Great masala film targeted to rajnisir fan club. This one is definately dedicated to his fans. Watching the super duper star was a treat. this guy is too honest when it comes to acting he is the only style icon available in our country he is a phenomenon he is a star born to entertain. Long live and god bless rajni sir. No match too his style and energy at this age. He is a ageless actor. This was a paisa vasool flick.
Rajni movie should be seen only in single cenima hall and along with his fans it was like a holiday.

Sankar has custom made the movie for the fans. For a fan, Sivaji offers all possible entertainment. It is filled with Rajini. The entire movie is completely dependent on Rajini's charisma.
If you are not a fan, stay away from the film. It offers everything you would hate. Rajini being larger than life, Rajini styles and logic defying stunts.
My Verdict - Movie will be a blockbuster because of fans becoming repeat audience. But will not win any awards or win the appreciation of critics.

Venkatesh.. do not lie.. nowehere in that Telegraph article was it written that either the movie was good or bad... they merely reported that with its release in the eastern region... Sivaji recorded a higher audience percentage in the multiplexes and other cinemas in that region... It attracted more crowds than movies like Cheeni kum, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Oceans 13 etc. etc. there was no critical review of the movie... you plant a heading yourself saying Sivaji is a waste of time and try to seek support from a newspaper article which did not say anything to support your version.... by the way that reporter like that idiot Anuradha Sengupta says Rajini was a pot bellied bald bus conductor... poor creatures.. they do not know that there is a difference between one's appearance and his histrionic capabilities. Forgive them God, for they do not know what they are doing..... Amen.
the movie is sad. even if u apply the (non) logic of rajni movies having no story/ logic, fans forget that EVEN a rajni movies hv to be interesting - thats why a BASHA, PADAYAPPA, CHANDRAMUHI are hits and BABA and ARUNACHALAM met with insipid responses. i blame shankar. despite having some of the BEST resources he has not managed to get out an INTERESTING movie like his own earlier gentleman, idnan, mudhalvan or even an anniyan. the comedy tracks are sad (desptie VIVEK in his sycophantic best to RAJNIKANT) . the songs are a BIG let down from AR REHMAN and even the grand sets of THOTTA THARINI cannot make it 'repeat'..chandarmuhi had better songs and faster paced nos . sure the movi will run. its release 2 years 2months after CHADNRAMUHI will ensure it gets a good initial . lucky AVM!

I myself used to be a rajini veriyan earlier before i left for north india. I saw shivaji and i am sorry my dear comrade rajni veriyans.. this movie is a big bull s*hit Only the songs and the sexy shreya were good.. Thailvar is really become too old to do those type of dances and those unbelivable fights.. he should grace fully stop doing such things which will no longer suit him. But come the action /dialogue delivery.. thailvar is numero uno and should concertrate more on those lines in future. Last line: Think shankars stock is over.. he has started repating the same oold story/theme/plots over and over again. Very poor performance by shankar. -- By a rajini veriyan himself
