ur way of thinking and living and belief was questioned by periyar.
think how easy it would have been for him to encourage violence.
if u accept his criticisms in a healthy manner, our religion will be better.
remember that from buddha s time ,hinduism has been found to be full of unnecessary things.
atleast try to read one of his books.

Indian region seems to revere persons who victimize their own fellow Indians belonging to some other region.
Periyar who victimized Brahmins
Jinnah who was mainly responsible for partition
Prabhakaran who kills innocent Sinhala civilians
etc etc. Something is wrong in the brain wiring of Indians.

EVR was a British Stooge
by Shivkumar Singh on May 02, 2007 10:53 PM  | Hide replies

EVR was a British Stooge that spent his entire life sucking up to the British masters.

Common Tamils thought of EVR as an Idiot and always voted Congress.

It is C Rajagopalachari's detente with CN Annadurai that resulted in take off of the dravidian movement. Annadurai made some strategic adjustments such as belief in God and belief in the integrity of India.

It was unfortunate that when Annadurai died, the evil Muthuvel karunanidhi sidelined the principle disciples of Annadurai, introduced gutter politics in Tamil Nadu and took charge. It is the third rate MK that has continued to eulogise this third rate EVR no end.

Tamils continue to suffer under MK's misrule. An attempt has been made to brainwash the brave Thevars, the Smart Gounders and the capable Pillais to give up their core values.

A day will come when Tamils too will spit on the statues of EVR as I did once when I entered TN.

how much do you know of Periyar?
at least he brought in self respect for Women, lower caste people

If that's why you have to SPIT on his statue, that shows how much you respect other people and your character.

Which one of the following brings self-respect to women and is worth rewarding? Choose one answer:

1) A 60 year old man marrying a young girl in her 20s?

2) A man using women mainly for his pleasure as a play boy all his life?

3) A man abusing his mother, even after she died

4) Playing a debonair, denying his wife of children?

5) Asking women not to wear Tali.. God knows real reason.

Artie - If none of the above, did he do something in secret for their self-respect?

Doesn't he deserve what singh did?

Singh, whats the point of an India,

where people
push widows in to fire against her wish,
discriminate against each other with caste,
and
people with no self respect, living and adjusting to the above everyday?

Typical indians, who want to capture a seat/power/position in society, and then hold on to it for genearations refusing to allow others,
will only be the ones complaining against Periyar!
and these are the ones spoiling India in becoming a developed/super power.

we need to bring in a party which is
inclusivist
has long termn visions
has patronage of hinduism
has non interference in religious entities
has unequivocal inclination towards India and Indiannes

has no sympathies whatsoever for ani national forces
has reverence for the hindu roots of tamil culture
stops abuse of tamil by film makers for their profiteering
prevents incitement of people along caste lines
gives more preference to meritocracy instead of crass opportunitism in increasing the reservation pie and bringing quota within quota for undeserving people like christians and muslims

never compromises on tamil interests

delivers on effective governance and industrial growth, instead of giving out free Tv and stuff which is a like a band aid to an internal haemorrhage

why there is so much hatred among Indian orgin people. Indians,Pakistanis,Bangladeshis,Sri Lankans have killed each other in the past and in some places are continuing to kill . Why is there so much of hatred in Indian people. I dont understand. India and Pakistan were so close to a nuclear war which would have killed millions of people. Based on some or the other pretext we kill each other ie caste, language, religion, ethnicity etc. Looks like we are really immature people.

Periyar A Great Leader.

Talking of the Brahmins I would like to say these people joined hands with the Brithishers during colonial period example Former B.J.P Prime minister. They started to learn English in those times and they started becomming interpretors, tranlators and secaritries to the Britsh Raj, the Brahmin because of the linguistic advantage misued and abused it to maximum level.Who are these Brahmin they are are Arians a race which is differnt from dravidians . Even after independence they congress was dominated by the Brahmins and it continues now, though many have switched over to the B.J.P.
But for Ambedkar ,.Periyar this country would have gone to Dogs. Even L,K Advani we think he is hindu farcist but he just acts in that way, because he was not a brahmin the sangh parivar never allowed himn to become the primeminister.
Brahmins are bascically not Indians in the strict sense.
My mother was from a orthodox brahmin community and my father is a tamil christian . My mother has not seen her brother for the past 40 years.Becasue my mother became a Christian He considered my mother to be dead the joke is both of them are in the same city of madras.
But I cannot understand why should they send thier son to America which is christian country .They want money from America but not relationship. It is a total hypocricy.
We cannot say all brahmins are bad only few of the people are very cunning that cannot be refuted. But after all we should forget all the past and look towards a new India.
May God bless India

