Slumdog quotient
by Bodh Ramdeo on Feb 28, 2009 10:41 PM

Bollywood does not make "films".
Rather, what it churns-out aplenty is pukey, badly-choreographed, badly-acted, mind-numbing music-videos posing as films. Had 'Slumdog' been made by an Indian director, rather than than a firang like Boyle, the 'film' would have ended-up being even worse garbage than 'Asoka' or the plethora of other such filmis portraying historic or serious content. One should not look a gift-horse in the mouth- so say thank you to Danny Boyle, who as he says, made this film "dil se".

Future of Indias film indutry is in shifting to English
by NamoUdupiSrikrishna on Feb 24, 2009 05:33 PM

Future of Indias film indutry is in shifting to English, to be global in nature.

Indian professionals, scietists and thinkers have succeeded asnd recognised when they started doing their bwork and expressing their talent in a globally recognised language, that is english. Indian film industry has to come out of the its over dependence of hindi and regional languages and has to shift to English to be global, for more exposure, for survival and to show case its originality, before outsiders export their products for our large englsh enabled audience. English is the language which has won the battle of dominance in world and when we adopt it we too are part of that. Otherwise bollywood will face the fate of Spanish, French, German or rabic language movies. English is the common language for Indians and it is foreighn language to every Indian, love it, marry it, reproduce it and make it your own to succeed.

English is the global medium of communication for the new millenium. make it yours, Bollywood, then surive and succeed. Make Indiam movies with Indian stories, Indian stars, Indian settings, Indian songs, Indian technology in Indian English. This is the way to go, get recognised and to success.

Jai Hind,

by Priya Jay on Feb 24, 2009 12:41 AM

Its time, Mumbai POliticians who were calling themselves as 'Saviours of Mumbai', should be ashamed and come out to clean/clear the Slums.

It is time that Slum people are given a hand to uplift their lives.

it is time Mumbai dadas/ppolitical goondas making power/money with slum people's votes, should come forward and accpet that the Poverty is because of them!

Shame on Mumbai Politicians to have slums in teh city and not helping slum people to get anty better!

Accepted. I too was emotional immediately after watching the movie but later on i realized that what he shown is existence only. So we have to Look in a other way - Positive way. lets not give any opportunity to anyone to make one more Slundog Millionaire, 60 years over now, so why still slums are there? clear it... uplift there life also. Give them opportunity to study, to earn and to live basic life. Mr.Thakrey you there?
