mr prasad has used the term kelattu karunayee against periyar
by dinesh kumar on May 02, 2007 08:04 PM  | Hide replies

such terms are never used by anyone tagainst brahmins.

only when the brahmins start spewing venom, does retaliation follow.

for evidence ,just check this forum.

just check who uses offensive language.

mr prasa, periyar is not conducting a debate and offering commentary on the religions of the world.he is helping his people to get self respect.

darling brahmins are too bsy eking out their livewlihood, that they have no time to engage in a battle of superiority.when they get selected for posts without any crutch, that itself shows their superiority.they dont have to shout from the rooftops.

the hatred of sethuraman ramanathan
by dinesh kumar on May 02, 2007 07:58 PM  | Hide replies

there was no overt hatred on this forum before mr sethuraman ramanathan came on.

he is a prime example of spewing venom.

during the entire self respect movement there were the most minimal cases of violence against brahmins.and yet hitler is brought into the picture.brahmins are 3 % of the population and they can compete for 31 % of the seats.

Periyar was true God
by Micheal Rao on May 02, 2007 07:58 PM  | Hide replies

I have searched for piece and equality for many years. I had follwed Jesus and the Bible since birth. Even in my Church there is tremendous discrimination against people based on caste. Only 2% of all pastors are Dalit Christians ..rest all are BC/MBC. In the US, Indians are not treated equal..it was a shocker to me when I first arrived here and I learnt that Bible preaches slavery and many Americans believe it was blessed by God. I tried to know about Islam..never mind it is too violent a cult to be followed. I finally found truth in the teachings of Periyar. I know Periyar would not like it but to me he is the true God and the only God. What we need a is a massive propogation of Periyarism. Pl be careful about involving people like Karunanidi or Veeramani or Jayalalitha or Ezra Sargunam etc...they are politicians and breed evil everywhere. What we should have is a people movement to establish equality and truth amongst Tamilians.

Dear Michaeal equality will only come when dignity of labour is their in society.Even people of OBC caste are not going to respected people who are doing manuel jobs even if they come from the same caste.

Good that you came to know about BIBLE supporting SLAVERY.Indian christains even if they read SLAVERY in BIBLE they simply refuce to even accnolage it.

RE:Periyar was true God

Thanks Patil. BTW pl note that I have nothing against Christians or Hindus. I have realized that it is the religion that makes people what they are or what they are forced to do/say. All my family is still Christian and from a OBC background. They are very good people and I love them a lot...but it is the Church/religion that forces them to close their mind to the truth. When I married a Brahmin girl many years ago my family coerced me to have her convert to Christianity. Even after she converted they still did not accept her not because she was a Brahmin but because she was not a Born OBC Christian. It is then we came to the US and guess what...we are not equal in the eyes of Jesus(as quoted in the Bible..). The people in US are very kind people but it the Church which closes their mind. With my brown skin I started reading/knowing about Islam but..once again I will not even get into that. Just to let us all know that even Pakistani Muslims are not accepted as equals by the Arabs or Persian Muslims. In the US the Pakistanis do not even claim to be Pakistanis but call themselves Indians.
My point is Jesus or Mohamed or Hindu gods might have said the correct thing but these have not been documented in stone or metal. What we have is just the interpretation by various people. It is in this context that I was lead to the truth through what Periyar stood for. He might have done many wrongs so did Jesus or other Gods, but we just do not know them. The organized religions have built up a strong organization some with an army. This is the case with Tamilnadu too or even India. What we need is a people movement without the likes of Veeramani/KK or JJ and learn not to dislike a fellow human. Let us start with liking a fellow Tamil and slowly progress to making peace with a fellow Indian and then a fellow South Asian...I suggest read the teachings of Periyar and forget what he did. When I say Periyar was a true God I meant it in the Spiritual sense and not in the Divine sense.