Dear Rev,
Reverse the history: When Britishers came to India they wanted our money but did not want our men to marry their women. Right??
So hypocricy, as you have spelt, is not with Brahmins alone.
Point number 2: LK Advani is a Sindhi Brahmin.
Point number 3: Brahmins never dominated the political sphere is India. Most of the Kings were not Brahmins. Most of the chief ministers, governers and ministers ruling India and the Indian states are non Brahmins. So Brahmins are basically the scapegoats created by reverands like you.
If Brahmins who have lived in India since Vedic times are basically not Indians then what about Christians like you ????
Periyar's movie shows Brahmin priests smoking ganja. This is disgusting and a blatent lie for which he deserves to go to hell.
Dont waste your time precious time reverend. Countries like Indonesia, Pakistan and Somalia need you !!

Rise of Christianism resulted in dark ages in Europe. It took europeans five long centurys to free Europe from the tyranny of the Church and bible.

We in India should not allow Christianity, an outcome of dark ages to take dominant position.

Dr. Kalam Iyer (that is how he is called on account of his interactions and respect for Brahmin traditions) did well to keep the idiotic Catholic lady Sonia Gandhi out.

Ernest,

Having fallen to malicious propaganda and converted to the other death cult Christism, it is not surprising that you are quick to defend the charlatan and rabble rouser EVR. Having defected to another religion why not you focus your energies in cleaning up the mess that your co-religionists have created the world over? So mind your own business and shut the **** up! Just because you raised the issue here are some points for your own better understanding.

He was a Kannadiga (as M. Karunanidhi is Telugu) who masquraded as Tamizhan (one might even "rationally" defend him by saying that he has done much for Tamizh, despite that fact!). TN has been under Telugu, Kannadiga, Malayalee et al, except a true Tamizhan -- the last was CNA, albeit briefly.

Now back to the snake EVR...

He married a girl decades younger than him, in twilight years, so much for his "rationalism"!

This charlatan was given his weight in gold, I belive for his 80th birthday! This when millions of poor continued to suffer silently in TN!

He was a British stooge who was opposed to India's independence, and actively capaigned against it with his "Justice" party. Talking of Brahmins there were more of them who gave all for the freedom of India and its masses than you this chameleon EVR -- Subramania Sivam, Vachinathan of Maniyachi, Bharathiyar, etc., are shining examples which the "Dravida" govt. never showcases as they have done in the case of this charlatan, that too with people's money. Imagine how much this 95 lakhs could have benefitted the so many poor in TN!

Name one religion that is perfect. Christists have massacred entire civilizations in Africa, South America and now in Asia (including India), why did not EVR try to reform them and their ways?!? He was especially fond of ridiculing his own religion, although at home he was a devout Hindu, even after he was on his own (just a M. Karunanishi is, his first wife never skips her daily visit to the Sri Krishna temple in his neighborhood and the entire family prostrated before Sri Sai Baba).

Nearly 60 years of (mis)rule in TN has seen the poor remain the poor -- that is the objective to keep them poor and often use the bogey of the poor Brahmin, fully knowing that the Brahmin is completely marginlaized, financially/economically and in numbers! Please see the documentary to educate yourself (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7Xgc4ljHKM ).

Now back to the venomous EVR...

All he did was divide the Hindu society so that the missionaries, mullahs, aetheists, and marxists could have a field day! Now we are seeing yet another propaganda of this vicious, undeserving, hall of shamer, that too with public money!!

Brahmanism and its caste-based vedic religion are the root causes for most of the problems in our society like untouchability, gender inequality, illiteracy, superstitions.. the list is endless... I agree that the problem has spread to all sections of the society and not propagated only by Brahmins now, but it is important to hit the problem at the root.

Periyar was the first and the strongest voice against the oppression. His revolutionary movement might be viewed as an over dose by few but it was required to fight a 4000 years old evil. Periyar is a true hero for me and for crores of other people.

I know most of you who are throwing mud here, know very well why a Periyar was needed and still you will do your propaganda as you have been doing for 4000 years. At least now, mend your ways and mingle with the society. That%u2019s the best way for you to coexist with the rest of the society.
