Excellent piece of writing

Good article. If "Slumdog" generates interest in Indian cinema, Indian actors, and Indian culture, that benefits India. We have the world's most beautiful women on our screens, some pretty good male actors, and much to teach Hollywood. Let the good times roll!

what is positive about this movie? Shame on you!
I have never seen white folks clapping after a movie until this one- it seems movie just relieved them of their fear that India is getting stronger, richer and prosperous.

Give me money and I can also make a similar movie to show England in bad light. This movie is nothing but very selective biased twisted white man's wet dream of seeing India as a perpetual 'sick man of the world'.

Did you read article about those street childen who acted in the movie got a few pennies while David Boyle is raking in millions?

shame on slumdog

as though there are no slums in the western world. there are thousands of homeless even in snow covered areas who shiver and sleep like dead bodies in the mortuary, they sleep on the snow in the roads of these foreign countries. why dont they take a movie on them and showcase their western poverty, instead of turning the spotlight on us and throwing shit on others. if their aim is to get the good movie on top, then why was'nt 'black' nominated for the oscars. so now u see, their intentions are clear, they are jealous of india, so they want to showcase them in murky waters.

shame on slumdog

The westerners take pride in depicting india along with africa, as the land of snakes, in discovery channel and national geographic channel. they dont want to accept and acknowledge the process and developments in india and its IT and scientific progress with greats like Mr. Abdul Kalaam. so they take immense pleasure to ridicule and publicize our negatives and eclipse our positives. do they really have to showcase a young boy immersing himself in a shit hole ? what will the audience who have no knowledge about india think, if they see that the economic capital of india - mumbai's airport runway is the cricket playground of the slum kids ? as if foreign aircrafts dont crash land on the land or in the water ? as it is, if any foreigner wants to travel to india or africa, they are so scared of all sorts of diseases and take all sorts of vaccinations starting from malaria, etc. as if they dont have every disease starting from AIDS, STDs, etc. in their own country. so showcasing a negative india in the foreign eyes, is definitely not delectable, if quality is what gets on top, then why was ' tare zameen par' not nominated for the oscars. so dear indians, dont be proud if the slumdog gets the oscars, b'cos, it is not for praising india, put to trample it and shame it in front of the entire world, that this drama is dedicated. beware all u true indians with the indian spirit.

AAA, grow up dude, appriate good work. No one can compare slumdog and Tare zameen par, TZP is just a family drama filled with some sentiments, but Slumdog is classic. Coz of narrow minded guys like AAA, india is still a developing country. Some guys like you never grow up and show mind to appreciate good work. LEt me ask, y no indians raised voice against the filim TRAFFIC SIGNAL, which protriaits indian slums and beggars ? That got award in india, no one raised voice, so we know what happening in india and agree that, if someone else find that, then will start thinking narrow.

They think India is like that
by jet on Feb 21, 2009 01:58 AM  | Hide replies

one of my colleague saw the movie and asked ne whether I too lived in a slum like that.? I had to explain him that India is no 100% slum. Well Boyle has made a honest movie and his intentions are not to show india in poor light.? If bollywood and some indians are concerned that only -ve India is shown in these kind of movies, then let them make a movie with all kinds of ve things and make it a world hit, then people all over the world will go ga-ga over india.

Just because its British Director....
by Passed on Feb 21, 2009 01:18 AM

I think the movie depicts the truth, but it still is not a great movie to get so much hype. I have seen better movies on these lines done by Indian directors, but they did not get any recognition, because the West had the mentality that anything that is not created by them are not worth the prize.
