam.
If some one makes movie that u r a bad guy will u accept or u will accept if some one talks bad abt ur home even if its true, same way a person who loves his country will not accept slumdog is a good movie, i agree with Mr.L.Shankar, i love my country however bad it is, i will contribute and strive for the developement of my country in every possible kind, i don't want someone to show bad image of my country. Iam positive that we will india has very good future.

Every country has its own good and bad points. SO many people are goin job less in US,companies are getting bankrupted, the attitude of americans , bcoz of american spending habits who world is in recession will any one dare to talk bad abt this?

Mr Indian - how or why is the concept of loving one's country related to making a film, which is a form of art? Do you think that stupid films like Devdas, Paheli or Race truly reflect India? How many times have you seen Indian women dancing in the middle of a road or in a filed wearing designer dress as we see in the mainstream Hindi films? Do you mean to say that only films which are unrealistic should be made??