Hi Micheal Iam sorry to tell you that christanity and Islam beleive themself
to choosen people. It is not the chruch(priest/pastore) or masjid (imam/mullas)
which tell them to do so,remember these people are only following what their holy books say to believe.I have seen man whites and blacks priest in ISCON and I dont think they consider themself superior to Indian priest.Neither do Indian priests consider them to be inferior.
After all Bhakt and bhakti are beyond and race, colour and cast.

Iam again sorry if my posts hurts you, but I have to say that after having studied in a convent school and wept in front of jesus statue
(which is a common thing to see in roman catholic chruchs)I feel completely fool of myself reading BIBLE.BIBLE has condemped Idol worship advocated killing of unamrmed men, women, children and even animals .Taking enemies virgins as sex slave. And since GOd's word cannot be changed(I mean BIBLE which is called god's words )I have no other choise but to reject it.

By the way instead of following Pariyar I fill thousand time better to follow lord Ram's teachings(note I dont beleive he was god).Atleast he pracised what he preached.
He gave prority to studies when he was a student,Gave priorit to his father when his father was alive,Gave priority to his wife
after marriage, when he became king he gave priorit to his people,When he became father
he took care of them once they were handed to him.IN all sense and in all walk of life he did what was best for others. We cannot have ideal societies only with people giving lectures we need examples.I hope you understand.

JAI HIND

More Periyaar Needed.
by digital on May 02, 2007 07:42 PM

The Indian society needs Periyaar. Not one not two but many Periyaars. He was a true reformer. This movie should be made tax free and should be shown in every part of India. Periyaar not only elimated the brahmanism but also put in place a better social system.

Dravidar Kalagham/Kazhagam as it is called has one of its wing Ravanar niruvanathinar (ravana community)..and their preaching.."There is no GOD"..Doesn't it really sounds ridiculous!.
Ravana was one of the foremost devotees of Shiva. He has been also called Ravana-Brahma by Hindu scriptures. He was even revered by RAM for his knowledge. Some of the Shiva sthuthis are composed by him are even chanted during pooja..
Pretty sad that these persons use his name to propogate aesthetic ideas..

Simple Question:
Why is a Brahmin never jailed for calling himself a upper caste and calling others as lower caste. Periyaar was a visionary and thats the reason he ended brahminism in TN. Tamil nadu is making good progress in the social reforms because the brahmins are cut to size here.

Bloggers have no idea of the dravidian movement
by R K on May 02, 2007 07:21 PM  | Hide replies

The dravidian parties have been in power continously fr the last 4 decades and the congress has all but been wiped out. The BJP has made no in roads into the state. This clearly means that the dravidian ideology is stillhaving a hold and will always be. This is the legacy of Periyar. No one can deny this. It will be a miracle if congress or BJP come to power in TN. You can compare tht with Indian winnig the world cup in cricket. I am not telling that Periyar was great, he did indulge in some excesses during his time but he gave others a chance to dream to make it big. Fr people who argue that what god have these parties done for the state i would say that TN is the most industriaised state after gujrat, maharashra and punjab. TN is better off in agriculture too in spite of getting so little water from Karnataka. Literacy rate is high compared to congress ruled states, no farmers suicide, no naxal problems and i cn go on. So just think before blogging. I am no fan of karunanidhi or jayallitha but because of the dravidian movement initiated by periyar TN is better off than many many many congress rules, BJP ruled communist ruled states in India. nd i reiterate that i am not a periyar fan but just admire him for how he transfored the psyche of an entire state.

good. now that u have admitted urself that tn is good academically, do u see any point in pursuing reservations? dont u understand that it is the individual's relative ability or inability which gets him a higher post. or a better seat in iit and not caste alone? if u are so confident that tn has progrssed industrially and academically where is the need to tom-tom periyar and his so called ideals? it menas that periyar or no periyar as a tamilian, u take pride in the achievements of tamilians. that shiould be the unifying factor.caste is always a divisive factor
