Bad for UK's image
by abhijeet nandy on Jan 22, 2007 10:41 PM

I think this controversy has hurt UK's image adversely. Asians might be apprehensive now, to go to UK for work or studies. They might consider Noth America as a better option, not that they don't already. UK, was the most favoured European destination for Indians, if other European countries are smart enough to capitalize on this controversy, they can benefit from this.
The bottom line is, this controversy is bad for an already fragile British economy.

no better job

I think you guys have no better job to do than just overhype such a publicity stunt, which will benefit no one but Shilpa herself. Her acting credentials are for everyone to see.. and what mileage has she got with this episode!! Pls guys get on with life.. there are far too many problems that the nation has at this point in time.

shilpa deserves a pat
by ruchi pant on Jan 22, 2007 10:25 PM  | Hide replies

Shilpa deserves support from her country people. Earning money abroad doesn mean one has to go through racist, vulgar character attacks.

If we rally for those Indians who work in Afghanistan despite knowing the Taliban threat then why not Shilpa.

And if crying on being attacked is a gimmick, then a woman employee harassed by male boss shouldnt complain after all she is being paid to work in that company.

We should appreciate the degnified way Shilpa has behaved.

well said ruchi...:-) I hope she deserves our support, the ppl. in India instead of supporting her are trying to make false assumptions. I think she have showed Brits what is India is made up of dignity and pure character.

Media is the same everywhere
by Melanie Kumar on Jan 22, 2007 10:24 PM

I see no difference in the Indian media or Channel 4. They know that controversy sells and went all out to capitalise on the same from what happened on CBB. I am not sure that people here were jealous of Shilpa but it always helps to raise a contrary viewpoint to keep the controversy going!

It seems vidya reddy dont understand the english. If she did then she would not have uttered those words for shilpa, who has emerged as a true indian. People like vidya should be told immediately that we are indians and we are not used to cheap dramas which is a hallmark of western countries. So next time think before uttering anyting

Dear Mr./Ms. No name,
Read your message again and you wont have doubts who knows and who does not know English. I doubt if you have even traveled outside India for once. Cheap dramas happen daily in India, starting from streets to our political setup. I dont say that Shilpa did a cheap drama but then at the same time, she was not on a peace keeping mission or went to improve bilateral relations. She went to make money and reality shows have all these issues. Why the unnecessary hype.
