INDIA - Lives are hard for the poor, but nobody sits and wallows in self pity. They take action to improve their lives.

Socialism was an experiment to renew India and it failed somewhat but was not responsible for the impoverishment of India. The industries that were set up under the socialist era are being revived and will make India strong again. India was impoverished by invasions by well armed cretins steeped in the ignorance of the koran and bible. India will find renewal someday and restore her respect in the eyes of the world.

Amitabh and Slumdog

Amitabh is whining a lot about Slumdog. To make him whine more, Slumdog must get atleast 2 Oscars.

Shameful that you are so excited about the Oscars - it is an award program like the star screen awards ... for hollywood. To get so carried away is stupid. Also - I have seen the movie ... and there is nothing in it even remotely comparable to TZP - for instance. It is a showcase of Mumbai poverty - and talks to a western stereotype ...

Amitabh is jealous...he thought he was a 'super star' for many years and he made many movies that appealed to the masses in India but he never made it popular internationally. Now suddenly a simple movie with not popular stars have made it internationally and no wonder he feels so jealous and probably feels like a loser

i strongly agree with Hari. though, it was a onetime watchable movie, but i think it was brilliant for those who dont know the real india. they just know that there are lots of beggers, lots of slums, lots of dirtiness and poverty, callcenter and taj. that all were shown in the movie.. thats it. perfect package for them.. but what a useless!! never an oscar movie... shame.
atleast 20 better movies than slumdog, happens each year in india. and they never get even listed in the final five. so, never care about oscar.

Showing indian slums...
by golfdude on Feb 22, 2009 02:21 AM  | Hide replies

For all those folks who think other Indian film makers have shown the plight of Indian slums but did not get the attention, it is very simple: Make the movie interesting to reach a mass audience. Make a movie, not a documentary or some artsy crap where you can doze off and still not miss much. Go write some original screenplay instead of looking to the west for the next DVD...

Thats hillarious!! And there are still people who think there are atleast 20 better movies made in India every year. One thing for sure,, buy a DVD (from Hollywood), rip it, run it through speech to text, thats your script for new Bollywood movie, with some Chutney (non-sensical songs) on top.. and your perfect bollywood movie is ready.. JAI HO,, Chopras and Johars,,

Look Dude! Maybe ya actually liked the movie in spite of all its flaws. Now i agree that the 1st half of the movie is really good. The kids have acted brilliantly and everything, But the 2nd half is PURE CRAP!!! It's BULLSHIT!!!! Danny Boyle has made better movies, Trainspotting, 28 weeks later and Sunshine. But this is NOT his best :).. And as for those who talk about not accepting reality, This is EXAGGERATED REALITY!! Why does every damn bad thing happen to Jamal Malik only???? But then, I'm just gonna get flamed because "hey,it's a movie about India at the Oscars.. What more do we need"????

what do you mean "every bad thing happens to jamal" ? Without any education, He found a job in a tech company, he got into a quiz show, he became popular with millions, his friend was always with him, he found his sweetheart. Does the cup always seem half empty ?

About Slumdog
by avik pal on Feb 21, 2009 10:23 PM  | Hide replies

Actually those who r blaming Slumdog for showing the Indian slum , I think THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT THE MAXIMUM REALITY(as far as I know) OF INDIA because Slumdog is showing finger towards our eyes that though INDIA is developing very fast, in the back side of development we kept many of our brothers and sisters in which position , after seeing that we are shouting that Foreigners are selling our SLUMS

I didn't understand why you are saying "ppl have nothing against intention of film". As far as my knowledge "Foreigners are selling our slums(as i came to know from many dignified Indian personality through media)" is related to intention of the film.

And by the way The film is not Childishly Stupid.you are talking like childish. It is not expected from a Film critics
