I haven't seen such an aesthetic movie in last so many years.. i had read the review before watching the movie.. and to tell you the truth every word of this article is as good as the movie.. Beautiful......
before making this movie has mr amol palekar researched d fact what d whole thing is all about or this is only a story.actualy i'm not geting how come a ghost can have a phisuque of a person and how can he has d relation of a married couple.
I have seen the movie last week after reading the reviews. This movie is very slow and boring. Its like an ART movie.Atleast I would say its not worth to watch in a theatre spending @rs.100
Superstars , excellent sets , mediocre story , average direction, too many below par songs, frail storyline and what not . I fail to understand how Mr. Sen has been able to describe Paheli in any others words except the aforementioned. Biggest flaws in the movie is that the audience never gets to know who the spirit really is and the expressions and handling of the scenes on the return of the original SRK are too childish. Sorry but this movie did not live up to even my basic expectations.
Raja, you are spot on bout the visuals. 15-20 minutes into the movie and I had the pangs of taking the next train for another Rajasthan vacation. Brilliant & understated. A work of a fine, dreaming Director definitely.
Acting-wise, Juhi & Yadav were the best. For me, Rani was above average sure but somehow that edge failed to appear. Dilip Prabhavalkar & 'Banwari' gave their best, but could not rub-off the Maharashtrian KoBra accent. I am sure there are a lot of good actors amongst North Indians.
Music was poor. If I hear any song say while in a cab, will it strike me as one set amidst authentic Rajasthani households? Lets not even talk about the fact that the story is set in some pre-independence time.
