Great review
by Amit on Jul 12, 2005 06:37 AM

I watched Sarkar last night and came out with the same sentiments. This movie had a lot of potential, and the biggest reason I was disappointed was that this was an RGV film - I expected a lot more. I loved the 1st half, but things just seemed to go downhill in the 2nd. Also, I'm not sure if Abhishek's character was poorly developed or he was the wrong guy for the role.

Overall, movie is ok but no where close to the likes of Satya, Company or D.

Sarkar Vs The Godfather
by PB on Jul 12, 2005 04:28 AM

Why is it that even if I skip whole paragraphs of Mr. Raja Sen's reviews on hindi movies, I dont feel like I've missed anything? Why is he so biased towards some moviemakers? Why does he think Sarkar is a 'remake' of The Godfather when the director says it's his tribute to the great movie? Why does he not credit Mario Puzo for the superb novel instead of all those hokum pokum column inches about Coppola and Pacino? Who is Raja Sen for that matter? Why must we read what he writes? Why doesn't he dig a hole and bury his head? How would he watch movies if he really does so? How would he 'review' a movie if he doesn't watch it? Wouldn't it be a better world if it happens so? Oh..my.. just some mindless ponderings over a cup of simmering java and a Camel Turkish Gold on a pleasant Texan evening!!!

Awesome..
by Sudhir Kumar on Jul 12, 2005 12:19 AM  | Hide replies

This movie is simply awesome. Raja Sen's review literally throws the film into a dustbin, but after watching the movie I sincerely feel he is not even competent to comment on the movie, let alone review it. The whole review looks as if Mr. Raja Sen is taking revenge on Ramgopal Varma. Like many other readers said, do not let **your** prejudices come in the way of judgement. Common man goes to a movie to enjoy it, not to analyse it frame by frame. Rediff reviews come in the later category. How can you even say Paheli is the best movie in recent times, and Sarkar is a piece of crap??? This defies logic and common sense.

No doubt, RGV is the Don!!

Well, I second your thoughts word to word.
Rediff should have made sure that they atleast keep a reviewer who can "understand" the acting the stories, and can think, at least a little.
But if you ask a dead-brained guy, who's fed on "meaningless" movies from the Johar-SRK-Chopra camp, then it is going to be a hopelessly wrong person review of some very good movies. I am just wondering what kind of reviews would he write for 'Black' and 'Rang De Basanti', both of which have to be among the best five movies since 2000.
Whatever the reviews may be, I am not that foolish to waste my precious time reading "motivated" reviews.

Review on Sarkar
by Phani on Jul 11, 2005 10:08 PM

Dear Mr. Raja Sen.

As understood u r a very biased individual with no sense of film making. You are still struck to the same rain songs and beach exposure. You dont have the intelligence of understanding the real skill of directing a Movie.

R u writing this about a director who openly says that this is a inspiration.(NOte this is not a remake). Also note that with many great movies like Satya, Company he never expected a award or even present in any award function.
Did he ask u to seee the movie? then why did you see and write what ever comes u r MIND.

Movie is excellent brother.
Stop reviewing and paste the photographs of Sharukh and johar in u r bed room and start worshipping.

Please please dont write a review again at least of RGV bcos u r not qualified for that

Phani

Your review of Sarkar
by subodh on Jul 11, 2005 06:26 PM

I saw the film first and then read your review. Your review was even worst than expected. I may have asked why rediff should pay you for doing such reviews. But it would be naive ... So Rajababu, WHO IS PAYING YOU FOR DOING SUCH REVIEWS ??? You are putting rediff's credibility at stake you ...

must watch it
by manisha on Jul 11, 2005 04:13 PM  | Hide replies

hi'

i am manisha a big fan of ramu ji. i can watch just anything be it darna mana hai or bhootjust coz all belong's to ramgopal verma. every time i found something new in his film.

sarkar is not just a film it's ramgopal ji's move toward excellence.i can just define it well spoken story. sarkar is a movie that sets a trend to be followed by nextgeneration director

as far as the acting bis concern i found abhishek giving best of his caliber after yuva. he is too expressive even without having much of dialogues in his account. amit ji it self is a training institution. i have no words to define his caliber.

last of all sarkar is a must watch movie for the nieche segment who wants to see something meaningfull

Sarkaar is as good as Sholay
by Rahul on Jul 11, 2005 03:44 PM

Mr Raja sen is a confused reviewer who has not seen Godfather or not understood godfather. Its happens to 90% of indian as they donot understand the theme of English movie. I can say Godfather is opposite of sarkaar. In Godfather, the hero works against the system for the profit of himself not for people. Sarkaar is the best movie produced after Sholay and Yash chopra, Karan Johar should learn how to make movie which related to reality. All khans should learn acting lesson from Bachhans.
